SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES — Delaney’s Dog

Rescuing and re-homing dogs in the Los Angeles area and Southern California communities, cannot be easy. Delaney’s Dog is another volunteer, all breed rescue that helps Siberian Huskies. Pikachu is one such dog. You can see his sad (but now happy!) story on the DD website along with some adorable Malinois X Siberian puppies! Delaney’s Dog is also creative in fund raising. Newer rescues can take a lesson from all of the ways they attempt to bring in money for the dogs who are spayed/ neutered/ microchipped and receive all appropriate veterinary care before they are put up for adoption. Part of their credo: “Our requirement for rescue is need, not breed. Our requirement for placement is the RIGHT home NOT just any home.”

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES — Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue

Hairy Houdini covers the entire state of Michigan. Another hardworking foster-based rescue, they have an excellent website as well as an active page. HH sends out regular newsletters and has amazing fund raising events such as a Co****le Tournament and Family Picnic. They are currently accepting photos for a 2025 Calendar and businesses are welcome to sponsor and have a spot for their name and logo. In 2023 HH took full advantage of the SHCA Trust’s spay and neuter grants and we can’t wait to receive their application for this year.

(Remember, funding for spays and neuters has increased to $300 per dog!)

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES - BARC (Broken Arrow Rescue Community)

BARC is another all-breed rescue with a soft spot for Siberians. Based in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma they strive to rescue any homeless dog but place the greatest emphasis on shelter dogs facing euthanasia. Over the years BARC has applied for and received multiple spay, neuter and emergency medical grants from the Trust. As with most of our entities, BARC is currently running out of room in their foster based rescue. In fact, the entire state of Oklahoma is in crisis with overcrowded shelters causing Jamie Cope, BARC’s founder, to begin looking for land to expand and help more dogs. We wish BARC good luck in their search.

You can see a FOX news story on their page: https://www.facebook.com//barc4animals/?fref=ts

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES—A Pathway to Hope
A Pathway to Hope is an all-volunteer, foster based dog and cat rescue in Hawthorne, New Jersey. Although PH takes in all breeds founder and president Amy Hofer has a special place in her heart for Siberian Huskies. Another unique feature of this hard-working rescue is Hope’s Home. Years ago, property was purchased, and buildings were (and still are) being renovated or created for the purpose of providing fosters with a home setting where they can get the rehab and training they need to be better eligible for adoption. Read about it and watch a video here on their website. http://www.apathwaytohope.org/hopes-home.html A Pathway to Hope is also on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/apathwaytohope

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES —Husky Haven of Florida

Siberian Huskies in Florida? Yes! And from the looks of it quite a lot of them are homeless. Husky Haven’s excellent website and very active page proves it. Located in Winter Springs this volunteer based organization has foster homes throughout the state. They have mastered the art of organization with volunteer directors for fostering, transporting, fundraising and even a medical director. As a side note, president Francia Vogini submits one of the best formatted spay/ neuter grant submissions the Trust receives each year. If you visit Husky Haven’s website be sure to check out The Handicapables as well as some of their awesome merchandise.

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES— Moonsong Malamute Rescue

Yes, you read right. Moonsong may have Malamute in their name but they rescue Siberian Huskies and mixes as well. Moonsong was established in 2004. They are an all volunteer, foster based rescue for an incredible 5 state area that includes Idaho, Utah, Northern Nevada, Wyoming and Montana.

If you visit Moonsong’s website, be sure to read the in memoriam to Katy Flanagan one of the original founders. She was an amazing person. Moonsong is affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL) which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. They operate under AMAL's code of ethics.

You can learn more about this awesome organization that is inclusive of all northern breeds by visiting https://moonsongmals.org/

OR Facebook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.478453548924117&type=3. They are on Instagram as well.

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR RESCUE ENTITIES

We would like to start featuring some of the Trust’s rescue entities and the important work they do.

NW Snow Dog Rescue is in Washington state. They were founded in 2014 as one of the only breed specific rescues in the Pacific Northwest. Their operation is strictly foster home based and they help Siberian Huskies and husky mixes. Last year they were involved in a large owner surrender operation that involved several rescue organizations. SHCA Trust awarded NWSDR funding to help with the five Siberian Huskies that were part of the surrender. Thank you NWSDR for your dedication to our breed.

NWSDR has a website nwsnowdogrescue.org and they can be found on Facebook.
