It is with deep sadness that we inform you PollyAnne's has died. Despite our efforts, she died in the night before her scheduled procedure today. She was extremely thin and unwell when we rescued her and she really struggled to eat. We are so devastated by this loss. Rest peacefully, PollyAnne. 🌈🐾

22/08/2024

Another update on PollyAnne.
She's had a few sips of formula, not enough to count. I tried syringe feeding her the liquid food, but she's so resistant. She got 2ml in 20 minutes. She needs at least 300ml a day.
The not eating has started having an effect and she is weaker today than before.
She's still alert and active.
I spoke with the vet when i took her in on monday about tube feeding her, but the vet quite honestly said the procedure/anaesthetic would probably kill her.
It's days later and she has made no progress despite so many different attempts with many different foods to get her to eat/ingest something.
Tomorrow morning, she is going in to have a feeding tube fitted.
If we don't do it, she will definitely die. It's a terrible choice, but I'm taking 'probably' die over definitely die.

She deserves so much better than this.

Blue is in for a dental today (more added to our outstanding balance :()
and I've picked up some liquid food high in calories and some larger syringes to hopefully get PollyAnne to take some nutrition. She had a little of the formula last night- nowhere near enough, but it's a start.

I need to get from the vets now to the campsite to put food out for Dexter, then home to feed all the cats, before coming back later to pick Blue up. Tomorrow is a homecheck, Saturday is collecting a stray feom Bethesda. I don't joke when i say it's a busy time this summer!

21/08/2024

PollyAnne is still not eating. I feel like she is disappearing right in front of me. She is active and alert, and is drinking water. So, while I wait for the appetite stimulant to start working (I'm applying it daily as per vet instructions), I'm using the fact that she is drinking, and have made her some formula (Cherry isn't on it any more).
Please join me in wishing/hoping/praying that she drinks it all so i can start mixing blended food into it like for a weaning kitten.
While I have your attention, please consider assisting in the reduction of our enormous vet bill. (Details to come- or just ring Y Ffor vets and pay towards Kitty Care Rescue bill)

Fingers crossed and positive thoughts please, PollyAnne is off to vets as she isn't eating (she seems to have a cold, but with her being all bones it is terrifying that she isn't eating). She's alert, so I'm hopeful.

Cherry is going from strength to strength and no longer has to go everywhere with me. She has taken a shine to resident rescue, Blue, and follows him around when i am unavailable. He grooms her, he sometimes plays with her (lets her play with his tail whenever she wants!), and they often curl up side by side. I know she is alright when I leave the house.
She had another visit to the vet, her eyes seem to be becoming more normal! You can see the yellow of the iris now, she is really strong for one so small, and she is growing! She is now half a kilo :o
She hoons around my house with real speed and confidence, she climbs the furniture and leaps crazy distances- i think it's safe to say that she is fearless. She also has some vision :)
She still dislikes baths but loves being wrapped like a burrito and dried!
She purrs like a motor engine and always wants to play, she is a joy to be around. Yes, she is work, but the timing of her arrival meant that I couldn't wallow in my grief over losing Daron because this tiny baby, and the other cats, needed me.
I've said before, and I'm sure I will say it again, the cats rescue me as much as I rescue them.

This summer has been the busiest time for this rescue in terms of people contacting us about cats and kittens in need. We can't take them all in, we just don't have space, but where we haven't been physically able to help, we have offered advice and guidance to ensure the cat/s in question are safe and cared for.
Something we don't do, usually, is owner surrenders- but a lady got in touch just at the right time. Her mother was moving and couldn't take her cat with her. There was space in the rescue, so we said yes.
This cat, now called PollyAnne, is the skinniest cat I have ever encountered :(
She is literally bones and fur. She's beautiful though, and so affectionate.
Off to the vet with her obviously. A full blood test is run on her and her thyroid readings were off the chart. She has an overactive thyroid and should have been on medication for it for quite some time.
She is on the medication now. I hope we got to her in time. I love this little lady already, she has the sweetest nature. I fuss her, and i carefully cuddle her- i'm scared of breaking her as there's nothing to her.
She should weigh around 4.5 kilos. She doesn't even weigh 2 kilos :( she was 1.9 kilos when weighed at the vet.
Please send your positive thoughts and healing vibes, and prayers if you pray. PollyAnne needs help to gain weight, then she can find the right home where she will get all the care that she needs xx

Apologies for the silence right after i started sharing Cherry's rescue journey with you all, it's my horrific internet connection.
So, where were we?
One of the first things we do when a cat comes into the rescue is worm them and get rid of their fleas. With a bigger cat, that means panacur granules in their food and a spot on flea treatment, but as Cherry is so little she gets panacur paste for worming and there's no way we can use chemicals on her, so the best way to get fleas from a little kitten is to bath them.
If you are going to bath a kitten, please watch the video by Kitten Lady beforehand so that you do it safely and effectively.
They are usually not fans of the bathing, but very much enjoy the drying! Cherry was no different! (She was sunbathing outside once she was dry)
Remember this kitten is so tiny that she didn't register a weight at the vets!
The colour of the water shows you how much of her blood had been sucked out by fleas :(
Fleas can literally kill a kitten in just days.

It was Thursday evening when Cherry was brought into the rescue- and thank goodness she was!
She is the size of a 4 week old kitten, so should still be with her kitty momma but we suspect her mother rejected her :(
After fussing her and checking her over that night, I was concerned that something was not right with her eyes. So, as I was going to the vet the next day to get wormer and baby kitty formula for her, she managed to be seen by a vet. She had a tick removed from her ear and she was weighed, and her eyes were scrutinised. Sadly, right now, there is 'nothing normal about her eyes'. Little Cherry is blind. (I have determined since that she can distinguish between light and dark)
She is confident and feisty and so we think she is a bit older than 4 weeks, but, given her size, will continue to treat her as if she is 4 weeks old.
So, we came out with panacur paste (absolutely the best for worming kittens), cimicat formula (kitty care rescue preferred formula for young kittens), Isathal ointment for her eyes- and a bill for the consultation!
Essentially, if you want to help strays, the smaller the cat, the bigger the job! I couldn't do any of this work without the support from all of you.
Cherry spends most of her time purring, as long as she is within reach of me.
Next installment...bath time!

Meet the most recent guest to join us in the rescue, found alone in a garden in Abersoch- meet Cherry.
I realise that kitty in the cleavage is a little risqué for a sunday sfternoon, but she's tiny and that is where she is warm and feels safe.
I will share a few posts about this little one over the next week, please don't ask about adoption as she is not ready for that yet. I encourage you all to follow along with her journey though, and I hope it's interesting and educational- it will definitely be cute!

Meet Buffy. She is around a year old, neutered, litter trained and hilarious!
She is the loudest kitten we have encountered in a long time! If she wants your attention, she has no problem absolutely demanding it 🤣 She will shout at you or scream at you if she feels you are slow with the food or the fusses!
While not a big fan of being picked up, she does love to be stroked and is particularly fond of head scratches. She's not the quickest to purr, but once she does, it's a wonderful sound and she looks as if she's smiling when she's purring 🙂
She prefers her own company over that of other cats or kittens, but after some initial growling, she is absolutely fine around others. While only a little thing, Buffy is feisty and fast and hasn't met anything she won't try to scale! So if you are precious about your furniture or curtains, she is not the kitty for you. If, however, you are looking for an utterly adorable little girl who knows her own mind and will demand all your attention, then Buffy is absolutely the one for you. She is fearless and so would likely fit in with a household dog without issue.
Unsuitable for households with really young children, she would thrive on the attention sensible children would pay her. (Each application is considered individually)
Buffy is up to date with her flea treatments and worming. She has another intensive worming course next week but will then be ready to move into her forever home.
If Buffy is the character missing from your life, then complete the application form,

stating that she is the kitty you want and keep an eye on your email as that is how we contact you.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I share this devastating news with you all. Tears are running down my face and i've had many crying sessions.
Our beautiful older lady, Daron, has died.
Tuesday evening I went in to feed all the rescues, and there she was, lying in her litter tray with her eyes closed, cold and dead :(
She looked peaceful but I am heartbroken. She had showed no signs earlier on that anything was wrong.
As I held her little body close, it was the only cuddle with her she wasn't purring in my ear.
Her mighty purr will be missed. Her grumpy morning face is missed. I even miss the way you'd get food all over your face. The awesome cuddles we had are missed. No more leaping so far that my heart would be in my mouth :( no more climbing up the other cats' crates :(

You were loved fiercely little lady, I hope you knew that xx

Hello to all our supporters and followers. Apologies for being so quiet of late, it's been busy behind the scenes (need to clone myself really!), a busy busy kitten season and lots of adult cats both stray and in less than safe situations needing assistance.
To that end, we are in serious need of a second trapping kit (trap, transfer carrier, microchip scanner) which comes in at just over £200.
We also need fuel money to be able to do all the running about on the peninsula, as well as being short of litter and flea treatments.
All in all, we need your help.
If you could do a bit of fundraising, or something, for the rescue so that we can continue to do all this work that would be great.
Thank you xx

Carter was officially adopted yesterday!
After 2 years in the rescue, this wonderful boy has his forever home :)
The family who were fostering him fell for him and just couldn't be parted.
He is best mates with the largest dog! (The photo of them together is actually from his first day in foster there!)
I love a happy ending :)

What can I say about this wonderful little guy?
Branwell is just 3 years old but very playful, like a kitten. He is such a happy boy, as long as he isn't around cats! Poor lad doesn't realise he is a cat and he dislikes them with a passion. He growls, he snarls, he attacks and starts fights, and so he has to be the only cat in the household- for everyone's safety!
He is a loving, affectionate boy who likes to curl up and sleep beside you so he'd absolutely have to be allowed on the furniture, especially the bed. He has a fabulous purr that just brings joy.
He is not going to be able to live with small children as he uses claws and he nips as he plays- but he may well grow out of this as he is now miles better than he used to be with this. He just gets so excited to be playing with you that he will wrap his paws around your arm, digging his claws in, and bite your arm- it only hurts if you pull away so if you let him express his excitement, he soon moves on to running about!
He loves to be fussed, especially the sides of his face. And he's partial to a scratching post, a nice one with a raised seat for him to admire his kingdom. These few things make him a very happy kitty indeed, can you offer the forever home he is looking for?
He's a handsome three year old who is neutered, litter trained (he's very tidy) and regularly flea treated and wormed. He comes with 5 weeks' free insurance, an adoption pack, and a lifetime of rescue backup and access to advice from those who know him best.
'I love this boy, and if he could live happily with other cats, I would have adopted him a long time ago' (Rachel, rescue founder)
If this adorable bundle of love is exactly what is missing from your life, please complete the application form stating that Branwell is the cat for you.

Then keep an eye on your email, as that is how we contact you (it may be a week before we manage to get in touch due to terrible internet and a shortage of volunteers, if you are interested in volunteering please contact us [email protected]).

Greetings supporters and followers :)
I am on the beg again, but for people this time!
We are looking for someone (location not an issue) who has the time and passion to run a monthly online raffle/auction to raise funds for the rescue. If you would like to volunteer for this, please comment below or message the rescue.

We are looking for someone local who has the time and energy and passion to take on the role of Fundraising Co-ordinator. You'd be responsible for organising events to ensure that money is coming into the rescue to help cover the outgoings. You'd be good with people, and will work closely with the trustees and an eventual fundraising team (which you will help to create).
If you are interested in taking on this role, or joining the fundraising team, please comment below or message the rescue.

Thank you for your time xx
