Vom Brandherd Deutsch-Drahthaars Welcome to vom Brandherd Kennels, producing versatile Drahthaars for field and family. To obtain more info on the breed please go to VDD-GNA website.

We are a Verein Deutsch-Drahthaar registered kennel, committed to the VDD testing program and breeding regulations. We are located in Bismarck, ND and primarily hunt pheasant, sharp tail grouse, Hungarian partridge, and waterfowl and seek to produce dogs that excel in these areas. Our dogs are medium size, easy to keep in the house with family, yet possess the heart and desire to pursue and retrie

***EDIT: and BADGER! How the heck did I forget about the BADGER?!?!?! 😄😳 Thankfully I was able to call Eva off before it got ugly!

Since Cami is on the DL for one more week with a sharptail hunting injury, Eva and I had our first outing of the ND pheasant season this afternoon. It was an action packed couple hours on heavily pressured public land, but we got the job done with a little daylight to spare!

Happy 10th birthday to Cami and the rest of the C Litter vom Brandherd! Don’t let that gray muzzle fool you, there’s still a fiery hunting machine alive and well inside her!

So proud of this litter and how they have added quality pups to our DD gene pool. Cami, Cedar, and Cooper have all brought excellent temperament and talent to the table and it’s showing in their progeny. Thank you to great handlers who helped develop them as well!

Central ND is having a BANNER YEAR for grasshoppers and Buffalo berries! The sharptails and pheasants are well fed now and will be throughout the late season and winter. This is good to see!

When you go to church Sunday morning, the Good Lord blesses your Sunday afternoon hunt! A quick limit of ND roosters on public land close to home. There’s one young bird in there that I normally wouldn’t have shot, but Eva’s work of tracking and pointing was outstanding - had to reward her effort with a retrieve!

Thoroughly enjoyed my time in MT this past week. It was an amazing experience of cover, game, great friends (new and old) and great fellowship. had some incredible dog work and some less than incredible dog work in the heat of the Montana sun! Can’t wait to go back.
