Whilst we knew it would happen at some point , today we lost the landline. We are unable to have a BT landline so our only alternative is to resort to mobiles. Happy 11th Birthday to the fabulous "M" litter. Champions Mimi, Mabel, Maximus and Mercury, C.C winners Maeve, Myrtle and Minstrel. Not all are still with us, but they are all loved and remembered. Old Mummy is currently looking after some Mimi grandchildren, so hoping they will be as gorgeous as their Granny who is visiting us later today. Much love from Old Mummy ###
OTTERHOUND BREED INFORMATION DAY ON SUNDAY 14th APRIL
The next Breed Information Day will be held on Sunday 14th April at Bodenham Parish Hall, Bodenham, near Leominster, Herefordshire HR1 3LJ, to start at 11.30am. The day will comprise of lecture about the breed including it's origins; a little on genetics; health problems; what sort of environment you need to provide to keep an Otterhound. There will be a Q and A session, a 2 course lunch, and then everyone will be able to meet the hounds.
Attendance at a BID is an essential first step in my vetting process. I don't charge for the day, but donations are very welcome as the costs are significant. If you are vegetarian, or have special dietary requirements please let me know when you confirm your attendance. Please confirm your participation no later than Wednesday 10th April.

Firstly many apologies for the long delay in holding an Otterhound Breed Information Day, my health is now improving and I feel well enough to recommence our events.
The BID will be held at Bodenham Parish Hall, Bodenham, near Leominster, Herefordshire HR1 3LJ, to start at 11.30am, on Sunday 17th March. The day will comprise of lecture about the breed including it's origins; a little on genetics; health problems; what sort of environment you need to provide to keep an Otterhound. There will be a Q and A session, a 2 course lunch, and then everyone will be able to meet the hounds.

I do hope all is well with you. Firstly many apologies for the lack of events this year, and I'm sorry but there won't be a Christmas Party 2023 as I'm just not well enough. Hopefully events will recommence in 2024.
It is my intention to produce a 2024 Teckelgarth Calender, so if you have any amusing or unusual photos of your beloved hounds please send them to me by October 22nd. There will probably be A3 and desktop size, and if you would like to place your order at the same time that would be very helpful.

Yes, I know it sounds odd, but we had to delay all our plans for New Year, just as we did in 2022, so our New Year's Walk will be on Sunday March 5th. We will meet in the car park at Nimmings Wood, Hagley Wood Lane, Romsley, Worcestershire B62 0NL at 11.30am. The car park is National Trust, so car parking fees apply unless you are a member .
As we can't depend on the weather I am trying to find a suitable village hall to hire that will not break the bank. If I am successful with my search there will be a hot buffet for walkers at a cost of £9 per person, if I can't find a venue then there will be a picnic including hot soup available at the end of the walk at a cost of £5 per person.
Some parts of the proposed walk are steep, but for those wanting a gentler stroll other routes are available. It is March so it's likely to be muddy!
It would be very helpful if you could confirm your attendance with me by the end of Thursday 2nd March, on this email address. The whole event will be held weather permitting, so if I have to postpone the walk I will make a decision on Friday 3rd March and inform every one. Otherwise its going ahead.
Please let me know if you have any special dietary requirements when you confirm your attendance.

OTTERHOUND SOCIAL WALK AND CHRISTMAS PARTY SUNDAY 4TH DECEMBER. Lets celebrate! Christmas is nearly here and it's time for friends to get together.
Our Christmas walk this year will start at Kenilworth Castle, Castle Green, Off Castle Road, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 1NG. We will meet in the car park at 11.00am for a walk in the castle grounds. There are no facilities at this car park!!! After the walk we will travel a short distance to Stoneleigh Village Hall, 8 Stoneleigh Close Stoneleigh, Coventry CV8 3DE.
There will be a formal three course Christmas lunch. Due to the significant increases in food, hall hire costs etc. I have to charge £12 per adult, and £7.50 for 5-12 years olds, this is the first price increase since 2015. Anyone booking a place but not turning up on the day will be politely asked to forward their fee.
Vegetarians can be catered for, but please make sure you have book your place by the
closing date of Wednesday 30th November. Any vegetarian meal suggestions
are very welcome. PLEASE book your places via email (so that I don't forget!).
The Teckelgarth Calendar 2023, both A3 and desktop, £11 and £8.50 will be available for collection at the Christmas Party . Please place your orders by email as soon as possible. Again apologies for the increase in price.

Hello All,
I will be holding an Otterhound Breed Information Day at my home on Sunday 20th March to replace the BID delayed because of my other half having Covid. As it will be at my home places will be limited, so it will be on a first booked first served basis. The day will start at 12.00 noon, lunch will be provided, if you have any special dietary needs please let know when confirming your attendance, by the close of Thursday 17th March. Exact address will be sent to everyone attending on confirmation.
Another BID will be held, on Sunday 10th April at Bodenham Village Hall, near Leominster, HR1 3LB, to commence at 12.15pm. Please confirm your place by Thursday 7th April.
I do not charge for Breed Information Days, but donations towards covering the costs are always welcome.

Good Morning Otterhound Friends, Last week we had the pleasure of spending a few hours with the delightful Alan Titchmarsh filming for his Sunday morning program "Love your Weekend". Our Otterhounds were invited as examples of scent hounds for a small article during the program which is going to be screened on ITV on Sunday 20th February starting at 10am. Our hounds had a great day, and won the entire film crew over, many of them taking selfies with Crassus! Mr Titchmarsh was very knowledgeable about the breed and had clearly met Otterhounds before. We had a fab. day and hope that the TV coverage will continue to promote our wonderful breed in a positive light. Happy viewing!
