Give your dog something to talk about! These are some of the locations I can walk your dog, and give them a real story to tell you afterwards about how they explored the countryside and coastal areas

of North Cornwall. Maybe they met new friends, or maybe a scent on the fresh wind had them excited. Either way, they'll have a wagging tail and a big yawn to show for the day's adventures. If your lifestyle, schedule or routine makes it tricky for you to walk your dog, I can do it for you and give you peace of mind your canine pal is being looked after in your absence.

About Me, Monty and Mabel
Hi, I'm Fran. I'm the founder and owner of North Cornwall Dog Walking. I've lived in North Cornwall since 2009. In that time, I have formed a deep love of this beautiful county, along with an understanding of its unique geography, climate and ways of life. Cornwall is a forever home for me, my family and my pets. I have owned dogs and numerous other pets all my life, and I've learned that walking is the key to happiness & wellbeing, both for humans and our beloved canine companions. I care deeply about animal welfare and your dog's time with me is top priority. When it's appropriate, most walks are shared with my own dogs, Monty, Mabel & Mocha. Monty, an Irish Setter & Collie cross, soon to be Agility Champion (of my heart, at least) was born in 2016 and is the most playful dog there is. Mabel is a rescued Irish Setter girl born in 2015, and she's wonderfully loving and sociable even with her troubled past. Mocha is our youngster, a little working cocker spaniel. He has taken on the role as my personal trainer running with me.

Pure joy 🤩
Mocha & Rufus absolutely smashing the 6.5km course, fastest we have ever been on this technical course! Both boys just brilliantly showcasing their fitness and ability to listen to cues quickly when I needed them to.
Mabel & Monty got to do the 4km course, so lovely to have a short distance available for them. They were raring to go, voicing their excitement and joy. It’s after all the place where they learned to let their inner husky out! A very special day spent with my beautiful dogs doing what we love. 🥰

What a day ☀️ collecting all the rays before it apparently will get a bit wet again tomorrow!
Crew No 1 enjoying stunning views, chasing each other over our favourite fields; Crew No 2 having all the fun in the woods while being the goodest boys and girls!
The last adventure of the day was a coastal run… a tiny scramble… then a beach run 🥰

We did a thing! Tough mudder… I mean, Endurancelife Half Marathon North Cornwall 🤎
Not our first rodeo but, oh boy, this was a spicy one! Nice bit of elevation but also extremely muddy, ankle deep, just staying upright, unable to run. So it took a bit longer than we thought! Mocha impressed me non stop how well he was looking after me 🥹 listening so well to his cues, behind when needed, helping when possible. We didn’t fall, we managed it nicely even without a huge amount of training and after 2 weeks of lurgy. Very proud of us 🥰
We shared the trails with our besties Moss & Pam, too! What a great team 💪

Wish we were heading to the Alps again now, but instead the Puppies had a lovely groom ready to ruin it in the mud again 🥹😂 but so much easier to clean them off after keep them knot free 👀

Every dog is different! 🧣🧥
With temperatures dancing around zero and hail and rain joining us on walks regularly, every dog has different needs to be met.
Some dogs have a double coat naturally, like the dense and thick coat of a Labrador. You see them diving into ice cold water like it’s a 5* spa and the water doesn’t touch their skin.
Mabel has a very thin coat and our mission is always to keep weight on her, so when it’s cold she gets to wear her or a warm raincoat. Monty would argue he doesn’t feel the cold but with his arthritis and tight muscles I want to keep his spine as cosy as possible. Very important to properly warm and dry older dogs after a walk as well. Rufus gets his fleece on especially when his Cavapoo coat is fairly short, rain would go straight to his skin.

On this rather miserable day I’m finding myself down memory lane to my favourite race finisher photos with my beautiful dogs over the years.
Canicross and the motivation we get through attending events together has helped me through the longest winters. Under no illusion to be fast enough to place, it’s all about having fun together. Mabel and Monty still absolutely adore running and voice their excitement when they see the equipment. End of the month they have the chance to do a very short, easy course at Devon Howlers, again, I love that we can do that together still. Mocha and I have been concentrating on the longer, more technical trail events since he was old enough to do so and we have another half marathon next week!

Alfie & Biri are here for the holidays and have been promised extra special treats for enduring this malarkey. Rufus loves dressing up, just like he loves everything we do, as long as we’re together. Rowan says all he wants for Christmas is a therapist, Christmas pudding, really? Yes. This is how we roll. All dogs were compensated with a muddy walk after 😘
