Give your dog something to talk about! These are some of the locations I can walk your dog, and give them a real story to tell you afterwards about how they explored the countryside and coastal areas

of North Cornwall. Maybe they met new friends, or maybe a scent on the fresh wind had them excited. Either way, they'll have a wagging tail and a big yawn to show for the day's adventures. If your lifestyle, schedule or routine makes it tricky for you to walk your dog, I can do it for you and give you peace of mind your canine pal is being looked after in your absence.

About Me, Monty and Mabel
Hi, I'm Fran. I'm the founder and owner of North Cornwall Dog Walking. I've lived in North Cornwall since 2009. In that time, I have formed a deep love of this beautiful county, along with an understanding of its unique geography, climate and ways of life. Cornwall is a forever home for me, my family and my pets. I have owned dogs and numerous other pets all my life, and I've learned that walking is the key to happiness & wellbeing, both for humans and our beloved canine companions. I care deeply about animal welfare and your dog's time with me is top priority. When it's appropriate, most walks are shared with my own dogs, Monty, Mabel & Mocha. Monty, an Irish Setter & Collie cross, soon to be Agility Champion (of my heart, at least) was born in 2016 and is the most playful dog there is. Mabel is a rescued Irish Setter girl born in 2015, and she's wonderfully loving and sociable even with her troubled past. Mocha is our youngster, a little working cocker spaniel. He has taken on the role as my personal trainer running with me.

This cute little memory has just popped up 🥰
Mocha’s crate training made sure he got plenty of sleep day & night, learned to settled by himself and away from other dogs and it was the only way to have him succeed with toilet training.

Our 2025 diary arrived, already had a great big list of lucky doggy hotel guests to fill it with. ✨
This means we are going into our 8th year of this small but mighty business and as always I am forever thankful for the support of my clients. I’ve worked with so many amazing dogs over the years, clients have become friends, dogs like one of our own.

3 years ago Memory popped up today 🥹
I’ve known and learned from Liz Woodhead Woofers for years and years but this was Mocha’s first time meeting her.
We never stop learning, none of us know it all, please take your dogs to a fabulous trainer to help you become the best dog owner your dog can have.
Liz has a lifetime of experience as well as taking her own dogs training and keeping up with CPD and her own learning more than any trainer I know. Every conversation I have with her I learn something new.

Welcome to the Doggy Hotel - Puppy Daycare Deluxe, Ottie 🧡
This little girl is having the literal best start in life. With her Mum having taken the advice from our Best start in Life package before Ottie even moved in, they were set up for success. With a great routine, crate & toilet training in place at Daycare we are able to continue all that. Structured naps, being carried on walks to see the big wide world, observe traffic, meet gentle dogs of all shapes and sizes, only positive experiences…. Did I mention naps? 💤
Ottie is doing so well and is a great example how enjoyable puppyhood can be if it’s done right from the start.

“Neuroesthetics - the science of the impact of beauty in our brains, our health, our mental health and longevity”

Now it’s meant to be about art, music, being creative, being in nature. But for me it’s simply looking at my beautiful dogs, spending time with them and in this case, reading in the egg chair together ♥️ (he can’t read a book, but he can definitely read me)

Hello from the Doggy Hotel Terrace ☀️
Doris is staying for the weekend; Presley is almost at the end of his long holiday; Woody booked himself a weekend getaway to see all his old mates ♥️ (he used to live here and come for several walks a week with us!) Bonnie is well and truly settled in and staying for quite a bit longer, which we are all very happy about; Lily & Kara are checking out today, see you again soon!
Who can spot Mabel? 👀 🤭

7/10 of today’s Doggy Hotel Crew ♥️ 🌊
Welcome back, beautiful Bonnie, she is joining the mayhem for a week 🎉 having stayed every year since she was 4 months old, she loves her holidays with us and all the new friends she gets to make.
Mabel, Lily & Monty stayed behind, they had a lovely walk just before.
Thanks to our all poops + extras accounted for! ✨

Mocha helped me with a lovely *Best Start in Life* Session this afternoon 🥰 The Dog Mum to be came round to learn everything about those first few weeks with her new puppy. I love when we can chat before the puppy moves in, to get it right from the start. We talked crate & toilet training, how to keep puppy safe, my tricks and tips on feeding & routine and so much more.
Can’t wait to meet this little girl soon! Mocha has space on his girlfriend list, too ♥️

What do you think? Have Monty, Mabel & Mocha enjoyed their little weekend away with us? 🥰
They certainly know how to “holiday”!
We will most likely never get enough of this place, the beautiful Braunton Burrows, the miles and miles of Woolacombe & Saunton beach.
Back to business tomorrow for an especially busy summer! ☀️

What does Home Boarding mean to me? 🏡
It’s a lifestyle, not a job. 24/7 care. It means your dog lives the life of our own dogs. It means I’m always half awake at night and fully switched on during the day. It means I can hear from my bed if your dog has a bad dream, is scared of thunder or has an upset tummy. It means we adjust the menu of walks and exercise depending on what your dog needs. It means I get to know your dog to well I can tell if it’s gait, mood or appetite changes. Home Boarding means we open our home to your dog at the same time as our hearts. It means I deeply care for your dog. It means your dog’s safety is my main priority, even when not in my care. It means I miss your dog and look forward to it staying again.
It means instead of watching a film, I might just watch your dog sleep, because I love her. (POV: Willow just checked in for the week 💛)
Hope you are all having a nice weekend! ✨

This is a great opportunity! 🤩
I’ve done Agility for years (always very low level jumps) but what I’ve taken from it the most is the bond it creates between you and the dog. Oh, suddenly this human is helluva fun and not just the party pooper on the other end of the lead?!
When we first rescued Mabel she didn’t even look at us. Not bothered. The different workshops I’ve done with her, including interactive play and agility has changed our relationship immensely.

💥💥💥Introduction To Agility!💥💥💥

Have you always fancied having a go at agility?

Come and join us!

We are running a new course starting:

Monday 8th July @10-11am

( no evenings or weekend agility for the foreseeable due to other commitments)

This is a 4week course of 1hr lessons run over 4 consecutive weeks. We keep our classes to 5 dogs and handlers only so everyone gets quality time and support and 2 instructors in each class

We will be working on lots of body confidence and focus. We’ll be doing jumps, tunnels and small sequences.

This course will be suitable for dogs from 6 months old as we will tailor each exercise to suit their age.
Dogs need to be happy working in an environment with other dogs and have a reasonable level of recall.

If you’re in any doubt on suitability for you and your dog please get in contact.

Cost for the course is £80 and takes place at;

Woodhead Woofers
Black Torrington
EX21 5HX
07789698804

Agility is so much more than dogs zooming over jumps and running through tunnels!

So, what are the benefits of agility training for you and your dog?

1) Provides an outlet for physical and mental energy.

2) Helps build your dogs confidence

3) Great for developing self control

4) Helps with distraction training

5) Helps build greater trust and confidence in your dog.

6) Great socialising for both dogs and handlers!

Ball launchers have become a popular accessory for dog owners who want to keep their dogs active and entertained. However, these devices can have negative effects on your dog's health and wellbeing.

Ball Launchers Can Cause Obsession:

Some dogs become obsessed with fetching a ball, which can lead to behavioural problems. They may become aggressive or anxious when they are not playing with the ball launcher, making it difficult to enjoy time with your pet. It's important to recognise the signs of obsession and to limit your dog's use of the ball launcher.

Ball Launchers Interrupt Natural Behaviour:

Dogs are naturally curious and enjoy exploring their surroundings through sniffing and relaxing. However, when they become obsessed with fetching a ball, they may lose interest in these natural behaviours. This can lead to boredom and frustration, causing your dog to become less active and less healthy.

Ball Launchers Can Cause Joint Problems:

Repeatedly launching a ball puts a lot of stress on your dog's joints, especially if they are a high energy breed. This can lead to joint problems such as arthritis, which can be very painful and expensive to treat. It's important to limit the amount of time your dog spends playing with a ball launcher and to give them plenty of rest breaks.

While ball launchers may seem like a fun and easy way to keep your dog entertained, they can have negative effects on their health and wellbeing. They interrupt natural behaviour, can cause joint problems, and lead to obsession. If you want to keep your dog healthy and happy, it's best to limit their use of ball launchers and encourage them to engage in natural behaviours such as sniffing, scent work, exploring and simply relaxing.

We have had a rare, empty Doggy Hotel this weekend. Time was spent visiting friends in the south of Cornwall, running, walking and simply enjoying time together ♥️
With a very busy summer ahead I can’t wait to share with you all the adventures we will get up to and the beautiful dogs we will welcome into our home.
*no sheer drop on that cliff! Always keep your dog on a lead if you are not 100% sure it’s safe

Look who we met up with today ♥️
Bronagh still loving life in her new forever home. I‘m so glad nobody gave up on her and she now has this beautiful life after one of the roughest starts.
