3 more days to snag an 18-month desk calendar!
On August 1, all of the 18-month desk calendars will be swapped to 2024. If you're looking for something that covers the start of the school year through the end of next year, now's your chance to grab one!
My favorite is the Moths & Dreamy Book Quotes cal because it has gorgeous watercolor moths paired with my favorite inspiring and dreamy quotes from books.
I love having a calendar and a lunar calendar at a glance while also adding my style to my desk.

SPOILER ALERT: Just because I sell stationery doesn't mean I solely rely on it or say that's all you use.
From my personal experience and experimentation, I’ve found that digital and paper planners each have their pros and cons. And when they are used together in the right way, work in-sync.
When a digital planner is used by itself, the smaller daily details are lost, the constant checking and flipping between screens is distracting, and it wastes a LOT of time.
When a paper planner is used by itself, the bigger details, notes, and planning are lost long-term.
So queue in the happy medium. Using each of their pros allows you to get the best of both worlds and stay productive (and get back time for yourself). Let me share my way of doing things.
Go to https://shop.luckydogdesign.co/blogs/love-letters/digital-planning-versus-paper-planning-which-is-better and read exactly how I use both systems to create a seamless planning experience - all between working a full-time job, running a 5-figure business, and my personal life. Highly recommend!
A lot of cards can be recycled, but did you know that you could donate or reuse old cards you have saved up?
Here's how 👇🏼
1️⃣ If there's no writing on the back of the front flap of the card, cut that part off and turn it into a postcard! I absolutely adore the cards I see and think it's awesome that you can gift that joy to someone else.
2️⃣ Donate the same cut off part of the card to St. Jude's Ranch for Children! They help provide teens with life and work skills. They also accept unused cards with or without envelopes. The only thing is that they don't accept Disney, Hallmark, or American Greetings cards due to copyright laws.
3️⃣ The third option is plain and simple. If it's a recyclable card (like Lucky Dog's) and your recycling center accepts paper products, recycle instead of just throwing it away.

How is it already September? August was full of so many amazing and trying things, and I'm so excited for what a new month brings! What are you celebrating this month?
I found a few different fun "holidays" to celebrate if you're looking for a few excuses to connect and have a little fun.
📚 September 6 - READ A BOOK DAY - This falls on Labor Day! If you love reading, spend a little extra time doing what you love. For letter writers, send a list of your favorite recommended books to a pen pal.
💛 September 12 - NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY - Send a letter to your grandparents or with a penpal at a nursing home! You can always call up a nursing home and ask if there's anyone who would love to receive letters. They are absolutely cherished and brighten someone's day!
🎨 September 14 - LIVE CREATIVE DAY - This is such a fun one. This is a day meant to inspire yourself and others through creativity. Spend the day doing what you love, picking up a new hobby or craft, taking a class. I plan on taking a class myself!
🌍 September 21 - WORLD GRATITUDE DAY - Step back and think (or write) what you're thankful for. If there's a person on that list, send them a thank you note to let them know you appreciate them! This is also a wonderful day to thank employees, healthcare workers, teachers, etc.
These are also super fun to mix in with @snailmailkatie #snailmailseptember2021 September letter writing challenge on Instagram!
Wow, I just completely dropped the ball on so many things on vacay (but that's what it's there for, right?!). So here I am sharing fun "holidays" to celebrate in August on the 10th.
Early August is so full of fun holidays, so I missed a few. Here are a few left you could plan for!
Aug 15 - 21: FRIENDSHIP WEEK - Surprise your friends with encouragement cards and something they love this week. Make time with them if it's possible.
Aug 21: WORLD BEE DAY - Find some wildflower seeds and plant them. If you have extras, mail them off to people who'd plant them as well.
Aug 21: NATIONAL SENIOR CITIZENS DAY - Call a few local homes and ask if there is anyone who would love to be pen pals! You'll quickly find someone happy to write back and forth and would cherish the conversation.
Aug 26: NATIONAL DOG DAY - Honestly just put this on here to remind you to go hug a puppy.
I love talking snail mail and giving tips in my emails and on here. I've decided to start sharing them all in one place for easier reference. Here's the first Lucky Dog blog post all on the hardest type of card to send - sympathy cards.
"At the end of the day, speaking from your heart - no matter the fumbling or crossing out of words - is what matters most. Be their light in the darkest moments of life."

It's International Joke Day! Share a joke in the comments!
I'm sharing a list of fun snail mail-related "holidays" to celebrate in July. I decided this month to include more untraditional or unofficial holidays.
☀️ July 1 - International Joke Day: Send a letter to someone and include a joke somewhere. It could just be written out, or could be tucked away in an origami. It could be
☀️ July 11 - Cheer Up the Lonely Day: Reach out to someone to let them know you're thinking about them. You could include a game, scavenger hunt, recipe, playlist, horoscope or really anything flat.
☀️ July 15 - Give Something Away Day: Donate the fronts of cards people have sent to you to St. Jude's Ranch for Children to be re-used.
☀️ July 30 - International Day of Friendship: Send invites to your friends to celebrate the holiday in-person (and for those who don't live near you, send them an encouragement card to let them know why they're amazing).
Hiiiiii! I'm Kayla, owner and maker at Lucky Dog! I realized it's been at least a year since I've introduced myself, so I thought I'd tell y'all a little bit about the woman behind the cards (one is a lie, do you know which one?).
✨ I have been a major crafter since the age of 2. When I was really young, me and my grandma used to make greeting cards and paper from scratch, and when we were lucky to have it, we dyed the paper using fun-colored lint from the dryer. I truly believe she is who sparked my love for making and cards. To this day, I get the most amazing handmade cards from her that I will forever cherish.
✨ I LOVE the flow arts. I love to spin with my hula hoops, leviwand, silk fans and rope dart.
✨ I'm 28, and my favorite color is salmon/coral (you can always find at least one of them). I'm a leo and rising pisces. I'm enneagram 4w3.
✨ I've had the amazing opportunity to sky dive, and it was such an exhilarating and terrifying experience.
✨ I was a newspaper journalist in my past life, and I met and interviewed President Bill Clinton and Carlos Santana.
Today starts a brand new month with some incredible holidays to celebrate!
✨PENPAL DAY (today!): Reach out to a friend, family member, or someone random, using good ole fashioned snail mail. Play a game; send a list of favorite movies, shows or books; and have fun with it! My fave place to find a penpal is the subreddit @r.randomactsofcards
✨BEST FRIENDS DAY (June 8): Send your best friend an encouragement or thinking of you card. Let them know just how much you mean to them and how they brighten your day.
✨JUNETEENTH (June 19): Juneteenth is a celebration of the hundreds of thousands of Black people freed from slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865, 2.5 YEARS after the Emancipation Proclamation. If your state doesn't recognize it as a state holiday (Hawaii, North Dakota and South Dakota), send a letter to your state officials. Also, send a letter to your state representatives about making it a federal holiday!
✨FATHER'S DAY (June 20): A holiday for ALL fathers. Send a card to your father, father figure, and/or friend who is doing an amazing job as a father. Share your favorite memories and photos, or make more memories by using the card to invite them to spend time together or stuff it with tickets to an event you'd both enjoy.
