The other day I got out my camera and remembered that I had taken some nice photos of Groober for his last little photoshoot. I made sure to take photos of all my favorite parts of him.

Dear Groober, today I donated your toys to Sunny Skies animal rescue. I kept some of your favorites. Like your pizza and your squeakers. Its hard to let them go, but now a bunch of good boys and girls can put them to good use. You did a good job at breaking them in and testing them to make sure they were good toys. The other day your last Bark Box came in, im going to give that to my sisters boy Jerry. You would have loved this bark box. There are so many good things you could gnaw on and rip apart. One if them has your favorite kind of squeaker. Next we're going to find someone who could use your nice big memory foam bed. Someday we'll be ready to let go of your food bowl. But not yet. I think it'll be a while longer before I'm ready to wash your slobber away and let go of it. I know you would want those toys to be played with, even if you can't play with them anymore.
We picked up your ashes from the mortuary the other day. Its weird to know that all of you is now contained in a cherrywood box. Every bit of my big ol' boy contained in a little box. I put you on your favorite spot on the couch. Soon I think we'll put you on the mantelpiece so you can watch over the family. But for now you can stay on the couch. It'll be a long time before we're ready to let go of your stinky couch. It still smells like your corn chip paws. Even longer before we're ready to invite another dog into the house. I miss you so much.

Hello Groober fam, there's no easy way to say this. But, I have bad news. I will be completely transparent with you.
Our good boys health has been declining recently. On his most recent trip to the vet they discovered a large mass growing in groobers abdomen. We have confirmed that it is an inoperable tumor near his bladder. His legs have grown weak and he has let his family know that its time for him to go. So tomorrow groober will be going to cross the great rainbow bridge.
His story goes:
13 years ago my mom and my aunt took a trip to a distant rural town, to a place in the woods to help a family friend move some things out of her house. When they arrived they found the friend in a somber situation, she had discovered a litter of little black puppies in a pile of tires. Many of them had passed from the elements and sickness. But one remained. A young groober with a distended belly full of worms. Fur still caked with afterbirth and mud. After some deliberation it was decided, they would take the young groober home.
At the time, my sister and I were out at the mall having a shopping trip. My sister received an urgent call from mom asking us to cut our trip short and come home. I was annoyed by this change of plans, little did I know our lives would change forever that day. When I got home my mom told me to look in the bathroom. To my surprise I found a tiny black ball of fluff.
That day we deliberated on possible names for this young fellow. I wanted to name him "Tucker" I'm sure some other common dog names were suggested. But my cousin said the name Groober, or Gruber, depending on who you ask. After McGruber the parody movie of McGiver. And it just stuck.
He had his first bath in our kitchen sink. With lavender scented gentle soap. His first meal was eaten out of a small cereal bowl. Kibble soaked in water mixed with wet canned food.
13 years ago Groober, Gruber, Groobie, Gronber, Doober, or whatever you wish to call him, made his way into the hearts of so many people. Cementing himself forver as the goodness boy the world has ever known. 13 years. Half a lifetime ago for me personally. He was there for me since I was 13 myself. He was there for my family through everything. He saw me graduate, he stole many dinners from the kitchen counter, he took many poops in neighbors front yards (which we picked up of course).
Groobers favorite foods include carrots, yogurt, peanut butter, pepperoni, and whipped cream. At one point he weighed in at a whopping 120 pounds, so he went on a diet. Groober let us know if he approved of our latest crushes and flings. He helped us pick out many outfits for nights out. Groobers paws smell like corn chips. And his t***s smell like toxic waste.
I'm so sorry everyone, but the age of Groober the Good Boy is at an end. Thank you so much for sticking around with us and loving groober. He may not understand social media, he can't read, but I'm sure he knows how much he is loved by all of you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for following his journey through life. Goodnight.
