HAPPY ADOPTION DAY TO FURIOSA aka FURY! She went to her new home with Jason and Ali who previously adopted Freddy. Coincidently, both Heeler puppies were being given away at Christmas time at Walmart about a year apart. They both now are in a loving home together and have lots of hiking in their futures❤️

Calling Heeler lovers! We would love to hear from some of our past adopters for this girl Furiosa. She is truly in our hearts and we’ll be hard pressed to let her go anywhere except to the very best of homes. We really try to get every puppy/dog the best home but letting them go when you have fallen in love is difficult. Having history with an adopter and knowing who they go to makes it a little bit easier. We’re so happy to announce that Sparky was adopted a couple weeks ago. The family has said this…"Sparky hesitated the first initial days to nap even though he couldn't keep his eyes open. So Kevin laid down with him to help him relax, and they both feel sound asleep on the dog bed."

We are filled with joy for them all❤️

Yesterday we got a phone call from an unknown caller. It was a man asking if this was River’s Rescue. He then proceeded to ask if we had a dog by the name of Nyx (which we do). He then said her name is Harriet. And before we could ask any questions…CLICK! So we’re posting this in the event that it was you that made that call. We appreciate having her real name but would be love to ask some non judgemental questions.

Seven years ago today, Jen adopted Santi (on the right). Happy Gotcha Day to him! Since then, Jen has adopted two more pups from us…Nelson (formerly KJ) and Shadow (formerly Bart). I’m looking to rehome our beautiful boy Checkers. He was born June 15, 2021 and has always been a sweetheart! Checkers does pretty well with obeying and is house broken but is a chewer. The reasoning behind finding him a home however is not necessarily of his own fault. I as a dog owner have not been the best. I work A LOT and have not given training and walking and running the attention that is needed. Checkers is a border collie and therefore loves the outdoors and dirt and is energetic and extremely loveable. Checkers always greets with hugs. He’s a sweet boy and will likely calm a bit more once neutered but with the things happening in my backyard with the new pool, I fear he will get even less activity. With going full time private practice as well, my time will be even more limited here in the new year and I don’t want him to suffer because of it. He’s friendly and trainable to any new family’s ways I’m sure. Checkers has a neuter\Rabies vaccination appointment is Monday November 25.

Checkers is house trained and crate trained and does pretty well with recall. He pulls on the leash so could benefit from using a Gentle Leader. I have his crate as well to give. He is friendly to strangers and all other animals but because he’s happy and playful and thinks he’s tiny, others have been intimidated but he wouldn’t hurt a fly! He is scared of cats and has been around my moms pug this entire time as our yards have a connecting gate. Checkers is great with the dog I made a therapy dog who lives inside more, he has been around my tortoise since he was born and just disregards them. No separation anxiety. If walking, he wants to go up to the other dogs because he’s friendly but other dogs have been weird about that, which has made me limit that behavior. He hasn’t been good with birds or poultry.

Mia is a Great Pyrenees lab mix. She is a cuddly girl who loves playing with other dogs. She is housebroken and kennel trained. She will sleep in a crate and loves Kongs stuffed with peanut butter. Mia rides well in the car and is food motivated which helps with training. Mia needs to live with other dogs in order to be a happy girl as seen with her foster brother Cotton, who is also available for adoption. Her people should be around more than not, since she is a puppy and will need a routine and guidance. As with all dogs, Mia will benefit greatly from training. Meet Suzy Q.

"Suzy Q is a VERY sweet about 1 year old Heeler or mix that might be a little timid for a few minutes but warms up and bonds with humans extremely fast. No preference with men or women, good with kids as well.

She likes other dogs and is still feeling out her place with them, sometimes she shows a little resource guarding toward them and growls or chases them when she has a treat but is easily discouraged from doing so and there have been no fights. She has also completely ignored my cat, so she's suitable for a home either with or without other pets.

Potty training is almost completely on point - she might have a couple nervous accidents (submissive peeing), but she goes to the door to signal she needs to go out.

Good eater and food motivated, and doesn't appear to have any food sensitivities. Medium energy - she would love to go on hikes or adventures, but when I work she is happy to sleep under my desk all day.

I have heard her bark once or twice but she is not an overly vocal dog at all.

Suzy Q is still a young dog and will DEFINITELY chew things and get into trash cans, etc. Again she is easily discouraged and redirected, but keep in mind that a shoe or two may be sacrificed! She will also get mouthy when she is excited, but she is learning that she doesn't get pets when she's mouthy.

The biggest issue is probably separation anxiety - she does get anxious when I leave the house, and since she is in a chewing phase still, I crate her when I leave, and at night. She does very well in the crate overnight, but may be anxious when humans are gone. This will take some consistency and will likely improve as she learns the routine of her humans and gets settled in a home.

Sparky is a special boy! He is great with cats and most other dogs. Sparky is a lover of people too.
He had mixed energy…high when appropriate on walks for example-he gets the zoomies, calm in the house. His foster doesn’t use crates so when inside, he’s loose in the house. Sparky is potty trained and good on leash He is fostered in Mariposa, CA.
