🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully bred two incredible bird species: the Common Green Magpie (Cissa chinensis) and the Plush-crested Jay (Cyanocorax chrysops). This remarkable achievement was made possible through our collaboration with the expert breeder, and dear friend, Manuel Sierra Carmona.

A huge thank you to Manuel for his invaluable expertise and dedication to wildlife conservation. Together, we are making strides in preserving these magnificent species for future generations.

Discover the Majestic Palm-Nut Vulture! 🦅

Did you know about the remarkable Palm-Nut Vulture (Gypohierax angolensis)? These incredible birds are native to the dense forests and wetlands of sub-Saharan Africa. Let's delve into what makes them truly fascinating:

🔍 Unique Adaptations: With their striking appearance and specialized diet, Palm-Nut Vultures stand out among their avian counterparts. They primarily feed on the oily fruits of the oil palm tree, making them one of the few vulture species considered frugivorous.

🌳 Habitat Guardians: As guardians of the forest canopy, Palm-Nut Vultures play a crucial role in seed dispersal, aiding in the regeneration of their tropical habitats. Their presence helps maintain the delicate balance of these ecosystems.

👀 Distinctive Features: Recognizable by their dark plumage and contrasting white underparts, these raptors boast a wingspan of up to 1.8 meters. Their hooked beaks are perfectly adapted for extracting the nutritious pulp from palm fruits.

🌟 Conservation Importance: Despite their vital ecological role, Palm-Nut Vultures face threats from habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as from the unsustainable harvesting of palm nuts. Conservation efforts are essential to ensure their survival and the preservation of their habitats.

✨ Conservation Spotlight: Yellow-Billed Stork (Mycteria ibis) ✨

Did you know that the yellow-billed stork, is remarkably adaptable to short-term natural habitat changes? 🌿 This incredible species faces challenges in East Africa, where poaching and habitat reduction pose threats despite its stable population. 🌍

In East Africa, these majestic storks have been observed with broods of 1-3 per nest, showcasing promising breeding success. 🐣 However, their journey is not without challenges. Natural predators like cheetahs, leopards, and lions, along with the risk of egg predation by African fish eagles, make their conservation a shared responsibility.

In Son Comte, we are dedicated to raising awareness and working towards a sustainable coexistence between humans and these magnificent creatures. 🌟 While the yellow-billed stork is currently assessed as "Least Concern," our collective efforts are crucial in maintaining a delicate balance.

🦅 Mountain 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮 🌿

Meet the magnificent Mountain Caracara, also known as Phalcoboenus megalopterus. These striking birds are not just a stunning sight in the high Andes; they are also vital to our ecosystem and in need of our support.

🌎 The Mountain Caracara is a symbol of resilience, adapting to life at high altitudes where food can be scarce. They play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem by helping control populations of small mammals and scavenging carrion, thereby preventing the spread of disease.

🌱 However, habitat loss and human interference threaten their existence.

Let's stand together and ensure that these majestic Caracaras continue to soar through the Andean skies.

🌍 Join us in our mission to protect wildlife and preserve our future.

🌿 Restoring Brilliance: Captivating Common Green Magpie (Cissa chinensis) Colors!

Introducing our mission with foundation: to revive the stunning green plumage of captive Cissa chinensis populations.

Intriguingly, these enchanting birds boast vibrant greens in the wild, but captivity often dims their hues to turquoise-blue. The culprit? Lutein deficiency in their diet. 🍀

We're partnering to craft a lutein-rich gel feed, igniting a transformation back to nature's palette. Let's unite for the Common Green Magpie true colors to shine once again!
