This weekend I visited @mothersfinesturbanfarm in Winston-Salem as part of my farm tours in North Carolina. 👩🏾🌾.Y’all sister Samantha had it going on! From the Granny House which was cozy and comfy to the outdoor circle space, to the personal bee hive therapy, it was a heart warming time. 🫶🏾.To begin, she welcomed us to the space where she shared her personal story into beekeeping and we all shared our names, what brought us to the event, and expectations. Then we grabbed an instrument and headed to the outdoor circle space. 💫✨.Her supportive husband rolled us each a stump that they repurposed from a cut down tree for us to rest our rump and we wrote down and shared what we wanted to release this year in order to walk boldly into 2025 and then (my fvaorite part) we threw that into the 🔥 fire pit!.Next, we all had the option to enter a bee chamber that they personally constructed. It allowed one person to sit and commune with the bees (they were in an observation hive so you’re protected) and you attune to vibration of the bees natural calming c-frequency. 🐝🎵.While each person did their personal bee meditation, the rest of us did a group art project and made a nature mandala using flowers, beans, twigs, and candles to create something beautiful in harmony! 🌸🌈⭐️.Lastly, to close she let us watch her perform an apitherapy session—this uses controlled bee stings to help release inflammation in the body. Samantha is trained in this (so do not try at home) and has studied her material. It was amazing to SEE her care for her bees and people during this gathering. 🥰.Samantha was a fantastic host and curated a warm, authentic space that filled my cup. We need more beautiful spaces like this that remind us the importance of community and the gifts that come with gathering with safe, kind people. A bee stinger can continue to move and inject venom even after the bee has died. The stinger’s barbed shafts are controlled by a cluster of nerve cells that coordinate muscles, allowing the stinger to move back and forth, digging deeper into the skin and releasing venom into the wound. Bee venom is made up of 50% melittin and studies show how it can kill cancer cells.
