About Infinite Hope:

Infinite Hope is an all-volunteer IRS-approved 501(c)(3) not-for-profit animal rescue established in 2004. Because we are an all volunteer organization 100% of our funds goes towards the housing, care and placement of our animals. Our Board and volunteers donate their time and resources toward the cause of caring for and finding homes for abandoned animals, eliminating the pr

oblem of stray, unaltered animals in New York City, and caring for special needs animals until a permanent or foster home can be found. While in our care, all of our animals receive high-quality food, shelter, positive interaction with our volunteers and all necessary medical care, including a complete vet exam, spaying and neutering, (if 3 months of age or older) and testing for communicable feline diseases (FIV and FeLV). We have a network of foster homes so that our animals can receive care and attention until we have placed them with a loving and permanent home. All adopters are carefully screened. Volunteers spend time with potential adopters and available animals, to ensure a good match for all. We are committed to a 100% “no-kill” philosophy and will not accept animals beyond our capacity to care for them.

OUR CLOSING MESSAGE

After more than fifteen years, several thousand adoptions, and hundreds of TNR’d cats, Infinite Hope is closing. We have been winding down over the past few months and will officially close before the end of the year. As a small, all-volunteer organization we quite simply couldn’t maintain the time commitment that is required to continue this work.

When we made the decision to close, there were several adult cats that had been in our foster network for many months (a few for over a year!). Our devoted foster families heard the news that Infinite Hope was winding down and each decided to adopt their charges. We are delighted to celebrate these final adoptions and see these kitties secure their forever families!

Though our closing is bittersweet, we feel very proud of what we have accomplished with your support. As our adopters, donors, and partners, you have helped to make Infinite Hope’s rescue work possible. We are infinitely grateful for your role in saving the lives of thousands of cats and kittens since Infinite Hope was conceived.

Our heartfelt thanks also goes to our friends at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital of Brooklyn. They have been our veterinary partner since they opened in 2016 and provided both the highest standard of care and the utmost compassion for all our rescued animals. They have been incredible partners to us in this work, and they continue to provide care to many of our adopted cats.

Our email address remains active for the time being, while we wrap up our work.

With gratitude,
Maria, Michelle, & the volunteers of Infinite Hope

ADOPT US! Meet the Great Expectations litter: Pip, Magwitch, Jaggers, and Joe! These fellas were rescued with their mom in a Brooklyn backyard. They are about 8 weeks old and have had their first vaccines. They love to play, scampering all around, tumbling and chasing toys until they are all tuckered out, and then they crash in a sleepy kitten pile. Reach out if you're looking to adopt a pair of cuties! Neuter and microchipping is included with their adoption.

ADOPT US! Could these guys be any cuter?? We don't think so! Alfie and Luke really are the most awesome kitties -- they're sweet-tempered, loving, and just a little goofy. Finding a home for a pair of adult cats (even young adults) can be challenging, but these brothers are so bonded! They went through a lot, being abandoned by their original family and then miraculously reunited in foster care -- we just know that their story will end with a loving home together. Please reach out if you're looking to expand your family with a wonderful pair of kitties!

ADOPT ME! Claire is a brave and devoted mama cat who gave birth to her 4 kittens is a lawn bag under someone's porch! She protected and nursed her little ones until they were all taken in together and were safely in our care. Now Claire is in need of a safe and stable home so she will not have to return to the streets! Claire rubs up against her legs of her foster mom and asks to be petted, and also enjoys some couch time together. She will bat around a toy, but she is also content to relax. She expended a lot of her energy focused on her babies, so she is ready for some down time! She is approximately two years young and is now spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. If Claire sounds like a good match for you, please reach out to us!

We have the most amazing update to share!! Remember the cat who was left at the city shelter in the same carrier as a guinea pig? When we moved him to a foster home, he adjusted really well but seemed a little lonely and was meowing as though he was looking for someone. We knew that he had previously lived with his brother, but we didn't know where the brother had ended up. Last week we got the news that the brother was brought into a shelter after being found on the street! A microchip confirmed who he was and we were able to reunite Alfie and Luke in foster. They very quickly demonstrated their brotherly bond. We are now looking for a home for these guys TOGETHER! Please reach out if you are looking for an affectionate, playful, and gentle pair of happy kitties!

ADOPTED! Benny came off the streets with clear signs of ringworm, a fungal skin infection. After a few months of treatment (medication and smelly sulfur baths), he was finally ready to find his home -- and he found a great one! His adopter says, "Benny (renamed Mickey) has been doing very well! We integrated him slowly the first week and he has been getting less and less skittish every day! You still can’t walk right up to him, bend down, and pet him- he bolts! But if you go slowly or if he’s already relaxed it's all good. I caught him napping with our other cat today!" Happy adoption, Mickey!

ADOPTED! Dove and Finch waited such a long time to find their home, but in the end it was worth every minute! They found the most wonderful family, who don't care that their eyes have permanent damage from the infection they had when we took them out of the city shelter at 4 weeks of age. The family says, "They are just constantly purring and love to be petted and picked up and loved. They are so sweet! They are wonderful and we love them!" The family dog loves them, too! Happy adoption, Dove and Finch!

ADOPT ME! Alfie was abandoned in his carrier with a guinea pig, and they ended up at the city shelter in Brooklyn. This young fellow has the sweetest disposition! His favorite pastime is snuggling with his people and sleeping with them at night. During the day he enjoys playing with his toys -- he is curious and bit silly in nature. He will love his humans--but he also seeks the companionship of another cat, which we know he had in his previous home. We are looking for a new home for Alfie where there is another cat for him to play and snuggle with. Please reach out if you can provide a stable and loving home for this wonderful cat. He's about 3 years old and all up to date with veterinary care.

ADOPTED! Willie has been in his foster home since the fall, after he was rescued during a TNR project. His foster mom treated him for a terrible ear infection, helped him through some GI issues from possible food allergies, and now she's decided to adopt him! Happy Adoption, Willie! We're glad you're staying put.

ADOPTED! Sisters Faye and Zadie found their new home before the year was out and are having a great time together! Their adopter says, "I have to send photos of them when they're just waking up, otherwise they are racing around -- they don’t sit still! They are doing so well, we love them!" These girls are lucky enough to have a new dad who hand makes cat scratchers, so they have lots of options for scratching posts. Happy Adoption, Faye and Zadie (now Thelma and Louise)!

New research shows that cats are listening to us, even if they don't always show it. According to this article in the NY Times, "A study by French researchers that was published last month in the journal Animal Cognition found that not only do cats react to what scientists call cat-directed speech — a high-pitched voice similar to how we talk to babies — they react to who is doing the talking. According to Dr. de Mouzon, just because cats react in subtle ways doesn’t mean they are aloof.

'Cats don’t do what you expect them to do. But if cats don’t come when we call them, it may be because they’re busy doing something else, or they are resting,' she said. 'People have these kinds of expectations because when you call a dog, the dog will come. But if you call a human when they are having a nap at the other end of the house, would you go?''

Cats have a reputation for being aloof, but a new study has found that their relationships with their owners may be stronger than we thought.

ADOPTED! Nina was rescued from the street and was friendly from the get-go; she hardly needed any time to adjust in her foster placement. She went to her new home last week and her adopters say, "Nina is doing great. She’s very playful, curious, and she loves to cuddle. She also loves her food and snacks!" Happy Adoption, Nina (now Tinni)!

Faye was a little concerned about her visit to All Creatures Veterinary Hospital of Brooklyn with her litter mates, Benny and Zadie, until she got some Temptations treats and then all was well. These kittens are just under 3 months old and are about to be posted for adoption.

Benny was not pleased about having another lime sulfur bath today. Fortunately his ring worm (a fungal skin infection) is clearing up well and he won’t need many more smelly baths.

ADOPT US! Dove and Finch's foster family describe them as "ridiculously entertaining and so cuddly. They are the best! So playful and hilarious!" They were adopted when they were young kittens and were returned not longer after, but it's absolutely no reflection on their sweet personalities. This brother/sister pair are about 6 months old now and are looking for a second chance at a forever home!

Happy Halloween! Zadie, Benny and Faye are enjoying their Halloween fun house this morning. Benny is quite a bit smaller than his sisters but he holds his own in all of their wrestling matches (watch for his sneak attack near the end of the video). This litter has been in foster for about a month and will be ready for adoption very soon!

Our annual Strut Your Mutt fundraiser ends at midnight 10/31, so tonight and tomorrow are your last chances to support our team! Our medical bills are adding up and we could really use your help! Beemer spent the night in the hospital this weekend getting IV fluids and antibiotics to treat a very high fever. He’s back at his foster home now and we are hopeful that he’ll continue to feel better. Please consider making a donation of any amount. Thank you! https://support.bestfriends.org/site/TR/SYM2022/StrutYourMutt?team_id=10960&pg=team&fr_id=1631

ADOPT US! Cora and Summer are thriving in their foster home. They love attention from their foster family and have made friends with the resident dog and cats. But what these 4-month old sisters really need at this point is a forever family! They are such a great pair — please help us find them a home!

This poor guy can’t catch a break! Beemer has a surgical consult in two weeks for his wonky legs, but in the meantime he needed emergency dental surgery yesterday to remove all of his teeth. His vet at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital of Brooklyn said it was the worst mouth she’s ever seen in a 6 month old cat. He was in a ton of pain from inflammation and oral lesions — his body was basically rejecting his teeth as though they were foreign objects. We re-ran his bloodwork and it showed that he is positive for FIV, which provides some explanation (but it doesn’t mean that Beemer can’t live a long and healthy life!). If you can help with Beemer’s unexpected medical bills, please make a donation to our annual Strut Your Mutt fundraising campaign. Thank you!! https://support.bestfriends.org/site/TR/SYM2022/StrutYourMutt?team_id=10960&pg=team&fr_id=1631

ADOPTED! Poplin was recently adopted by her foster mom, and is now officially a permanent member of the family. She joins 2 other cats in the home, including Beverly, who was adopted from us about 3 years ago. Happy Adoption, Poplin!

SAFE! We rescued these sisters from a backyard in Prospect Heights a few weeks ago. They are older than the ideal age for socializing, but they relaxed and started purring in very short order! We think their mom is a friendly former house cat — we are working to get her on a regular feeding schedule so that we can trap, spay, and assess her. In the meantime, Jojo and Sally are safe in foster and will be ready for adoption this week.
