FAQ: What is a centralized Do Not Adopt database?
A: This will be a nationwide database available to verified animal rescues and shelters to aid them in making safer foster and adoption placements. The database will contain criminal animal abusers as well as bad adopters that have been reported by other rescues and shelters.
Most rescues and shelters maintain their own DNA lists, but with a centralized database, it will further assist other rescues to avoid a bad placement. All non-criminal DNA reports will be required to provide supporting documentation. Before being added to the searchable database, each one will be reviewed by legal counsel to protect against libel or human rights violations.
We are currently in the planning and fundraising phase of this project, so this is our vision of how the program will work, but it will all be done with legal consultation at every step.
