🦃🐾 Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Your Dog 🐾🦃

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, family, and (of course) delicious food! But amidst the festivities, it’s important to keep your furry friend safe. 🐕 Here are some tips to ensure a happy and healthy Thanksgiving for your pup:

🍗 No Turkey Bones or Fatty Scraps
Turkey bones can splinter and cause serious harm, while fatty foods can upset your dog's stomach—or worse, cause pancreatitis.

🍫 Keep Desserts Out of Paw’s Reach
Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free treats), and raisins are toxic to dogs. Let them enjoy a dog-safe treat instead!

🍽️ Secure the Trash
Leftovers and discarded items can be irresistible to curious pups but may contain harmful or dangerous items like aluminum foil, bones, or food wrappers.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Provide a Quiet Space
Holiday gatherings can be overwhelming. Create a calm, cozy spot where your dog can relax if the hustle and bustle become too much.

🚪 Watch the Door
With guests coming and going, it’s easy for your dog to slip out unnoticed. Make sure they’re wearing updated ID tags and consider crating them or using baby gates for safety.

🐶 Share Love, Not Food
Show your dog love with extra playtime, snuggles, or a special dog-safe Thanksgiving treat instead of table scraps.

Have a paws-itively wonderful Thanksgiving! 🐾

Planning to hit the road or skies with your furry friend over the holidays this year? A little preparation can make the journey safe and enjoyable for both of you. Here’s a quick guide for stress-free travel with your dog:

🛫 Pre-Travel Prep:

Vet Check-Up: Ensure your pup is healthy for travel and update their records.
ID Tags & Microchip: Attach a durable ID tag with contact details and consider microchipping.
Familiar Items: Bring their usual food, favorite toys, and a blanket for comfort.

🚗 Road Trip Musts:

Restrain Safely: Use a harness, pet car seat, or crate. Avoid letting them roam freely or stick their heads out the window.
Breaks Matter: Stop every 4 hours for potty and playtime.
Temperature Check: Never leave your dog in a parked car – heat and cold can be dangerous!

✈️ Flying Tips:

Carrier Ready: Invest in an airline-approved carrier.
Direct Flights: Minimize stress by avoiding layovers.
Post-Flight Care: Leash up and ensure your pup feels okay upon arrival.

🏨 Hotel Stays:

Research pet-friendly accommodations and check their policies on leaving dogs alone in the room.
💡 Pro Tip: Address travel anxiety through training or vet-recommended calming aids. Start with short practice trips to build your pup’s confidence!

✅ A safe, happy trip is paw-sible with planning! Let’s make memories, not mishaps.

🌲🐺 Did you know your dog’s behavior has deep roots in their wild ancestry? While our pups may look like couch potatoes, their behavior is often guided by instincts inherited from their wolf ancestors. 🐶✨
Wolves live in structured packs with clear rules and respect for boundaries—concepts that are just as important for our dogs today. Establishing yourself as the “pack leader” in a gentle, clear, and consistent way can help your dog understand their role and feel more secure in their environment. When dogs know what’s expected, they’re more likely to respond positively to training and adapt well to the world around them.
At , we use techniques that align with this natural canine mindset, creating a balanced, calm, and happy pup. Embracing the wolf within isn’t about dominance—it’s about mutual respect and communication, just like in a wolf pack. 🐾💙

What does my posture tell you?
A. This is a trust fall human ... catch me with belly rubs.
B. I have a back ache. May need some extra cuddles.
C. I may seem relaxed now, but if I hear the treat bag, I’m flipping faster than a pancake!" 🥞🐾

The answer is C.

😆 But in all seriousness, what does it mean when a dog shows you his belly? It can mean a few different things depending on the context:

1. Trust and Submission: Exposing the belly is a sign of trust, showing they feel safe and comfortable with you. It’s also a gesture of submission, signaling that they acknowledge you as a safe, non-threatening presence.

2. Request for Attention or Belly Rubs: Many dogs love belly rubs, so lying on their back could be a way of saying, “Hey, scratch here, please!”

3. Cooling Off or Getting Comfortable: Sometimes, especially on a warm day or after some play, dogs lie on their backs to cool down or stretch out in a comfortable position.

4. Playfulness: In play, a dog might roll on their back as part of the fun, especially with trusted humans or other friendly dogs. This could also be their way of inviting interaction!

Let’s transform your dog’s behavior and create lasting harmony at home. Ready to lead your pack?

🐾 Meet Chance, an 8-year-old Australian Cattle Shepherd Mix from Jupiter who's in training with Bark Busters! 🐕

Chance has been with his family for 7 years, and while he knows his basic commands, he's shown some territorial behavior when guests arrive, lunges on walks, and has trouble with boundaries around kids. Recently, he's been fixated on the pool and isn't listening when it's time to get out! 🏊‍♂️

With Bark Busters' guidance, Hailey is learning how to address these behaviors and help Chance become the calm, confident pup he can be. We’re working on boundaries, better behavior with strangers, and being less reactive around other dogs. 💪

Stay tuned for updates on Chance’s progress as we help him become more balanced and well-behaved! 🐶

Here’s how we can help:

Set Individual Boundaries: Each dog has their own personality—so setting clear, individual boundaries for each dog helps prevent jealousy and chaos.
