I’m insane… this is a 15 min training session boiled down to 28 seconds. Rebel is analytical, judgmental, lol, and runs on the more anxious side. I am pairing some quirky things with some chicken chips, as well as working place and playing the name game. Our end goal is just to help his mind work through what life throws at him. Slow and steady makes the dog less anxious ❤️🫶🏼
Let’s talk motivation! This video is intended to illustrate the difference in Oakley’s food motivation vs toy motivation. It was our first walk together and I was trying to get to know her. We were working up to her jumping on the chair. I start out with food, she’s motivated but still a bit hesitant, once I take out the squeaky toy she perks up and her tail goes wild! I was able to use that excitement to work up to her jumping on the weird metal chair. She was a certified good girl on our walk together! We then went and grabbed her new friend Winnie and they did great together.
There is always something around that can help you train your dog. In this case, Ollie and I used the cones left by the Elliott school. I don’t know if you can tell by the quality of this video that I am clearly a professional cameraman 🤣
Can we normalize getting on the ground and playing with our dogs? Today is Rebels official first day of our homeschooling program. The first chunk of the program will be focused on relationship building. I want Rebel to trust me and be confident next to me. I will then utilize our relationship to help him build his confidence. But first we play!
Dandy doesn’t have the best relationship with a leash. When tension is applied to the leash she gets stressed which leads to reactivity. The truth of the matter is she has two parents who use the leash in very different ways, one of us bett... -Dog training isn’t about blaming someone, or wishing for it to get better when realistically it won’t. Dog training is about doing what you can to better you and your dog’s relationship.

In this exercise I am tugging at the leash, and pairing it with food. The goal is for Dandy to have a better mindset when she feels tension on the leash. This is an exercise which uses an aversive, yes, but the goal is to help Dandy create a better mindset with it. This aversive is something she can’t avoid in life. She needs a leash to walk around the city to stay safe, it’s also the law. As much as we try to avoid tension on the leash, it’s unavoidable realistically. A goal with being a teacher for a human and for dogs is teaching your student how to not only overcome adversity in this world, but thrive. That is always my goal with my clients. Do you see how Dandy starts a bit reserved and confused, but you can see her getting happier and more excited each time the leash pops to then get a treat! My goal is always her happiness.

I will be posting some videos of what balanced training means to me and some exercises I use while training. I believe in full transparency, and wish more people did so within their training practices.
These two brothers have come SO FAR! Crew started off reactive to me coming in his house, and to other dogs, scared of the world, and lacking leash manners. Finn is nervous in certain situations and lacked leash manners. Look at these two walking so well on leash! Go Crew and Finn!
Today PJ, Maggie, Lucca, Mumu and I checked out a new park. Look at how great everyone is walking! Loose leash expectations are set no matter where we walk 💪🏻
10 week old Mookie’s first food chasing game with me. I want to build up the “yes” marker and “get it”. You can see her enthusiasm build for the game the more we play. I love using my client’s meals for this game which helps build their food drive. Mookie is one smart cookie 🍪
Ending Leo’s walk today with a massage! Massage has its benefits in people, and the same benefits can be seen in our canine companions as well. Not only can a massage help a pup to relax, but it can also help strengthen your bond with them.
