Newman has left us. He was 14 with severe arthritis. We were able to manage him for two years on meloxicam, but it no longer helped him, so the decision was made to let him go before he could no longer get up.

We just now lost 13 year old Betty.

Jesse broke his horn at the base. Rocky was fighting with him and cracked it then silly Jesse stuck his head through the fence and pulled back. Even worse was trying to get a painful goat in the truck and knocking his horn almost off. He became nearly airborne screaming. Vet sedated him, pain blocked, cauterized. It's possible he suffered a skull fracture, there's so much swelling. Jesse is feeling better (on pain meds.) And now I have a funny little unicorn.

Zipper made her way over the rainbow bridge. She lived to be 16 years old. Because arthritis became so painful that she only could hobble and she was being knocked over by the other goats, we asked the vet to help her cross over.

Update on Arthur... we kept up with the physical therapy following vet's recommendations. He got more movement in the leg, but now he's walking on the front of his ankle. Vet says he obviously has nerve damage. So, I hunted the thrift store and found a little girls shin protector. Fitted to the back side of his leg and wrapped with vet wrap. Arthur is ambulating with ease. I think he likes it!

Kenda Buckman is so weird. He always wants to stand on something to p*e. Yes, you are looking at a kid taking a whizz. Lol. On the other hand, the best thing in the world is paper, just ask Arthur.

Babies! Arthur has a non working front leg that is beginning to atrophy. He went to see the veterinarian today. Initially, I called to get an xray. Once there, his emotional support goat, Kenda Buckman, comforted him (and p*ed on the floor) while Arthur had several vets give him the once over. Arthur got a shot of LA200 (ouch! It stings!) Physical therapy 6 to 7 times a day was called for due to severe contracted tendons. Kenda Buckman didn't get off scott free because they both got BoSe shots. It was such a big day for the boys that they had to take a long nap once they got home. Revisit to to vet next week. Wish him luck!

Today, we're were forced to say farewell to our lovable, beautiful crooked Jeremiah. We will miss so much about him. The biggest one was his zeal for food. We always heard him eating and making "num num" sounds. His poor crooked little body proved his downfall and his legs failed him and became painful. Although we had a terrible winter storm causing so much damage, his loss was the hardest hit of all.

Skeeter and I hit the trail today along with members of Shasta Pack Goats. He was a good boy. His favorite part of the hike were eating the charred leaves left behind after the last fire.

Today we said farewell to Winter aka "Winnie". She lived with us for 14 years and started her time out being a "wild one". Over the last five years she became super friendly. While her heart wanted to keep going, her legs wouldn't let her. She was no longer ambulatory and could not rise or lay down on her own and could not walk. You were my winnie girl... my kissyface.

So much rain, making mud. Trying to muck the worse areas and put in 2 × 4s to divert water from entering hoop houses, but Looney is thwarting my attempts! He has to play with all the tools and stand on boards I'm trying to install.
