Wanderers’ Rest accepts unwanted or stray dogs and cats from Madison County, but is open to all Central New Yorkers who wish to adopt a dog or cat. Through its public education p

🎄🐾 What the Shelter Dogs at Wanderers Rest Humane Association Really Want for Christmas… 🐾🎄

If our sweet pups are still here for Christmas, they’ve put together a very special wishlist for the big day! Of course, a forever home tops every dog’s dream—but they’ve also collaborated (with plenty of tail wags and sniffs of approval) to make a list of things they’d love to unwrap 🎁

From new toys to keep their minds busy…
to soft, fuzzy blankets to snuggle into…
to beautiful leashes and collars so they can look extra snazzy for their future families…
these pups have worked hard on their Christmas wishes!

This 6-year-old Bully mix is brewed to perfection—goofy, loving, loyal, and ready to fill your home with warmth. 💛🐶

7 Brew hasn’t had the easiest start, but he’s more than ready for his happily-ever-after. He loves people, he thrives on attention, and he’s always down for an adventure. Hiking? He’s lacing up. Hide and seek? That’s his FAVORITE blend! He’ll sprint full speed with his nose working overtime to find his handler—and the proud wag when he does is sweeter than any caramel latte. ☕️✨

❄️💤 Dancer has an important announcement! 💕🐾
Our sweet Bully mix wanted everyone to know that the shelter will be closing one hour early today at 4 PM due to the cold, snowy weather rolling in. We’ll be back open for our normal hours tomorrow!

For now, Dancer and all her shelter friends are snuggling in early, staying warm, and dreaming of the forever homes they deserve. ❄️❤️

🎄✨ Sweet as a candy cane and twice as charming… meet Bridgit! ✨🎄
This 1-year-old Lab/Pitty mix just had her very own candy cane photoshoot, and let us tell you—she is every bit as sweet as sugar. 🍭❤️

Bridgit is dog selective, which simply means she clicks wonderfully with some pups and prefers not to hang with others. But when it comes to people? Oh, she is ALL IN. With her wagging tail, soft kisses, and those irresistible puppy-dog eyes, she will do absolutely anything to make you fall in love with her. And honestly… it works. 😍

This beautiful girl adores attention—hugs, pets, kisses, chin scratches… you name it, she’ll take all the love she can get. 💕

The holidays are getting closer, and we’ve got a shelter full of pups as sweet as sugar all wishing for their own home this Christmas! 🎄❤️ Some of our cuties aren’t quite available for adoption just yet, but they didn’t want to be left out of our sweet candy cane photoshoot 😋—so consider this your sneak peek at who will be ready soon! 😉

These pups are eager to find their forever families, and many are hoping they’ll be home in time to cozy up under the tree. We truly have a dog for every household:

🐾 Blitzen – our 1-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever mix with a heart of gold and the goofiest puppy charm.
🐾 Bridgit – a young girl who absolutely adores people and loves soaking up attention.
🐾 Dancer – our holiday diva who loves people, enjoys other dogs, and lives to show off her sweet moves.
🐾 7 Brew – the ultimate adventure buddy who’s just as happy hiking as he is snuggling on the couch.
🐾 And our soon-to-be-available sweethearts – not quite ready for adoption but every bit as lovable and excited to find their future families. ❤️

Need your morning dose of caffeine to kickstart the day? Then get yourself some 7 Brew—the pup, not just the coffee! ☕🐶

Brew came to us as a stray, and after waiting patiently with no owner coming to take him home😔 he’s now sporting his cutest bandanna and biggest smile, hoping to find a forever home to call his own.

This handsome, oversized latte of a boy would love to be your one and only pet—he likes all the attention (and treats!) to himself. Because of his size and goofy enthusiasm, he’d do best in a home without young kids.

Other than that? Brew has been absolutely fantastic during his stay and even got some training to make sure he’s all set and ready for his new adventure.

‼️LOST DOG FOUND‼️
Male, black and white large mixed breed dog (unsure of exact breeds) found in the City of Oneida on North Willow Street yesterday 12/8/25 at roughly 6:30 pm. He came to us wearing a blue collar we don't see any tags. He is not happy to be here so if we could get all your help to hopefully find him his owner and help him get home that would be great!
‼️Dog MUST be up to date on rabies and licensed in order to redeem per NYS Law, if the dog is not we will help to get them up to date and licensed‼️

🎄✨ Holiday Foster Breakouts! ✨🎄
While Santa’s elves are busy at the North Pole, three of our shelter pups pulled off their own Christmas miracle… they broke out of the shelter and straight into loving foster homes! But now they’re each dreaming of one more gift under the tree — a forever home of their very own. ❤️🐾

🎁 Tony – 4-year-old Lab Mix
Our big goofy boy Tony has been living it up in foster! He’s great with other dogs, adores people, loves kids, and has taken full advantage of bothering his foster sister whenever he decides it’s playtime — typical little brother energy 🤣 The only thing on Tony’s naughty list? Cats… he thinks they’re way too fun to chase. He’s thriving in foster, but he’s more than ready to hang his stocking in a home of his own.

🎁 Gladis – Our Sweet Senior Queen
Gladis has discovered pure holiday magic: a warm wood stove. Her foster mom has caught her dozens of times sitting like the refined lady she is, paws crossed, soaking up the heat like she owns the place. She loves people and kids, and she’d prefer to be your one-and-only furry friend. Gladis has been an absolute angel in foster — now she just needs a fireplace (and a family) of her very own. ❤️

🎁 Cora – 1-year-old Lab/Pit Mix Beauty
Cora joined her foster family right before Thanksgiving and has been a complete sweetheart ever since. She loves dogs, loves people, and has been nothing but amazing for her foster parents and foster dad. Her heart is huge, her personality is adorable, and she’s so ready to spend her next holiday season in her forever home. (We’re not sure about cats yet!)

✨ Meet Blitzen — your holiday magic wrapped in fur and puppy energy! ✨

Named after one of Santa’s very own reindeer, Blitzen is a 1-year-old golden retriever/yellow lab mix with a giant heart of gold. He’s still very much a puppy at heart—goofy, playful, eager to learn—and with how smart he is, he’s sure to make training a breeze.

When Blitzen first meets new people, he might let out a bark or two… but don’t let that fool you. Two seconds later he’s leaping into his handler’s arms like, “Protect me, human!” 🥹💛 That’s just his way of saying he’s still figuring out this big world, and he’d love someone patient and loving to guide him.

Blitzen seems to be dog selective, and honestly… he might do best as the only dog—
I mean reindeer 🦌—in your life 🤣

What he does adore without question? People. All people. Every person. He’s pure lab/retriever charm: silly, loyal, playful, and ready to make every day a little brighter.

This boy is determined to find his forever home before the holidays. So the real question is…
