Colton and Cora are more than ready for Thanksgiving — just look at those tongues and tails! These two cuties are licking their lips and wagging nonstop, clearly excited to dive into a big, delicious turkey dinner. 🍗💛 Even though they’re spending the holiday in the shelter, don’t worry… they’re getting plenty of extra food, treats, and love to make their day a little brighter.

But what they’d really be thankful for is a family of their own. 🧡
We are closing early today at 3 PM so all of our pets can wind down, get cozy, and rest up — which means there’s still time for Colton, Cora, and many of their friends to find their forever homes before the holiday truly begins. The countdown starts now… will they make it out in time?

A huge shoutout to Mrs. Malenowski’s third grade library class at McConnellsville elementary school! We visited with Lady the dog and did a presentation for the students. This awesome class raised almost $700 for the shelter! Thank you so much for inviting us to speak with you and thank you for the wonderful donation!

🍂🧡 Meet Cora — the little blessing waiting to be your Thanksgiving miracle! 🧡🍂

Cora is a stunning 1-year-old black Lab mix who recently came to us as a stray, and even though she’s one of our newer pups, we’re determined to make her stay a short one. This girl deserves to be celebrating Thanksgiving in a home, surrounded by love, warmth, and maybe even a second helping of turkey. 🦃💛

When Cora arrived, she was on the skinny side, so she’s looking for a family ready to spoil her absolutely rotten — the kind of home where she can enjoy a holiday feast that helps her plump right up and feel safe and full for the first time in a long time. She’s more than ready for cozy blankets, yummy treats, and a family who will remind her every day that she’s finally home. 🛏️🍗

Cora adores people and loves other dogs, making her the perfect little friend for a playful pup household. As for cats, she doesn’t pay much attention to the ones here in kennels — which is a great sign! — but we can’t say for sure how she’d do in a home with one. She walks nicely on a leash, has a big brain full of basic commands, and is eager to show off how smart she is for the right family. 🐾✨

No dog deserves to spend the holidays in a shelter, especially not this sweet girl. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to add a new furry family member… this is it. Come meet Cora today and give her the Thanksgiving she’s been dreaming of. We’re open until 5 PM, or you can put in an application online.

Say hello to Colton, our adorable little Boston Terrier mix who’s hoping this Thanksgiving week brings him the biggest blessing of all — a forever family of his very own 🧡🦃

At around 5 years old and only about 25 lbs, Colton is our smallest guy in the shelter, and as you can see from his photo, he’s the perfect little buddy to scoop up and hold close. Don’t let his size fool you, though — he is FULL of personality, love, and playful energy. This sweet boy loves absolutely everyone he meets, and he especially LOVES other dogs! He’s the kind of pup who brings joy into every room he walks into.

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, Colton is dreaming of being curled up on a couch, surrounded by a family he can adore… maybe even getting a little taste of his very own holiday dinner. He wants nothing more than to have a family to be thankful for this season, and he’s determined to find that home before the holiday arrives.

✨ Gladis Update — Foster Life Looks Good on This Sweet Senior! ✨

Our beautiful Gladis finally caught a break… and it came in the form of an amazing foster home! 💖
If you’ve been following her story, you know Gladis came to us as a stray from Utica. Her former family, heartbroken but unable to reclaim her, trusted us to help her find the very best home possible. And like many dogs who come from a home, Gladis struggled deeply with shelter life. She rubbed her nose raw on her kennel bars trying to get out — a sign of just how stressed she was, just like our friends Cinnabon and Joji.

But today? Gladis is warm, cozy, and finally able to breathe again. 🥹
A kind foster stepped up to give this senior girl the break she desperately needed, and we couldn’t be more grateful. All the photos you see are Gladis soaking in the foster life — and trust us, she is LOVING it.

Her Foster Mom tells us:
🛋️ Gladis has declared the couch her personal throne
🌳 She enjoys roaming the yard
🛁 She had a bath… which she had MANY protests about 🤣
🚗 She rides great in the car
🚶‍♀️ Loves going for walks
🔥 And her absolute favorite? Sitting in front of the wood stove soaking up every bit of heat she can (just look at that first picture!)

Gladis adores kids and people, but she would be happiest as the only pet in her home — she loves having all the attention to herself.

She may be enjoying the comfort of foster care, but she is still searching for her forever family. If this sweet, snuggly senior has captured your heart, please send in an application or give us a call to set up a meet and greet!

We want to say a huge, HUGGEEE thank you to The Eclectic Chic for working with us and hosting such a fantastic event! Also a large thank you to ShelterUp Photography for taking photos of the countless families, dogs, and even cats that came in for festive photos!
This event was fantastic and we couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out, thank you to everyone that showed up. All photos will be sent digitally within 48 hrs! Again thank you all so much and we hope to do more amazing events like this again. ❤️❤️❤️

Todays the day!!!!!!!!!
Can you tell that we are excited? The day is finally here for our Mistletoe & Mutts Holiday Photoshoot event. This event is a partnership between The Eclectic Chic, ShelterUp Photography, and Wanderers Rest Humane Association.
Come on out and get a festive photo taken of your dog for only $10! Who could say no to that? Not only that but from what I heard there are rumors that there will be a Jolly guy with a big white beard and red suit hanging about! Maybe you might catch a photo with him if you truly believe 😉
So come on out, show us some holiday spirit, and enjoy a fun filled event full of wagging tails and wet noses. Not only that but this event will be held in Eclectic! So if the line is too long or if you finish getting your photo taken, go ahead and feel free to look around. They have some pretty cool stuff; you might find a few things you will be bringing home, maybe get a little bit of that Christmas shopping out of the way?

Female, young pitbull found in the City Of Oneida on Farrier Ave, she was found on the 20th with a pink collar but no tags and no microchip. If you know this sweet girl please contact the shelter and help us get her home! She is just a doll ❤️
‼️Dog MUST be up to date on rabies and licensed in order to be redeemed per NY State Law‼️

🪩🕺🏼BOOGIE WITH WOOBIE🕺🏼🪩

Woobie has seen a few dogs make their way out today and he is determined to find his own home to go to today as well.. so how is he gonna convince you to take him home?
By BOOGIEING!!
Woobie is showing off his best dance moves to hopefully catch your attention and get you to take him home, this big block head is nothing but a sweet heart! At only a year old this sweet boy is dancing with any person he meets, he is a huge people dog and really wants attention from anyone, he doesn't care young or old, a stranger or not, if you've got a heart beat he wants to boogie and party with you. Woobie seems to be dog selective which is fine, just like people not everyone gets along, we don't know how he is with cats as we have no safe way to test at the shelter. Woobie deserves his own home, and we know it might be wishful thinking but we are hoping he can find that home today. As I type this he is putting on a strike, refusing to go back to his kennel as all he wants is to go home ❤️ so please if your not busy come on in today to meet Woobie, he won't disappoint you ❤️ we are open until 3 pm!

Holiday Paws and wagging tails are what you are all gonna get on December 5th at our Holiday Paws event!
Joji is here to let you all know he has his festive spirit cranked all the way up and is ready to have an amazing time. The event will be taking place at the Cavalry Club in Manlius NY. You will be met with a welcome drink, multiple different food stations to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy, a photo booth, multiple amazing raffle baskets, and a card trick performer to entertain you through the night.
