Product returning soon. I used to make these…but I never wrote down the instructions or dimensions. You know, like ya do.

This is a treat ‘stache on a tug. Why? Great question, I’d love to tell you (♥️ Elyse Myers).

As a generality, I think that dogs that run for food in flyball are running in a different drive than those running for a toy. I think that is one reason so many people prize their dog running for a toy in flyball.

We don’t get to pick what is reinforcing for a dog, they do. So no matter how much we want it something it isn’t in our or our dog’s best interest for force that.

We can, however sometimes influence it and nudge things a little. And one way to think about nudging it is using the prey sequence.
There are lots of versions of this but one of them is:

Orient
Stalk
Chase
Grab bite
Kill bite
Parade
Dissect
Consume

And one way to nudge our dogs is to have them fulfill the things next to the one of these they really dig, and also participate in more of them.

So rather than your dog returning to you in flyball and getting their food delivered to their face, we can help them participate in the prey sequence by orienting to this toy as a target, chasing it down as you run away in the runback, grab-biting it from your hand, dissecting by shoving their face down in the ‘Stache portion and consuming the edible prize you have hidden in it.

Making their return as much a Reward Event as the dogs running for a tug.

This one turned out a smidge short so I’ll be listing it as a prototype as a cheaper price early next week. Hopefully all the tricks of making them will come back to me as a work on a few more!
