The Art-Casso Story
The first Pup-Casso™ was done by a Golden Retriever named Fletcher. Fletch was rescued from the local ASPCA in 1988 after being found wandering the streets. We took him in on a two-week trial and he could not have been a better behaved dog. He came when called, slept in his own bed, stayed off the furniture, and just couldn't have been a more perfect dog. Two weeks later, we c
alled the ASPCA to let them know that Fletcher was going to become a permanent member of our family. It was as if Fletcher understood what we had said on that call, because everything changed that day! Suddenly, we couldn't go to bed without Fletcher being between us. He would take off and refuse to come back until we got in the car and took him for a ride. And when we opened the door to let him in, Fletch jumped furniture, broke lamps, and wiped his wet fur on the furniture! If you reprimanded him, he just looked at you with the biggest, sweetest eyes anyone could imagine. If you were sick, Fletch would sit by your side and not leave to even eat. He was the best dog and the worst dog we ever had! One day, while repainting our living room, Fletcher wouldn't stop pestering me. He wanted to help of course; he was trying to put his nose in the paint. Finally, I went inside and got a piece of canvas paper and let him try his paw at a masterpiece. I poured out some paint and had him walk through the paint and onto the canvas. Then we spent and hour with the garden hose! His painting hung on the refrigerator for years. In 1999, Fletch developed a large, inoperable tumor. We came home from the vet, having said our last goodbyes, and, on an impulse, I took Fletcher's painting off the fridge and had it framed. Years later, in 2006, while having coffee with a friend at my home, she asked about the painting on the table. We reminisced about Fletch, and while we talked, I realized that that painting had become one of my most cherished possessions. Its presence kept Fletcher in our home. Shortly thereafter, Art-Casso was created, a method by which your pet can create a memorable masterpiece to cherish--a masterpiece without making a mess!
