The Real Stray Cats of Madison County There isn't a rescue in this area that takes cats. So I just feed, vet, and try to find homes for the rando strays that show up. This is their page.

I call this one Drama Cat. Drama Cat is not a stray, I'm pretty sure Drama Cat lives a couple of door down, and is well fed and cared for. Drama Cat does not eat the food here, or interact with the Strays in any way. Drama Cat just comes to sit and watch them, and silently judge.

🎼 Have yourself a merry little Kitmas, may the food be wet... From now on may you never have to see the vetttt.... 🎶

Gandalf the Stray, Mr. Rochester, and Biscuit are all laying peacefully in a circle... this is sort of a minor miracle, because generally speaking everyone hates Biscuit. Maybe peace is in the air? Maybe it's the eclipse? It's probably because they only get wet food when they're all together though.

The first pic is from late May, that was the first time Gandalf The Stray showed up. He was skin and bones, sick, frightened, and had gaping infected wounds in all over. I actually called him Church at first because he looked like he just dug himself out of a Pet Sematary (sic.) The second pic, I just took, in celebration of the last of those wounds finally being healed. Look as him! Fat, sleek, healthy, happy, and hamming it up!

How I tell the black cats apart:

Shinobi is shy, gentle, and graceful.

Mr. Rochester is kind of grumpy, walks with a limp, and flops over in front of me when I try to walk pretty much anywhere. Don't try to go in for the belly rub though. This is definitely a trap.

I had to put drops in Gandalf The Stray's ears today, to treat a persistent case of ear mites. The drops can be irritating, and temporarily make the itching in his ears worse. He was not happy, and I thought he might swat me for my efforts... but no, instead (after shaking his head in annoyance for a second) he ran straight to me to be comforted and cuddled. Thus proving once again that he is the sweetest cat ever.

Biscuit made an appearance tonight. Biscuit loves pretty much everyone, but all the other cats hate poor Biscuit. No doubt because he's the only one here I haven't managed to get fixed... he ain't too bright, but he has this uncanny ability to completely disappear right before vet appointments. I've been trying to feed the gang wet food whenever he shows up to improve relations. It's not really working, peace last exactly the amount of time the food does.

I haven't talked about this, because it's a real bummer for everyone involved, but Gandalf The Stray's adoption didn't work out. The potential adopters dog was too excitable and jealous of the new critter in the house. So Mr. The Stray has sadly rejoined the cast of The Real Stray Cats of Madison County. He's re-adapting to porch life, but this is still a guy who was born to be a house cat. He's fixed, up to date on shots, unreasonably affectionate, and available for adoption. He does fine with both cats, and mellow dogs.

He also has this habit of sticking his head directly into the stream of kibble every time I fill the food bowl... Please consider making him your's. Of all the cats that I feed and look after (I only post about the ones that take to the porch and move in,) this is the one that most desperately needs his own person and a couch to cuddle on.

I'm finally taking everyone's advice and giving this feline soap opera its own page. Stay tuned for updates, drama, and adoptable cats!
