Our pony club received this message today from Julie Moffett of the Ashburton Guardian. If you have had any fireworks issues in the past, please get in contact with her. I personally dislike them but loved them as a kid. Rakaia Lions? hosts a fab community event for fireworks and I think they run a great event....so please get in contact with Julie if you would like to comment on your horses behalf!
Hi there. I'm a reporter at the Ashburton Guardian and am doing a story on animals and fireworks. Was wondering if anyone from the pony club has had any bad experiences, and if someone would have a chat to me? Thanks Julie

Thanks to all our members who help out with the maintenance of the grounds throughout the year. We have had a team of natives (that’s the plants) that were donated and planted (thanks ADC) many bales of straw donated for the plants (thanks Drummond Contracting) a tractor used to shift the bales (thanks JLee Driving Contractor) a village of natives (that’s the people/ members/ whanau) that planted the other natives, a tractor and roller appeared and the hay/show paddock got rolled (thanks Canterbury Dried Foods/ TeamO) and today J&N Hedgecutting loaned their tractor and Driver John McD to shift the XC jumps out of hay paddock and around in working paddock so a nice tidy up can sorted. Another thanks to the team who cleaned up the poo off the arena after todays riding clinic. I didn’t see you but was told how awesome it was, thank you! If I have missed anyone, I apologise, actually yes the wounded warrior who helped me pickup the jumps and build a new course last Sunday before rally. And another one I must mention is the tractor Mum who gets on MF35 and makes it do some work. Thank you!

Riding track mown for grounds users. Track is almost 1km around the perimeter of big paddock. Centre of paddock is kept for hay. Orders for conventional bales will be collated when it looks close to making hay. Available to members and non members. Quality is very good meadow hay suitable for competition horses as it has clover mixed among grasses and is usually what I use mid Winter when horses need a premium hay.

Happy birthday to our Spring riders, Taylor was today, Katie on last Thursday and Grace who may be tomorrow. Riders rode this morning, we had lunch and a sing song, talked about shows and lessons coming up and then did some HM on bandaging tail and legs. All horses and ponies are starting to look great coming into Spring. Lovely shine to their coats!

Don’t share Mill Creek’s secret.

Mill Creek Pony Club is a small family based pony club where children learn skills to allow them to branch off into the discipline of their choice. Our members love to go out and have a go at a variety of events but as a branch, Mill Creek is not competition driven. Low key with a bit of fun, Mill Creek have lovely grounds and we don’t need to tell too many people as to what a cool pony club it really is. Friendly and feels like I’ve returned home have been some nice descriptions about Mill Creek. Our riders are all independent riders aged 8 years and over and with a nice group of 10 years to 14 years.
