RESEARCH YOUR BREEDDDDDDDDDD...........
Something that is driving me a little bit mad recently is people taking home a dog that they've done limited research into and then asking for tips or tricks to stop that dog performing BREED SPECIFIC BEHAVIOUR.
Make your life easier and pick a breed that hasn't been bred for hundreds of generations to display behaviour you don't like.
If you like a quiet dog, probably wouldn't recommend a beagle or a shepherd.
If you don't want a sniffy dog, don't get a spaniel.
If you don't want your dog picking up and carrying things they shouldn't, don't get a Labrador.
People happily will consider physical traits: low shedding, size, colour, grooming requirements etc but often forget the behaviour traits.
Cockerpoos for examples are not teddy bear sofa dogs, they are two high energy, clever, working dogs that have been combined together.
(Cue the comments saying people's cockerpoos are lazy 🤣)
Your dog also doesn't know it's just a pet dog if it comes from a working line. If your dog has been bred for generations from working line parents that doesn't just switch off because you've decided it's now a pet with no job.
I won't get certain breeds because they don't suit me and vice versa, that's not to say I don't like or appreciate them, I just know we'd stress each other out 😆
