We just received these photos from Farley's fantastic family! Farley came to us several years ago very anxious and seemingly unhappy. His anxiety made him nippy, but our staff and walkers worked with him diligently and he became everyone's favorite! His first adopter loved him but failed to heed our warning that he should not come face to face with strange dogs. He was returned. We took time waiting for the right family to come along. I think we nailed it!

Yesterday the foster, who is a prior adopter, arrived to take the very pregnant , Alaska, to her home which is about 15-20 miles from the kennel. We called on one of our volunteers to keep her until the foster arrived after the vet told us she was ready to delivery any time now! The volunteer reported that Alaska was still remote and uncertain about whether she liked being touched and certainly didn't want hands near her face, BUT by the time she was picked up, her whole demeanor changed. Both the foster and volunteer were duly surprised. Alaska was ready for love, affection, and attention suddenly! Here is a photo of Alaska at her foster home. Couldn't have asked for a better family.

URGENT NEED FOR A FOSTER HOME FOR A PREGNANT DALMATIAN! This beautiful girl, named Alaska, was turned over to us Sunday. She was being abused by the owners' other 2 big dogs. The neighbor intervened and brought her to us. We did not know Alaska was pregnant and, indeed, it appears she is about to give birth very soon! WE URGENTLY NEED A FOSTER HOME FOR HER! She needs to give birth and care for her puppies in a quiet, secure environment so she remains healthy and a good mom to her puppies, and the puppies grow up happy and healthy and can be readily adopted. If you can help by fostering Alaska, please text or phone us at 949/374-1002 or email us at [email protected]. Messaging through this site has been sketchy, so please use the email address. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. PLEASE HELP US HELP ALASKA! Thank you!!!!

This beautiful Lab mom delivered Lab/Dalmatian mix pups on Saturday. Another rescue was scheduled to take the mother before she had the pups. Mom and her pups are shelter bound unless someone helps. We are full to the gills, so cannot take on more. If you are interested or want more information, contact us by email at [email protected].

This is BG, now BB, a dal pit I rescued from the small Wasco shelter in Kern Cnty. One of my all-time favorites. No question she’s part pit but you couldn’t ask for a sweeter girl. So very glad we were able to save her. She sure dispels the myth about pit mixes!

Some Fantastic News. Bonded adult cattledogs, Rocky and Pearl, found their forever home Sunday with this pair of cattledog lovers. They were turned in to one of the high kill Riveside shelters last March. We didn't think they'd make it out so we took them. The months passed with no interest. Then last week we were contacted by this lovely couple living in AZ, they said they'd been looking since December for a bonded pair of cattledogs. We set up a "meet and greet" last Sunday and voila, a perfect match. The pups are adults, not seniors or youngsters so they will fit in well with this couples' 'traveling lifestyle, living sometimes in AZ and during the warmer months, in Canada where their new dad is from. 'We were so excited to see these two lovely pups off with their new family. I so love keeping bonded pairs together . and a pair of middle age cattledog adults getting to be RV nomads in their new life .. you really couldn't ask for more. Enjoy!

Some sad news to report. Spicey renamed Stella passed yesterday in her mom's arms and with her k9 buddy Bruna next to her. She was at least 12 and was being treated for squamous cell carcinoma. Nearly 8 fantastic years with her new family after being rescued at age 7 from the scary South LA shelter. She had the most fantastic life any pup could have and she loved every minute of it. Here she is with her bff after a trip to the beach. Not much better than that. And now she's running free, over the Rainbow Bridge with lots of fun pupster friends. Rest in Paradise Stella. Run Free Sweet Girl!!!

Just received a lovely photo of two of our rescued dalmatian boys, loving life. The boy on the right, Tanner, adopted some years back is now 13, and Snoopy, on the left, adopted last year, is now 6'ish. Some lucky boys I'd say. Sure does make me smile. Enjoy!!!

Another fantastic adoption to celebrate. The adopter planned on adopting young petite Bonnie but ended up taking home 100 lb big boy Benny who just came in from the San Jacinto shelter in Riverside . Such a very nice well mannered boy, so much less dog than busy Bonnie despite his much larger size. So I suggested she look at Benny, and voila, the perfect match. Benny is a very calm boy, a perfect companion for his new k9 buddy who is a bit nervous. And you might recognize the buddy's face in its resemblance to Pixie and Paige .. he's their brother. Same handsome liver spotting and nervous disposition. We couldn't have asked for a better match. Enjoy!

Wanted to share this lovely adoption photo of Mr. Stewie, finally finding his forever home after being rescued from the Orange County shelter with the help of Paradise Valley Rescue many months back. Such a lovely boy, so glad he now has a family of his own to love. His new mom is a prior adopter and a multiple dalmatian owner so he'll be well loved and cared for. Sure do enjoy all of their big smiles, including from his new k9 buddy. Yay for Stewie!!! Enjoy!!!

I wanted to share this lovely photo of longtimers Bianca and Casper. Rescued back in March of 2015 from the East Valley LA City shelter, they were adopted and returned multiple times. Bianca now lives in Kym's house but occasionally spends time with her brother Casper. They remain very bonded and enjoy going on walks together. So while these pups never found their own home, they undoubtedly consider the Second Chance kennel as their home. Certainly they've been loved and well cared there by Kym, Kenny and the various walkers and volunteers. Not too shabby I'd say. Enjoy!

Our Story

Dalmatian Rescue of Southern California, Inc. was borne from the love of a childhood dog, who just happened to be a Dalmatian. Surprise! When all the adults around were too busy to stop and often notice what was going on and acknowledge feelings, this dog showered kisses and taught values such as, loyalty, friendship, kindness, patience, faith, and LOVE. This is the drive behind DRSC, Inc. That love became our calling and all the people who work with us, seem to feel the same way. There are few things as precious in life as the companionship of a four-legged friend. Of course, one with spots is an added bonus!
