The Massac Quilters Guild have been busy this past year quilting another special quilt to be raffled off for This Able Veteran at the Paducah Quilt Show April 24 - 27th.

The quilt depicts the Underground Railroad coded messages for enslaved persons seeking freedom. According to legend, a safe house along the Underground Railroad was often indicated by a quilt hanging from a clothesline or windowsill. These quilts were embedded with a kind of code, so that by reading the shapes and motifs sewn into the design, an enslaved person on the run could know the area’s immediate dangers or even where to head next.

The event is open to the public and their booth will be located on the second floor of the American Quilt Museum and visitors are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets to win the quilt shown below.

This Able Veteran thanks the Massac Quilters Guild for their selfless donations of time and effort!

For all you local supporters of This Able Veteran, we hope to see you there - It's one of the largest quilt shows in the country and people come from all over the world to view these masterpieces.

Meet Gator, our adorable service dog in training, on a Floridian adventure! 🐾☀️

Gator is taking a break from his rigorous training schedule to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf in beautiful Florida. This beach excursion isn't just a day at the shore—it's a valuable part of Gator's development as a service dog for This Able Veteran.

Despite his serious training responsibilities, Gator knows how to strike a perfect balance between work and play. His beach day isn't just about soaking up the sun; it's a vital part of his socialization and exposure training, helping him become the best service companion possible.

Your support means the world to Gator and the veterans he will soon be supporting.
