1-1 availability and Albie me Bailey general update!
It’s been a little while since I posted, so I thought I’d give an update.
Albie is now 4 months old and a cheeky confident happy little boy.
Bailey is just over 3 months since he had major emergency spinal surgery when he suddenly lost his ability to walk due to unknown IVDD.
He is now back on off lead walks starting to race around and has rejoined his wonderful walker on group walks, he’s still a bit wobbly at times and rebuilding his strength, but considering we didn’t know if he would even stand he’s doing absolutely amazing ❤️
Him and Albie are the best of buds. Obviously we always supervise but their relationship is lovely to see and Bailey chooses to be by his side.
I’m adapting to everything the last few months has thrown at me including suddenly losing our Kobie in January. I still miss him every day ❤️
And I’m looking at starting to build the buisness back up after some time away, I’m in the process of speaking to my existing 1-1 clients, but it looks likely I will have some very limited availability for new clients which is often not the case.
So if you would like my help training your Spaniel or Spaniel Cross please do drop me a message . I’d love to support you. Maybe you are even expecting a human addition and need some support with that to.
I’m aware I’ve had a fair few enquiries come in over the last few months to which will be being responded to.
Thank you ❤️

I cannot believe it has been 5 months today since we suddenly and unexpectantly lost Kobie. Bailey is now nearly 2 months since his emergency spinal surgery after not being able to walk, and Albie is now 10 weeks old. Very recently as well we sadly had to have my childhood pony put to sleep (some of you will have met her on training sessions) The last few months have just been an absolute emotional rollercoaster, and such a huge change in every way of my life. I do hugely miss my boy still ❤️ but I’m so proud of the legacy he created and all the Spaniels he enabled me to help. I’m so proud of Baileys progress and how amazing he has been with all the changes, and I’m learning and adapting to being a human mum with my little boy. I am still very much on maternity leave, I’ve had a few messages asking if I am, and I am, and also how I am. I’m adapting to this huge new chapter, and the absolute blur of everything, and I’m still processing all, but we are all doing ok, thank you all so much for checking in, and when I am back I can’t wait to help you all, until then I have some wonderful people looking after things for me ❤️🌈

Bailey update with the wonderful Leaps & Hounds veterinary physiotherapy who I couldn’t recommend enough ❤️
02/05/2024
My poor boy is currently in the great care of expert vets and neuro team after emergency spinal surgery last night.
I took him to the vets on Tuesday evening as he was showing signs of discomfort but neurologically his signs were all ok. I then took him for a short walk later that evening where I started to notice more possible neuro signs (scuffing feet when he walked. I got some video footage for the vet, emailed it over and monitored him over night frequently.
As soon as the vets opened that morning we were back in, at this point Bailey was collapsing and was losing the use of his back legs and ability to wee. I have videos of this but they are quite distressing to see so I will not post.
We were then transferred to willows, who immediately saw us, assessed him, did an mri and moved them straight to the top of the list for emergency spinal surgery. He had a ruptured disc and major spinal compression. He will be in with them for a while then will began his recovery with us at home, which will take time. Initially he will need an extended period of strict crate rest.
As he recovers we will know more about the paralysis in his back legs and if it improves early signs are positive but he has a journey ahead of him to get him walking again. For now he is stable which is all we can want.
The last few months with losing Kobie early and incredibly suddenly, Albie arriving in a difficult way and with a tricky recovery for me, and now this have been an absolute emotional rollercoaster 🥲❤️
Please keep my beautiful boy in your thoughts, come on Bailey all the birds are waiting for you to chase them again one day ❤️

Introducing the mini Spaniel guru Albie Jude ❤️
Safe to say the last few days are a complete blur, he’s a little sleep thief and loves a 3am rave.
Bailey is being wonderful with him, and they already have a lovely bond though he does appreciate him more when he is quiet!
I’m sure I’ll be sharing more of our journey together, and I have a wonderful team of people looking after things for me, including some wonderful trainers in the inner circle so you can still get expert Spaniel help if you join while I’m away ❤️
For now I’ve been focusing with Albie on a lot of what I would with a puppy, gentle exposure to the inside and outside world, getting him used to sleeping with noises/general life etc going on, and just providing lots of love and allowing him to feel safe with us ❤️
With Bailey we make sure he always can go and chill away from him, we include him on things, but equally we make sure he has some time on his own just with us, even if that’s just a 5 minute play and cuddle session for now 🐾
20/03/2024
So at over 39 weeks pregnant the time has probably come to stop chasing Spaniels around fields 😅 I’m quite impressed I’ve managed up to this point though!
I’m so grateful to my wonderful clients, pictured below is a couple of recent reviews which I’m so grateful for. I am so lucky to have so many lovely reviews. Working with me I don’t promise quick fixes, it’s an investment, we work at your dogs pace. I work alongside your vet, I value ethics, if I need to I’ll bring in other behaviourists and trainers, and I’m
very lucky to know some of the best in the industry. I absolutely don’t know everything and collaboration and working together is key.
Regardless of what you see on TV sometimes it doesn’t happen overnight with Spaniels! but put in the time, commitment and love in and you will get progress. And let’s aim for progress not perfection. That’s honestly perfectly boring!
I’m also so grateful for everyone who follows the page, and my wonderful inner circle and recall course members thank you all so much, It’s a privilege to have your trust in my teaching with your gorgeous dogs.
So now the time has come for me to take a step back. If you want to work with me 1-1 in the future, you can complete my enquiry form online, you can join my inner circle membership which has so much to help you in. Over the next few months, there are live sessions in there on heelwork, tracking, gundog key foundations with amazing trainers who also can offer any help you need, plus pre recorded stuff from me and so much more. You can also still buy the pre recorded recall course at its normal price to.
There are a few scheduled posts that will pop up so you don’t all forget me 😅 and I’ll be sure to let you know when the mini Spaniel Guru makes their arrival. I’m not sure on exactly my plan on when I’m back, for now we are just going to enjoy this next chapter in our life and not think too much beyond that. I’m sure Bailey will be a wonderful big sibling, and we will tell little one all about Kobes to who is of course still missed every day ❤️
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

This is Mabel she’s a loved member of my inner circle membership as is her lovely owner. Mabel has had intense reactivity to other dogs and life in general. We had a mini consult in the inner circle and I strongly suspected hormones were a huge factor. And she needed a break from life.
And below is a beautiful update from her wonderful understanding owner
It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Mabel and her reactivity.
There is always a reason for reactivity, be it fear, frustration, lack of socialisation, pain and discomfort I could go on. In Mabel’s case we always strongly suspected it was hormone driven.
Mabel ( some of you may know) didn’t have a full season until she was 21 months old. This was proceeded by a silent season at nine months old and the vet believes three monthly micro seasons with no bleeds.
During her season at 21 months, Mables season split this happens because the body doesn’t think the dog is mature enough to ovulate. This caused major issues for Mabel because her season went on for 32 days of bleeding and this exacerbated her anxiety and unfortunately she then had a phantom pregnancy. Usually 4 to 5 days on the drug Galastop the bitch can usually comes out of Phantom and she starts to feel better.
In Mabel‘s case she needed two, 7 day courses to help her which intern made her really depressed and miserable and she stopped eating. it’s taken some time to build her appetite back up and for her to start feeling like her own self. We had forgotten what Mabel‘s normal behaviour was like
Following the final course of Galastop, we waited 10 days and she was spayed.
We are now two weeks on from the spay and I can’t believe the difference in her, she is by no means fixed yet but her appetite has regained, she started to behave like a puppy again I’ve lost count of how many toilet rolls she shredded this week.
We’re still working on her reactivity but this week there has been a noticeable change in her behaviour when she sees a trigger, The tense, rigid, anxious lunging and Whoo Whoo barking has gone. We now have an inquisitive, Rah rah bark, with a swooshy sweeping tail and a bounce. Mabel is listening to me too and is able to take treats.
Obviously we are keeping our distance, turning her away and I’m wearing a sash which tells others to give us space. We’re only just starting to visit retail parks and staying near to the car so that she can comfortably play “find it” around the car and watch the world go by.
We are by no means fixed yet but this week I can see light at the end of the tunnel.
I never wanted to give up on her, but i just couldn’t see an end to the reactivity. Fingers crossed one day I’ll be able to take her for a coffee without being asked to leave the venue because of Mabel’s barking.
Also I’d like to share that daily dog walking is something that we Instil as humans. Mabel hadn’t been on a proper offlead/lead walk since November. We’ve decompressed her, kept her world small and she’s been wonderful. I used to take her on a daily 2 hour off lead walk thinking that it was helping her. In hindsight she hated it and it just made her behaviour worse. There is no text book that says you need to walk your dog daily.
Brain training, scent work, free work and just letting them be is enough for a reactive dog. Xx
Seasons and phantom pregnancies, and persistent phantom pregnancies (still can happen after dog is spayed) have huge impact on behaviour and it’s always something to be very aware of. I also want to give a huge shout out to Alyssa at Holistic Pet Services for then working with Kerri and Mabel on a 1-1 basis which I knew they also needed. So lucky to know so many wonderful professionals to work alongside. Team work makes the dream work ❤️

Check out what one of my previous students thought
“I cannot praise this course enough!
I’ve just completed the Ready, Steady, Recall course with Hannah and it has transformed my life!
I, like I’m sure many, have read many training books and watched endless videos on how to train your dog, but surprisingly nothing seemed to work.
My very excited and highly prey-driven dog, Enzo, would run off after anything with fur or feathers!
At first, I was sceptical about how an online course could really work but was desperate to try something and knew Hannah specialised in cocker spaniels.
Over the 5 weeks Enzo and our relationship changed substantially for the better.
I’ve started to enjoy walking him again. May I add on loose lead! Which I thought would be impossible with him.
I had many a blister and joint pain to prove it! He also is able to walk on long line (dropped on floor) mainly for a back up just in case, but close to taking long line off completely now.
He now ‘checks in with me’ frequently now (something you’ll hear frequently on the course) and successfully follows commands, to the point where I myself was asked whether I was a dog trainer from others! Highly amusing!
Other dog walkers, who know him, can’t believe the transformation.
Don’t get me wrong he’s not perfect by any means, but he’s certainly getting there. I could not be prouder of the relationship we have now and what we’ve achieved together, especially over such a short amount of time and look forward to continuing it with Hannah on The Inner Circle.
If you’re reading this and feeling (like I was) unconfident, a failure and in complete despair, then I promise you, follow Hannah’s advice and things will change dramatically over the 5 week course.
It’s worth every penny! Good luck”
Do just message me to join and let’s get you a better recall 🙂

Is walking your spaniel or spaniel mix more of a nightmare than the dream you imagined?
Maybe you've watched with envy as other dog owners calmly let their dogs run around freely whilst you keep yours firmly on the lead... wishing you could trust them not to leg it?
Or perhaps your spaniel has ignored you far too many times now, pretending they've forgotten their own name... especially when it's time to go home?
I've seen far too many owners pulling their hair out when it comes to recall... often close to tears. And this makes me so sad.
But the truth is, unless you change how you work with your spaniel, you'll continue to dread walking them. And with my Ready Steady Recall course, I can help you make that change!
In this self-paced, pre-recorded course (which is yours to keep for life), I'll share my top tips and tricks from working with hundreds of spaniels, so you can actually enjoy walking your dog again. So you can feel confident letting them off their lead and KNOW they'll come back to you (even if there are birds, squirrels, plastic bags or other spaniel favourites!) about.
For a limited time only, Ready Steady Recall is on sale for just £157, saving you a huge £240 off the regular price. To make things even easier for you, you can pay in two or three instalments.
Plus, if you're not already a member, you'll get two months of free access to my award-winning Spaniel Inner Circle Membership (worth £60).
Ready to enjoy those stress-free walks? Then send me a message and let’s get you started. This offer will finish very soon ❤️
07/03/2024
Are you dreaming of relaxed walks in the sunshine with your spaniel?
Stress-free walks where you can enjoy seeing them running around off-lead, living their best spaniel life?
All without constantly worrying about them chasing every bloody bird in sight or panicking they won't come back at all.
Just imagine how much happier and laid-back those walks would be... for you and your spaniel best friend. They could be as happy as Bailey here 😅
Well, with my spaniel-specific Ready Steady Recall programme, this is all possible for you! I'm here to teach you my secret recipe for spaniel recall success.
In this programme, I share my top tips and tricks from working with hundreds of spaniels worldwide. The bitesize content is all pre-recorded from a course I previously taught, so there's no need to worry about being free at certain times for Zoom calls, etc. You can get started straight away, and it's yours to keep for life, so you can dip in whenever you need a dose of specialist spaniel support.
For a limited time only, Ready Steady Recall is on sale for just £157, saving you a huge £240 off the regular price. There's also the option to pay in 2 or 3 instalments to make things even easier for you.
Plus, if you're not already a member, you'll get two months of free access to my award-winning Spaniel Inner Circle Membership (worth £60).
If your interested in finding out more do just send me a message and I can share it with you. 🙂

One of the things I talk about in my recall course is how to teach a recall to the whistle, as it’s a whole process. Here is Sylvie in Switzerland acing just that.
Remember you can save £300 currently on my course but that won’t be for long so do comment below or message me if you want the details to join, and let’s get you off lead walks again :)

Do you want help with your Spaniel’s recall?
Maybe they won’t touch food outside?
Or are only interested in all the birds?
Bailey my dog here was terrible with birds, an absolute nightmare. He will now mostly! stop on flushing, recall away and settle as you can see around them.
For me the key was building connection with him, and giving him Spaniel jobs to do! Working with his need and not against it.
For a limited time only my online Spaniel zero to hero recall course is on sale.
It will be back off sale soon, and if you join now you save nearly £300! Keep the course for life, work through it at your own pace and get 2 months free in my spaniel inner circle membership if your new to 🙂
Check out what one of my last students had to say after finishing the course
“ I recently completed the Zero to Hero recall course with Hannah. I think it’s fair to say that before the course I had lost of all hope of enjoying life with my spaniel!
The course was a real eye opener and I’ve learnt so much about spaniels. We’re well on our way to a much better relationship which means he listens and connects to me more.
Walks are less stressful and of course his recall is much improved!
Thank you Hannah for helping us become a team rather than bird crazy/chase anything spaniel vs stressed owner!”
If you want recall help with your Spaniel from me, this is the way to get it. Comment yes please below and I’ll send you the details 🙂

Meet Pippin ❤️
I’ve already had the pleasure of working with his big brother for a while now.
With pups initially it’s all about having fun, bonding, rewarding what you like, surviving those shark teeth! And making sure they get enough rest!
He’s doing super well on his recall, we have been working on getting him happier being alone, settling on a bed and just exploring the big wide world.
He’s also along with his brother a member of my Spaniel inner circle so he can access all the Spaniel help he needs ❤️
His owners are doing such a fab job with him ❤️

Thanks so much to the wonderful Harbury Fields Secure Dog Walking Fields for inviting us to try out their new field. I’m a huge fan of secure fields, and this one is just great. It’s so lovely to have a safe space to go with your dog, they are great for practicing recall and training and just having fun. And sometimes just for having some time by yourself or with friends and not worrying about seeing other dogs and people. I quite enjoy the quiet time sometimes ha.
Bailey loved it, Kobie would have to. video in the comments of bais.
There is a great shelter here from the rain with a seating area, tunnels and enrichment items to explore (great for practicing that recall from distraction) and working your dogs brain.
An area for cleaning those muddy paws, and on the gate you can find tennis balls and poo bags. And a safe padlocked gate for your session.
You can see sheep from the field a little so it’s great if you want to do a little careful livestock exposure work, and you can occasionally see other people and dogs walk by but there is screening.
I’ve done some sessions here with clients to and it works wonderfully.
Have you been yet? I’d love to know how much fun your dog had there 🙂
15/02/2024
I’m super proud of Bailey.
It’s now been a month since we suddenly lost Kobie.
It’s been such an odd few weeks, with little one due in a couple of weeks there has been scans and hospital visits. And it’s been a complete juxtaposition of emotions saying goodbye to one life with no warning and then getting ready to welcome another.
If you read my blog you will know that Bailey understandably struggled initially. Especially with seperation as he was so used to snuggling up with Kobie.
We now can go out in the day and leave him for a couple of hours snoozing happily, and at night time he is back sleeping happily downstairs.
The first two nights after we lost Kobie he slept downstairs ok, but then on the third night he woke up howling and crying. I think he likely was so tired and in shock the first two days it counteracted it. So then he came upstairs on our bed as he needed that safety and security. Slowly we transitioned him to his bed on our floor then bed by our door, bed on hallway, bed on hallway bedroom door shut, bed towards stairs then back downstairs.
For the last week he has slept downstairs all night by himself ❤️ for the first time recently we went back to where we scattered Kobies ashes with Bailey to.
He’s been so happy on his increased group walks with All K9 Concepts who is just the absolute best! so he gets lots of time with other dogs, and he’s such a lovely little dog to just take out and about. It’s taken a huge amount of training to do this as it does with Spaniels there are no quick fixes, and I’m so thankful for Kobie for giving me the skills and understanding to be able to do this to ❤️
07/02/2024
Edit - thanks so much everyone these now have new homes and I hope they make the Spaniels as happy as they made Kobie ❤️
I’d love to hear from anyone who may be local to me who has a Spaniel who maybe has had a bit of a difficult time, or they are a bit complex.
As you all know we lost our darling boy Kobie suddenly a few weeks back who is the reason the buisness got set up to help other misunderstood spaniels and I would love for his bed and toys etc to go to another Spaniel 🙂
We have kept them so that there is not too much change for Bailey straight away but now feels the right time for them to go to a new home.
I don’t want any money for them, just would be lovely for him to help another Spaniel have a bit of fun he loved his toys and had to greet you with the whole basket! and he also loved his comfort. The bed is a really good quality comfortable ultima one, and there is a selection of toys etc that he used to love. I’ll give all a bit of a clean to but they are obviously used.
If lots of people comment I’ll likely just choose someone at random, but please make sure you can collect from Warwickshire ❤️
Please share if you know someone who would benefit 🙂

New blog a very hard one to write.
As you all know we suddenly and Un expectantly lost Kobie a couple of weeks ago.
I’ve had so many beautiful messages, cards and people sharing their own stories of loss with me and asking me how I am coping. So I thought I’d put together some information to explain and help.
It’s a very honest raw blog, because I think it’s important to be this with you all.
If you have been in a similar situation I hope it helps you, and if you share some of the same feelings I understand.
Do let me know your thoughts, and know I am so grateful for your support x
As heartbreaking as this feels, I wanted to share my thoughts on how to cope with the loss of your Spaniel best friend and how to help another dog cope too.
29/01/2024
Bailey boy is getting lots of cuddles at the moment.
He is sleeping on our bed because since suddenly losing his best Buddy Kobie 3 weeks ago he isn’t ready to be alone at night.
He sometimes shares my toast crusts.
He comes out and about with me to the pub, to dog friendly shops, out with clients at times.
He cuddles up to me on my lap.
Sometimes he has human food as a treat.
There is a lot in the media today about positive trainers creating all these issues with dogs by treating them like humans.
Being kind to your dog, doesn’t mean you don’t give them boundaries, it doesn’t mean you don’t teach them what to do. It doesn’t mean you just ignore issues, it means you actively work with them to help them to learn other ways. It just means you’re kind to them. Bailey is my little buddy. why wouldn’t I treat him kindly?
Many of the dogs I’ve worked with who show these “spoilt” behaviours as reported have had medical issues and un diagnosed pain. And guess what once we had worked together to resolve that alongside the dogs vets the behaviours usually improved.
So tonight Bailey will be back on our bed, where he currently feels safe and comfortable, we will start to move him out due to little one arriving but there is no rush, he may have some of our left over dinner, and we will have a cuddle.
Do I see him as a human? No. Do I give him
0 boundaries and let him do whatever he wants? No. Do I say no to him at times? yes
Do I stop him doing stuff at times I don’t want him to? Yes.
Do I see him as my best little buddy and a huge part of our family that is also currently grieving and deserves love and care? Yes
So if you want your dog to sleep on your bed and share your snacks that’s fine with me, if not that’s also fine with me. My priority when working with people is always building connection, trust, relationship and understanding both sides, once you build that the rest usually follows ❤️
22/01/2024
It’s been nearly 2 weeks since we suddenly unexpectedly lost Kobie.
The amount of messages, cards and beautiful words we have been sent is honestly mind blowing, I still haven’t got round to replying to them all as it’s been a bit of a blur. But they have hugely helped thank you.
The focus has been helping Bailey adjust to the new normal without his best friend.
As I expected initially Bailey struggled to cope by himself and even if I went upstairs for 5 minutes he howled and cried.
I had to leave him to go to an urgent appointment and he howled and cried most of the time.
So with my behaviour head on I rewatched all the videos on the camera, slowed them down, saw where he was struggling, adapted made a plan and we are now mostly at 3-4 hours he can happily be left on his own with no anxiety or howling, just snoozing as per the pic ❤️
We have increased his group walks with his amazing walkers so he can have more time with other dogs which he is loving.
At night he is sleeping on our bed currently as he used to snuggle up with Kobie, but that’s ok safety and social sleeping is key for him atm and him having that is enabling us to succeed with seperation in the day.
Soon I will start moving him slowly back out our room as his new little human brother will be arriving. We are just taking one day at a time.
❤️

To think a few days ago we were here walking along.
You sniffing the fresh grass, me listening to a chilled song
We had no worries. I didn’t know about the inner battle you fought, or that your life was about to be abruptly cut short.
We paused and sat together on the bench taking in the view. Now I’m here suddenly without you.
Your eyes were bright, your fur golden in the sun. You ran around and had so much fun.
Chewing on sticks, jumping in the pond, sniffing galore. Life with you was certainly never a bore.
This peaceful place was your respite, now I’m here taking it all in when you have lost your fight.
The silence is heavy, the love is pure. I wish time could have given us more
In the spring here the bluebells bloom looking their best. And here among them is where we will now lay you to rest.
So my darling boy fly free, thank you for all you have given to me. From the dog who I was told would never live a normal way. You have proved them all wrong every day.
You have created a legacy, helped thousands of Spaniels and their owners world wide. And now I will continue your work without you by my side.
Though we now may be apart, your memories are etched forever upon my heart.
As I look out at the sunset upon the ridge. I will see you again at rainbow bridge.
Your story will continue, this isn’t the end. Rest in peace my very best friend 💔💔
Thank you Ettington Dog Walking Meadow - Really Wild Walks for the perfect final resting place for our boy ❤️

Wow, the amount of messages from all over the world and lovely comments I’ve recieved is truly incredible. Thank you all so much. I will reply I just don’t have the words currently. It’s amazing to see the impact Kobie has had and the legacy he has created all over the world. And how many dogs and owners he has helped.
If Kobie has helped you/your dog either through working directly with him/the inner circle or on social media please do leave me a comment/message and let me know how he helped you. It’s of huge comfort to me.
Bailey is doing ok, he got a toy him and Kobie played with recently last night and cuddled up to it. Though he did look so small in the bed alone 🥲 he’s out with his incredible dog Walker and friend All K9 Concepts this morning so we keep routine going for him, then we will take him out again later.
I didn’t sleep great last night woke up around 4am upset and couldn’t get back to sleep. Bailey chose to sleep downstairs in his bed last night with Kobies blanket, we left the doors open so he could come up if he wanted to. The strangest thing was at 4.01 am he suddenly appeared sat down cuddled into my hand then jumped on the bed with us. ❤️ dogs really are amazing aren’t they.
I’ve just spoken to a lovely private pet crematorium company thank you Kings Hill Cremations who were so kind, though a hard conversation to have and they can collect our gorgeous boy today. Little things like they collect and put him on a bed and blankets make all the difference, and although it sounds silly makes it a little easier. Then we can bring him home tomorrow.
They will do a clay pawprint photo, and then I’ll also get some jewellery made I can wear to remember him (not that I could possibly forget) and scatter his ashes in his favourite place Ettington Dog Walking Meadow - Really Wild Walks who have said they will plant a tree for him next to the pond he loved and refused to ever leave 😅 ❤️ thank you Charlie so much for your kindness.
“The only difficult thing about our dogs is they are never with us long enough”
Thank you so much everyone The picture with his beloved frog is how I will forever remember my complex one in a million boy who defied everyone’s expectations and taught me oh so much ###

Bailey update with the wonderful Leaps & Hounds veterinary physiotherapy who I couldn’t recommend enough ❤️
On my pre recorded Spaniel zero to hero recall course I talk about a lot of things, including the different whistle cues you can teach them. Here I am using the hunt whistle when Bailey is on strong scent, this has taken time. The course isn’t a quick fix, none of my training is, you have to put in the time and work with your dog, but it’s absolutely possible to improve your Spaniel’s recall. The offer on the course finishes today, you keep access to it for life and if your new to working with me, you also get 2 months free access to my spaniel inner circle membership which is kind of like Netflix for Spaniel owners! Just message me for any information :)
One of the big thing I talk about in my recall course is relationship. Relationship is absolutely fundamental to recall. If you want to learn more send me a message ❤️
Recall ❤️
One of the things I talk about in my recall course is how to teach a recall to the whistle, as it’s a whole process. Here is Sylvie in Switzerland acing just that.
Remember you can save £300 currently on my course but that won’t be for long so do comment below or message me if you want the details to join, and let’s get you off lead walks again :)
What motivates your Spaniel?
So many people I work with say to me my Spaniel isn’t bothered about treats or toys outside.
Now usually Spaniels do like treats, but outside arousal and frustration at times usually takes over, and they are too busy for food. Also often owners have accidently used food to try and distract or bribe them. Ie to try bring them away from the other dog, or to get them to go up to something scary, so there is often suspicion there.
However when it comes to Spaniels thinking outside the box is a must.
Barney will take food outside, but is kind of like meh, but playing with the bubble gun with dog friendly meaty bubbles = the best thing ever!
Look at that recall, so don’t just get hung up on using food. Think what else can I use to reward my Spaniel 🙂
Finishing off a very busy week with Cooper ❤️ when we first started working together he would be barking, lunging and wanting to play with every dog. Here he manages to watch calmly and CHOOSE to disengage. We also had a lovely recall from playing with another dog. It’s not all about distraction, let your Spaniel watch the world, reward good choices, let them play. Don’t try and constantly call them away. Good boy Coops ❤️
6 years! my story why I became the Spaniel Guru
Today is 6 years since I started this page
The cone of shame!
Bailey boy spent the day with the wonderful Avonvale Vet Centres on Friday, shout out to our wonderful vet Maisie there to.
He had full x rays to investigate some potential pain, not too much showed he’s actually in really good condition 🙂 but his spine is a bit of an odd shape so they are being sent off to a specialist to be looked at.
He also had a lump removed and sent off to be tested. Fingers crossed it all comes back ok. so he has stitches.
And needs to wear the cone overnight/when he isn’t supervised.
So many dogs only ever see this cone for the first time when they injure themselves, or wake up at the vets and need it putting on.
So make sure you get your dog used to it before you need it.
🐾 Pop it down on the floor with a few treats around it.
🐾 Pop it behind your back with some high value treats. Bring it out from behind your back, say good chuck your dog a treat away from the cone and repeat.
🐾 Leave it in view then get your dogs favourite toy out and play with them.
Change the association to the cone of games, it honestly will make it so much less stressful
for your dog and you 🙂
Timmy ❤️
Another long term complex behaviour boy and an honoury Spaniel 😉
When I first started working with Timmy he was incredibly reactive to all dogs. At any distance he would be lunging, growling, spinning. Walks were stressful and impossible. Videos in comments of how he was before.
We have also muzzle trained him as he can be unpredictable and he loves his muzzle ❤️
But the other day he managed so well with the stooge dog (first time he’s met this dog) that I removed the muzzle.
Then for the first time ever he did a play bow and went to continue the play ❤️❤️❤️
Timmy spent the first years of his life until he was rescued inside a house with no exposure to dogs so just does not know how to interact and read dogs.
He is also now at a regular group training class with other dogs, and is now walked around his village which was a no go before.
I just love in this video how he also makes the choice to come back and get his treat to ❤️
He also ignored every other dog we saw.
Has it been quick no? We have had to work at his pace. Push fast in behaviour and you often go slow.
Next steps is introducing more barky excited dogs to him to 🙂
This doesn’t look a lot does it?
It probably doesn’t look like a highly impressive video?
It’s just two dogs walking past each other.
When I first started working with Rupert (golden Cocker) he was incredibly reactive when seeing other dogs and people at any distance, and walking past another dog was an absolute no without lunging, barking and growling.
With any behaviour case I always tend to work closely with vets. And with Rupert his vets were great and hip dysplasia was picked up on and treated. As you would expect alongside behaviour work his reactivity then improved.
We still have a little way to go. But most of the time now he will see another dog and automatically disengage. He can also walk with other dogs (pic in comments), and is starting to be able to walk past them as seen happily here. This was the first time he had met this dog. Big shout out to my lovely friend for helping me with her gorgeous Cocker.
I just love how relaxed and happy he was, and that beautiful lead walking to. As soon as we improved his anxiety, his lead walking improved to ❤️
Cooper like most Spaniels LOVES water!
But also doesn’t like coming out of it.
Today we worked on using swimming in the water as a reward as that’s what he wanted.
We asked for a behaviour first he knew really well then rewarded him, then told him to go in the water.
Initially he didn’t want to come out so we just captured and rewarded any little behaviour he offered in the water.
Until he started choosing to come out. At which point we rewarded him and sent him back in! And repeated this.
Soon he was choosing to come out on his own.
Here you can see he then goes to jump up and mouth. And what we do here to help this.
Ideally next time we can learn from this and employ him into a calmer activity once leaving the water to stop this behaviour.
For here though we just work with it. At a quick glance this may be seen as aggressive but it’s purely just
omg I just had the best time ever and I don’t know how to handle myself! We can also likely redirect this onto a tug toy if needed with a cue.
Then with the sit I was just seeing can he do a behaviour he knows really well. Note he can as soon as we move away from the water a bit.
Always look at what happens before the behaviour, and if your dog loves swimming use it to reward them not restrict them 🙂
P.S I know the line is slightly around his back leg we sorted that very quickly 🙂
Jasper ❤️
I’m so impressed with this pup whose coming up 6 months old, and has been with me since he came home.
His family are just so wonderful and work on everything with him.
Absolute key for me with training is building an amazing connection and relationship between you and your dog.
I am asked so so much about heel work with Spaniels and honestly so much comes from that connection.
You need to make the heel position a great place to be.
When you recall your Spaniel or ask for a sit etc so often we reward them in front of us.
So start rewarding more in that heel position. Teach them it’s where they want to be.
Keep sessions short, do a bit of heel work then break it up with a bit of searching/hunting together ❤️

Welcome to Pawsitively Pawsome Pups Training and Behaviour
My name is Hannah, I’m a dog behaviour consultant covering Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth… In fact much of the wider area of Warwickshire and sometimes, much further afield. I am owned by two cheeky cocker spaniels, Kobie who is 4 and Bailey who is 2. It was these two, especially Kobie, who were instrumental in my career to becoming a dog trainer and behavioural consultant.
Kobie came to me as a poorly puppy, he wasn’t comfortable in social situations, he was constantly worried and barked at most things. He also hated being by himself. I knew I wanted to help him, I started researching online and found so much information… In fact too much information, I didn’t know where to start. So I got to know some local trainers and with my degree in Human Psychology, which has some similarities with dog behaviour, I started making progress with him.
Working with him on his issues, and helping him understand that the world is not a scary place has been a very rewarding journey, and it prompted me to set up Pawsitively Pawsome Pups Training and Behaviour. My mission is to help other people understand their dog and to make their life as ‘Pawsome’ as possible.
So I became a fully qualified dog trainer with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and Absolute Dogs. I got myself first aid qualified and fully insured, my passion for this career sees me attending various courses to stay up to date and furthering my knowledge, too many courses to list!
I also support the fantastic charity ‘Spaniel Assist Rescue and Rehoming’ as their behavioural advisor. This means I support them at their charity events providing training demonstrations and answering questions, I also provide guidance and advice for their fosterers and adopters.
At Pawsitively Pawsome Pups Training and Behaviour, I specialise in monthly support packages and provide my clients with ongoing support. This means I won’t give you a training manual and leave you to it, I’ll get to know you as the owner, as well as your dog, really well.
My training approach is unique to you. My monthly support packages are bespoke to your situation and your dog’s needs. If we need to get your dog used to travelling on a train, we can do that, if we need to go to a cafe to help your dog learn to settle, we can do that too, and we can also eat cake while we are there, if you insist! After an initial free phone call that I offer to understand your dog’s needs, I can work on a tailored plan for you.
Seeing owners cry (in a good way) at their dogs progress, is a joy and it’s a complete privilege to watch a puppy at 8 weeks old, who is just finding their feet in the world, turn into a confident and well rounded adult dog.
In the rare case that I may not be able to help you, I will refer you to someone with relevant experience, that is part of the ethical code I abide by, and I am lucky to know and be supported by experts in various fields in the local area and across the country.
At Pawsitively Pawsome Pups Training and Behaviour, I try to support the wider dog owner community via my page, where I provide you with handy dog training advice and tips. I partner with various dog-friendly organisations in Warwickshire to bring support and advice to you. I also host a number of training events throughout the year, which is a great opportunity for you to learn the fun side of dog training and make some new friends too.
If you’re looking to get started with dog training, drop me a message to book in a chat to see how I can help your best friend reach their full pawtential!
I hope you find my page useful and I look forward to working with you and your pup soon.
