Riley is a 1 year old spayed female Retriever mix who is as smart as she is energetic. This playful girl thrives in active environments where she can stay engaged both physically and mentally. She’s adventurous and adaptable, embracing everything from rain to snow, and she’ll even fetch snowballs!
Riley knows several commands, including sit, down, drop it, give, shake, high five, bow and come. She’s especially impressive with her “give” command—if she’s playing with a flirt pole or toy, a simple cue will have her releasing it right away. She’s gentle when taking food or treats and has shown no signs of resource guarding.
Though she’s crate-trained and improving, Riley is still a work in progress with house training and leash manners. She’s making strides with “leave it,” but will need continued guidance as she loves exploring and can be mischievous, even checking out countertops when she thinks no one’s looking. Crating her when unsupervised is a must, as her curiosity sometimes gets the best of her!
Riley is a dominant, rough-and-tumble player, so she’ll do best with confident dogs who match her energy—or as the star of the show in her home. Despite her high-energy playstyle, she’s a sweetheart who loves cuddles and is incredibly affectionate with her people.
When it comes to cats, Riley has shown potential with dog-savvy feline friends. She can be a bit pushy at times and will give chase if a cat runs, but she responds well to corrections and is working on managing her prey drive. Riley would be fine in a home with a confident, tolerant cat who knows how to set boundaries.
Riley rides well in the car and is an excellent adventure buddy. She’ll do best with dog-savvy kids aged 10+, and with an active family ready to match her playful spirit.
