Provide a description of your foster dog and the ideal home for them: Pickles is an amazing dog with quite a personality. She’s super friendly, playful and has lots of love to give. She needs an active home and loves to be around kids and other dogs. Preferably dogs her size or a bit bigger so she can play with them. She loves to go for walks but still needs a bit of training when it comes to seeing other dogs on leash or animals such as squirrels and rabbits. But she’s very food motivated, so having a treat around helps her focus on that and not the other animal. She is crate trained as well as house trained. She would be a great addition to an active person, couple or family who has the time to walk and play with her. She’s great at snuggles too!

THE FORGOTTEN DOG'S CHRISTMAS POEM
Twas the night before Christmas when all thru the house,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.
The children all nestled snug in their beds,
With no thought of the dog filling their head.
And mom in her kerchief and I in my cap,
Knew the dog was cold but didn’t care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus with his eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog once so lively and quick,
Last year’s Christmas present now painfully sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dog’s name,
And the dog ran to him despite all his pain.
Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen,
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen.
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall,
Let’s find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa had made one thing quite clear.
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift,
There was one important thing we missed.
A dog should be family and cared for the same,
You don’t give a gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him explain as he rode out of site,
“You weren’t given a gift; you were given a life.”

PICCO IS LOST. PLEASE HELP HIM GET HOME TO HIS FAMILY
Picco went missing on December 23rd, in the early afternoon. He was in front of his house on Impasse Des Haies, Cantley, Quebec
He was let him out for his business. He was gone when the owner went to let him back in the house.
Picco is a black, male, neutered canine who is wearing a black collar with his medal (with phone number), a teal harness.
He is 16 years old, blind, missing an eye because of ablation surgery.
Together, with neighbours, they searched the area, by foot and car.
Perhaps someone picked him up as he is not really able to walk in deep snow and nobody has seen him!

🎄 Holiday Safety Tips for Pets 🎄

As you celebrate this festive season, don’t forget to keep your furry friends safe! 🐾 Here are a few tips to ensure your pets stay happy and healthy this holiday:

🎁 Avoid Dangerous Decorations: Keep tinsel, ornaments, and lights out of reach—these can be harmful if chewed or swallowed.
🍫 Skip the Table Treats: Chocolate, grapes, raisins, and rich holiday foods can be toxic to pets. Stick to pet-safe snacks!
🌱 Watch Out for Plants: Mistletoe, poinsettias, and holly may look festive but can be toxic to pets.
🕯️ Be Careful with Candles: Curious paws and wagging tails can easily knock over lit candles.
🎆 Create a Quiet Space: Loud music, guests, and festivities can be overwhelming. Give your pets a calm, safe space to relax.

Keep your holidays merry and bright for everyone in the family—human and furry alike! 🐶🐱

Wishing you and your pets a safe and joyful holiday! ❤️

REMEMBRANCE DAY / LET US NOT FORGET
We invite you all, today, November 11th, to observe a moment of silence at 11:00 A.M. to not only mark the end of war and Armistice; but, to remember the brave sacrifices made by men, women and animals in war. Their efforts ensure our many freedoms today.
Throughout human history, WW I and WW II, and even now, animals play a crucial part in war and global conflict. During the earlier part of the last century, horses, mules, dogs, birds and other animals acted as messengers, carriers, warning systems, as companions and mascots for the brave soldiers in their company.
We remember them today and think on how their work shaped our world.
Let us not forget.

PSA- Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine".

It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution — check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your gardens.

Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to make all chocolate — especially dark or baker's chocolate — which is toxic to dogs.

Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.
