Today was Nalita's first outing with me in the car. I want to give you some tips that work for me to get them used to it:

1. Pre-familiarization: Let your puppy explore the car when it's turned off. Allow him to smell and move around inside it so he feels comfortable with the environment before turning on the engine.
2. Short trips at first: Start with short trips to avoid him feeling overwhelmed. Increase the length of the trips little by little as he gets used to it.
3. Safe seats: Use a carrier or a special safety harness for dogs. This is not only safe, but it also helps reduce anxiety by preventing him from moving around a lot. I use a little bag with an igloo inside.
4. Positive association: Bring his favorite toy or some snacks so he associates the car with pleasant things. You can reward him at the end of each trip to reinforce the positive experience.
5. Stay calm: Speak in a soft tone and make sure the atmosphere in the car is relaxed. Avoid loud noises that can scare him.
6. Control ventilation: Keep the car well ventilated, but avoid letting your puppy stick his head out the window, as he could hurt himself with external objects.
7. Avoid meals before the trip: Don't feed him just before leaving, as he may get carsick. If you know he is prone to carsickness.
8. Establish a routine: If you take your puppy in the car regularly, establishing a routine, he will feel more comfortable and relaxed over time.

With patience and consistency, your puppy will learn to enjoy car trips.
