The Volunteers of The Trumbull County Pound and Community CREATED/MAINTAINED by VOLUNTEERS. This FB page is created to help the dogs of this county...dogs IN the pound, and dogs trying to stay OUT of the pound.
(46)

THE VOLUNTEERS of the TRUMBULL CO POUND & COMMUNITY is a 'NON-PROFIT', but not a 501c3 tax exempt. ALL donations go towards the care of pound and community animals in need of immediate medical care. We also help people in the community who need emergency help to care for their pets, or for strays found in need in the community.
** WE NEE

D YOUR HELP ** - The Volunteers of the Trumbull Co Pound & Community regularly are called on to take pound dogs with medical needs to the vet. We have HUGE vet bills because of this. We operate on Donations and proceeds from Fundraisers. Any donations given directly to the Animal Medical Care Center in Niles 330-652-0400 (POUND RESCUE Acct # 21159), are greatly appreciated! Join us in helping to care for the animals in our community....in and out of the pound. Our Community is US! WE ARE THE COMMUNITY! DOG WALKERS NEEDED!!!!! Address:
The Trumbull Co Dog Kennel

Hours: Mon-Fri 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Sat 9 am to 1 pm Sun CLOSED

This is a county facility. The staff are not allowed by law to refuse any incoming stray dog. (THEY ARE, HOWEVER, ALLOWED TO REFUSE OWNER TURN INS when the pound is FULL.) Therefore space is always a huge concern, if the number of incoming exceeds available kennel runs. A stray/lost dog must be kept for 72 business hours to allow time for an owner to locate their pet. An "owner-turn-in" is not lost, and therefore does not have to be kept for any length of time, although all efforts are made to avoid euthanasia. Rescue volunteers try to get as many dogs as possible out to RESCUES, both local, around the state, and around the country, and to spark public interest in ADOPTIONS. This is a former gassing facility, which switched to euthanasia by injection (spring/summer 2011). *UPDATE: THE VERY VERY RARE EUTHANASIA IS NOW ONLY DONE AT THE VET.*

Adoption Fee: $50 (includes Microchip)
Dog License: $18
Mandatory Spay/Neuter Contract with every dog adopted/rescued. Microchipping available to public: $25

Check out the Foster to Adopt option, which allows a dog to go home with you for up to 3 weeks, to see if it is a good fit for your family and home. The pound accepts payment in cash or by personal check. It does not have capability to accept credit or debit cards.

😭 Met Meadow yesterday and she DOES NOT STOP giving kisses through her kennel. PLEASE SHARE THIS SWEET GIRL!

Meadow is losing hope. She is so lonely in her kennel and she is just BEGGING for someone to love her. Someone to get her out. Someone to spend some time with her. Someone to choose her! Her eyes are so precious and that little face. She wants nothing more than someone to love. 💗

This sweet girl is estimated at 2 yrs old and 61 lbs. She is a little low rider with a beautiful tan coat. She has wonderful leash manners. She loves every single person she meets. She did so well meeting everyone at the fundraiser especially the KIDS!! She is dog friendly ( meet and greet required).

This little lady will make a wonderful addition to any household! Get your app in now and don’t make her spend another lonely night in her kennel 🐾🥹- Tiffany

Meet Opossum 💔

This poor sweet soul is completely shut down at the pound. It is loud and chaotic and he is devastated that no one came looking for him! He really is hoping to get out of here soon.

Opossum is estimated to be about 2 years old and about 15 pounds. He appears to be a Min Pin Mix. He is terrified at the pound and doesn’t know who to trust. He is in a crate currently with no open kennels.

Opossum is really hoping someone decides to be his hero today! He doesn’t want to spend another minute at the pound. Will you be his hero?

Redd is back at it again working the front office today and he’s hoping that gets him noticed ❤️

Redd is struggling at the pound. He HATES being in his kennel. He trembles in the corner of cries at the door. When he is out with you, he jumps into your arms and won’t let go of you. He is all puppy when you meet him!

Redd is estimated to be about 2 years old and around 73lbs. He appears to be a Bully Mix. He is in good condition. Someone must of loved him once. He walks well on a leash, he listens well, and takes treats gently. He met a small little Maltese today and he liked her very much. A meet and greet is always required with your resident dog.

We are hoping Redd’s stay is short. He is not adjusting well to this life and he will only get worse in his kennel. Please someone come save this boy!

29/10/2024

🎃🐾 HALLOWEEN can be extremely stressful for even the mellowest of dogs. Between doorbells ringing non-stop and strangers showing up looking anything but 'normal' (and yelling as soon as you open the door), it's a time when many dogs dash out at full speed and are never seen again. 😳 PLEASE ... make a plan for your precious pets and avoid a potential calamity!
- Make it impossible for your dog to wiggle out; leash them (and hold the leash securely) or, better yet, put them in another room.
- Make sure your dog is wearing a collar with your current phone number and any other important contact info.
- If your dog is microchipped, verify that your information on file with the company is current and accurate.
- If you must put your dog in the backyard during the festivities, please make sure your fence is secure and your gate securely latched and locked.
- Remember, too, that CHOCOLATE and XYLITOL (a sweetener found in many candies) are TOXIC to dogs and cats, as are macadamia nuts, raisins and grapes. Make sure you do not leave candy anywhere they can get to it ... including a purse!
Have a safe, happy and uneventful Halloween

Benny 💕
This boy is already starting to feel the stress of the pound. He thought for sure his family would come for him, he was found with a collar and leash - but unfortunately no one came. 😭 So here he waits, in a full pound, for his turn for love, for a walk, for a 2nd chance.

Pictures do not do this boy justice. He is a beautiful slate brindle with the most gorgeous eyes!! He is estimated at 2 yrs old and 65 lbs. He doesn’t seem to mind his neighbors. He also knows some basic commands and walks good on a leash after his first burst of energy is out. He also knows “no” if you say it, he’ll come right back and walk beside you.

Get your app in now for this precious boy and let’s get him into a forever home! - Tiffany
