SOS! Okay everybody, we have not quite paid off our last invoice with our vet and have a new one, and another visit coming up next month. The financial stress is a definite hardship in recent years. Our current balance is $326.05, if you have ANY amount you can spare, we could really use it â¤ď¸đđťâ¤ď¸ I know times are tough out there and am so incredibly grateful when you are able to help us.
Costs: We have gone some years without bringing all the cats to the vet. I do most vaccines here at home ordered from a veterinary supply company that we have a shelter account with, but Rabies vax need to be done at the vet by law and our vet is requiring each pet be seen every year to ensure emergency services are available, not just that some pets have been seen per client. So, we are really trying to get them in and they do benefit from their yearly exams, especially as they are all getting older. Our youngest foster cats are 8 years old this year and oldest is 11 years this year. Donations are way down for many shelters/rescues in recent years and our donations went from covering everything, including insurance for public events to only covering vet bills when we put out multiple asks. This year it seems to have slowed further. We donât have any donations coming in on a regular basis and they are hit or miss when I reach out for help. I know we donât have cute kittens to post about and we havenât had an adoption in years, so our page isnât as active with stories that catch attention. However, cats are still here and we are still caring for them and will continue to do so to the very best of our ability until they leave for homes or leave the world behind. We still receive food donations from Central Valley Feed that help a great deal (Thank you, Bob! We also have a donation box there!) Since we do have the help with food, we only buy all of the food for two of our foster cats and some food when we run out of donation for the other 6. We do buy all prescriptions/supplements/special food for Cassidy(She has issues with Feline Interstitial Cystitis), Food for Dana as she is not a great eater and we need extra nutrition in the food we can get into her, laxatone for Mira for hairballs(she is our 11 year old and was throwing up a lot without the laxatone), all litter supplies(we use only Breeze litter pellets/pads these days as it really cuts down on litter box odor. We have 14 litter boxes with the foster cats and our own cats and have to make it live-able around here đ
) Not to mentioned cleaning supplies, garbage bags, etc all the stuff you donât think about, but it all adds up. I will add supplies to our Amazon list that you may use to send some items our way. As far as the vet bills, Iâm really trying to get donations to cover all of those. Really, really trying not to pay them out of my pocket. I have a large bill due for vaccines I had shipped in this month of $767.73 that I will pay for and I have 9 cats and three dogs who Iâm completely responsible for who are getting older with many on daily meds for things like diabetes, joint issues, heart meds, eye meds, oral care meds, urinary incontinence, hyperthyroidism, chronic upper respiratory issues, allergiesâŚwho all came from rescue. Without that handy crystal ball, I had no idea the changes that would happen to my life, to our community, to our country that would make rescue work more demanding on us personally. I am determined to care for these critters who I take responsibility for, I could use a hand for sure.
Thank you for reading all of this and Thank you for your support, financial, but also those of you that just show you care. I appreciate you â¤ď¸
