About AMPS
Amplified Muscoskeletal Pain Syndrome is a rare pain syndrome that affects the nervous systems. Pain is random and can feel like knives, needles, or numbness in any part of the body. It can last for a few seconds to a few years. There is no cure for AMPS, but many have found success in pain rehabilitation programs. The most similar conditions to AMPS is CRPS and POTS.

“For me, my pain has been primarily in my chest, hips, arms, and legs. When my pain was at its worst, I was in a wheelchair and had to have several nerve ablations. After I went through a program in Kansas City at Children’s Mercy, I wasn’t cured. I still deal with pain, but my service dog, Remi, helps me mitigate it. We’re one of the first teams with AMPS to have a service dog, and I’m currently working on figuring out what tasks are best for us. DPT has been game changing when it comes to episodes of pain!”
