If I didn’t already advocate for dogs to ride in crates in the car I definitely do now. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover how I feel after living my worst nightmare this morning. The dogs and I were unfortunately involved in a major pileup on the bridge this morning. I don’t know what caused the initial accident but I do know that the thick fog is what caused the cars to keep piling on.

Sadly my trusty Santa Fe is totaled but he served me well. Everyone walked away without injury. The crates 100% saved the dogs lives today and I’m forever grateful for that. The dogs were troopers and handled the long almost 4 hour wait to get off the bridge so well - the first responders were very impressed. Everyone throughly got checked once we made it home and somehow the crates themselves sustained minor damage. Especially after today I will never not crate my dogs in the car. My car can be replaced but the dogs couldn’t.

Hug your dogs close today, you never know what could happen next. 💜💜

Lots of people have been asking for more details so I’ll add them here. There was a total of 43 cars involved in the pileup. I managed to stop in time, but the truck coming behind me couldn’t. The truck was likely going close to 40mph as the impact was quite hard and it pushed my car over a car length away. The impact was so strong the sunroof cover was opened and the Sun visors were popped out. I ended up with pretty severe whiplash and the force of my body being slammed back into the seat actually broke the hinge on the seat leaving it quite reclined. I’m slowly recovering but I’m happy to say the dogs still love going for carrides and still like their crates 💜💜

This trailer was already looking great with a sweet matte green paint job, but we had to help our friends over at Ruffland Performance Kennels get their branding on there and bring it all together!

After a 13 hour drive with two dogs, a couple power naps, and a few stops for gas we finally pulled into Kalamazoo, MI at 8:30am EST. We drove straight to the Kalamazoo Fairgrounds for the 2023 Annual Harvest Cluster Dog Show. I’ve been to shows with my husband and helped at the booth but I’ve never been to anything like this. It’s like Westminster. 😳 🐕 🐩
