A couple people have recently asked if I have birds available and unfortunately I don't. Breeding has been on the back burner and I haven't had any babies in a couple years.

Dandelion sends his apologies :)

Just clipped nails on the birds in the flight cage, all by myself!

It would be a lot easier if my hands didn't shake so bad lol. The birds were good though and shorter nails are important for good foot health.

Okay, I think it is time to find the babies some new homes. I plan to keep one, but the other three are available for purchase.

They are three different colors; light brown, medium and dark brown (or Fawn, Chestnut and Chocolate) and all have white patches from the pied gene.

#1 - Male, chestnut pied
#2 - Male, fawn pied
#3 - Female, chocolate pied

Hatched March 13, 2019. Males are singing a cute little song and they all chirp a bit like crickets. They eat finch seed and enjoy greens and apple as well. Asking $20 each. Located in Kings County, Nova Scotia.

Gave the canaries a bath the other day. They loved it!

Society finches are doing well, the babies all seem to be moulting. The little one is doing great (and doesn't look so little any more).

Things are busy over here, so not many posts lately, but no news is good news :)

I'm back! Was away for most of last week, so didn't get a chance to post updates.

The babies are all out of the nest now and doing great. The smallest one is still behind but seems to be doing alright. My in-laws did a great job caring for them while we were gone.

Four babies in front, Dad and Mom in the back.

Progress update. Babies are doing well, starting to explore outside the nest a bit!

Progress photos from yesterday and today. Getting lots of pretty feathers!

The nest is getting pretty poopy, but I don't want to risk disrupting these first-time parents. Often I would replace the nests once they get really dirty.

Had our first fledgeling tonight! Came home and heard an odd noise from the finch cage. This little one was in the bottom of the cage.

Since it is the first one, and would be all alone at night, I decided to put it back in the nest for now. Tomorrow I will be re-arranging the paper liner and putting a perch down on an angle so they can get up easier.

Yesterday and today. Those feathers are coming in fast. The pin-feathers were just starting about 6 days ago.

The babies are opening their eyes!

Also starting to see some feather colors coming in. One is quite dark like their Mom, another looks lighter like the father and has some white feathers coming in too.

Had a crazy day yesterday, too busy to take photos of the babies. Today they seem to be doing fine. Pretty sure I saw an eye open along with all those lovely pinfeathers.
