Strong winds can make walks a bit of an adventure, but let’s keep it safe for you and your pup:

🐕 Stick to shorter walks – Blustery weather can be exhausting for dogs (and you!). A quick spin around the block is better than a wind-battered trek.

🌳 Avoid trees – Falling branches and debris are no joke. Steer clear of wooded areas or parks with lots of trees.

🦮 Secure that lead – Sudden gusts can spook even the calmest dog. Make sure leads, harnesses, and collars are snug and secure.

🏡 Home play counts too – Too windy? Skip the walk altogether. Games (tug / hide-and-seek) and training exercises indoors will keep your dog happy and safe.

💨 Mind the flying stuff – Watch out for bins, signs, or anything that might blow over and cause a fright.

Joey
My heart breaks writing this post. Unfortunately Joey's health deteriorated and yesterday he closed his eyes forever.
He was the first dog I met when I moved to upholland and the first dog to walk through my doors when I opened for boarding.
I was so happy that I got to share his last walk and he came to mine for one last little visit.
My deepest condolences go to his owner Sarah who gave him the very best life and incredible adventures.
He will be truly missed. Goodnight big foot. 💜

Posting this with the owner's permission to raise some awareness of Vestibular disease.

When I saw Joey at the vets Monday I really thought I had given him a goodbye after seeing him unable to walk, leaning to the side with rapid movements of his eyes. Honestly broke my heart all day waiting on news.

VESTIBULAR DISEASE ever heard of it? I hadn't.

3 types but Joey most likely has idiopathic. Drunken walk, leaning to one side, wide stance, eye movement, didn’t eat or drink probably due to motion sickness. Improved after motion sickness injection given on Monday.

I am delighted to tell you that Joey continues to make incredible progress in such a short space of time and to note he walks with a little wobble anyway due to an old Injury.

Well this also sums up how I feel after a lazy picking and eating Christmas. Ready to return to work, get my steps in with the pooches and help people to get their training back on track.

I have so much respect for anyone that takes in rescue dogs. You will never truly know or fully understand what life a dog has lived before it came to you and alot of them take a long time to settle into the unknown. It takes patience, consistent training and a strong will of not giving up. It's hard work but giving them another chance to live a life they deserve is commendable. It's a pleasure working with Lando and his owners and they are so committed to making that difference. ❤️

Little Poppy who stayed with us in the summer has gained her wings. She brought so much joy and our hearts go out to her family. Rest in peace little one. Xx
