Its been awhile since I've posted a reflection. There's been times I've started to type, but then stopped and just deleted it💔

I still cry every day, or catch myself starting too. I drive myself busy so my mind doesn't go idle and the negative swarm in. We continue to be showered with blessings, immense support and so much love. Definitely the strongest thing holding this Mama together🌹

I think of Axal every single day, evey second, over every hill and around every corner. But as I drive over 300 km a day for work, driving through areas where I know this pup went missing or that pup went missing. It's no longer about Axal and truthfully hasn't been for awhile. Theres alot of emptiness and pain out there right now. Alot of families sleeping like crap, not taking care of themselves. Cause they're running rapid trying to find their pups🫂

We have 70+ step kids out there somewhere. Axal has been gone almost 6 months. But you know what, there are others who have been gone even longer. Vanished without a trace😥

My heart constantly thinks of these families. Any selfish emotion is quickly swept away, as the secrets of this evil surround me. Trying to comprehend why and how. How can you watch so many families hurt?? How can you see how hard they're looking, and not have a guilt emotion to want to do the right thing? How do you sleep knowing young kids are crying to their parents asking where their pup is? How do carry yourself knowing you ripped such innocence away⁉️

I'd like to end this post and take this time to thank every rescue, shelter and individual who is here for the right reasons, looking out for all these pups. No personal gain, no personal benefit. Just true incognito heros🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Thank you for the constant advice, support and the strength. These families feel it, myself included. As much as I hope pups stop disappearing all together, I sure hope the strength of this community only grows for every family that enters this h*ll❤️‍🩹

From the bottom of my heart, as a Mom looking for her kid. I can only pray he ends up in kind hands and with a heart as big as this community. I pray for safety for all these pups🙏

PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING AND LET THEM COME HOME🙏🐾🧡

MEDIA RELEASE - Pet Theft Awareness Day 2024:

February 14th is Pet Theft Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raise awareness of the prevalence of the abduction of pets. For more than 20 years, Last Chance for Animals, a nonprofit organization devoted to animal rehabilitation, has spearheaded a campaign against pet theft; the Alberta Abducted Dogs Welfare Association (AADWA) has followed their lead to promote this day as a way to raise awareness regarding the abduction of dogs taking place across the province.

All across Alberta we are seeing an increase in dog abductions. Since many pets are stolen for breeding purposes, spaying and neutering practices make them less desirable to thieves. Erin Deems, the Executive Director of Saving Grace Animal Society states that, “altering pets reduces unwanted litters and limits the number of pets entering shelters or rescue centres. When puppy mills and backyard breeders flood the market, they reduce homes available for animals from reputable establishments, shelters and rescue groups.” Often, dogs raised by backyard breeders or in puppy mills do not receive adequate veterinary care and are often forced to live in deplorable living conditions.

Deems continues by saying that, “we need to create a regulatory framework to discourage backyard breeding and puppy mills.” Ontario has adopted a puppy mill regulation one that the AADWA would like to see implemented in Alberta. The Ontario government’s Preventing Unethical Puppy Sales Act (PUPS Act) was introduced on December 4, 2023, and amends the provincial Animal Welfare Services Act to prohibit harmful dog breeding practices. “By looking at other jurisdictions we already have a roadmap on ways we can improve animal welfare in our province.”

Today is a day to reflect on steps that we can take to keep our pets safe. It is also a day to raise awareness about the importance of regulatory reform to improve the welfare of our animals across the province.
