Murphy is my first IMMERSIVE BOOTCAMPER (advanced board & train program, prerequisite is FOUNDATION BOOTCAMP). As you can see, here we are at Petsmart, where we take all the basics we learned in FOUNDATION and challenge them in high traffic, high distraction areas. Murphy is a bit of an anxious dog, so I recommended this program to their owners to help him become desensitized and get more confident with new things/environments/events. This will help him become a more confident and balanced pup. Story time: Achilles(white dog) used to hate toddlers. He would growl out of uncertainty because toddlers have unpredictable behaviors with their hitting, tugging, scratching, pulling, yanking, screaming, etc. This is him now. This only happened because I was a leader to him. I showed him he could trust me that I would not let kids go beyond what he could handle and that I would protect him so he did not have to defend himself. I am teaching my son to be gentle and not abusive towards animals. This one's a classic! You hear me say it all the time but still serves as a good reminder. Engage the dog's nose first. I always practice no touch, no talk, no eye contact when meeting a new dog.
