Sophie is home! We were contacted last night by Sophie's former foster mom/rescuer who was devastated to hear she had taken off from her adopter's family member's backyard with her leash still attached.

Sophie is only five months old, shy, and unsure of cars/traffic. This was concerning because the area she was lost wasn't far from I-90 in Cle Elum, and the wooded area she was found was quite dense. We arrived around 1:15 pm and searched for about two hours when we spotted her on thermal. She was asleep when we found her, which was alarming at first because she was so still. But as soon as her sweet little eyes looked up, we all breathed a collective sigh of relief. Her family quickly moved into the area and caught her, and it was a very happy ending!

This case highlights the importance of acting quickly -- the sooner we are called out, the better odds we have of reuniting you and your pet.

What an adventure little Sprout had! At only 4lbs, this tiny guy was able to slip out of his foster parent's yard through a small hole in the fence. Shortly after, we were contacted by Saving Great Animals - Dog Rescue and headed out that afternoon. We had flown the area for 2.5 hours when we saw something on thermal that looked a whole lot like a little dog on an unauthorized field trip. Seeing his leash dragging behind him was confirmation that it was indeed Sprout. We continued tracking him while he ran into a densely wooded area, and then had to land for a battery swap.

Once we were back in the air and hovering near his last known location, he was nowhere to be found. In less than five minutes, he had managed to elude the drone and the search team on the ground. Luckily, he was found the next day by his foster mom, stuck under a neighbor's porch with his leash wrapped around a cinder block.

A few factors made this a tough search: his miniature size, how skittish he is, and how densely wooded the search area was. He is a very lucky boy to be back in his loving foster home with his people! 🌱🐾🐕

File this under things that are cute but not the lost pet: a juvenile raccoon we spotted on a recent search 🦝 Other critters spotted by thermal that day included a rooster, bunnies, birds, squirrels, and a sunbathing cat.

When your pet goes missing, time is of the essence! Please don't hesitate to contact us ASAP. The search area becomes much larger the longer you wait.

Thanks for all the follows and likes! We're excited to have you following along on this journey. Here's a general outline of what the search process *usually* looks like:

1. Lost pet parent contacts us through Facebook Messenger or via our website

2. Lost pet parent fills out our intake form, which is crucial to the process. We need to know the exact area the pet went missing, because some areas may be in restricted airspace. Depending on the class of airspace, we may need to fly at a lower altitude and/or get LAANC airspace authorization. In some rare cases we may not be able to fly the area at all, if it's extremely close to an airport/Class B airspace, a military base, or other restricted airspace.

3. Once we receive the form submission, we contact you as soon as possible to coordinate the search.

4. We come out to the location with our vehicle, drone, lots of batteries, and a generator. We work with the lost pet parent to come up with the best strategy for searching the area. Each case is unique, so this will vary from pet to pet.

5. When a heat signature is seen, we switch over to the zoom camera to confirm if it's the lost pet or wildlife.

6. Once we confirm it's your lost pet, we drop a pin using the drone's laser rangefinder. This generates a QR code for you to scan with your phone's camera. This QR code contains the exact GPS coordinates of your pet and will lead you straight to them.

7. We keep monitoring the pet until the lost pet parent reaches them and has them contained or on a leash.

Seek and Rescue is ready for takeoff! Our goal is to reunite lost pets with their people by using cutting-edge thermal drone technology. By flying as high as 400 feet, we can quickly search for heat signatures from above. Rain or shine, we want to help get your pet back home where they belong.

Because this technology can provide invaluable information, we also plan to partner with other local animal welfare organizations to assist with animal cruelty investigations.

Welcome to our page! We are so excited to be bringing thermal drone search capability to Washington state. While our main focus will be reuniting lost pets with their families, the other part of our mission is to assist other organizations with animal cruelty investigations. A thermal drone can search a very large area in a fraction of the time a person on the ground can. If your pet is lost, send us a message!
