The problem is not in unavailable puppies being born nor in the shelters and pounds being over crowded. The problem is in owners not taking the time to train their dogs, but because of unwanted behaviors owners abandoned or drop off their dogs in shelters..
Please consider, hire a trainer as soon as possible so the number of abandoned, and surrendered dogs become less of a problem for others.

Poodles are loyal, trainable, amazing breed. Because the are so smart and sometimes get bored easily they need a lot of stimulation and exercise! Please don’t put e collars, choke collars or electric collars on them!
I rehabilitate many who have wore such devices.
Put your poodles into obedience training. Many can even go into service dog training.

As an obedience and service dog trainer it brakes my heart to see so many standard poodles being given up for rehoming or adoption to shelters or poodle rescues. I realized there are situations that call for rehoming , but I ask many of you to rethink this. Poodles are my first love. They are so smart and loyal. Most if not all need some basic training, for their owners too, to understand the breed. As I read through so many listings, I see such potential. If only I had the opportunity and space to take them all in. Most negative behaviors can be corrected w some basic training. poodles need affection and stimulation to keep them from becoming bored. Please seek the help from trainers before considering rehoming. Sometimes they just need more time to bond and except you before they reach their full potential. Be patient with them. research the breed before buying a poodle. They all deserve loving, long life, homes!
And hugs to you all who give your poodles good long loving homes from the start!

This woman is strong and a real fighter. One of the most positive people I know. She is dealing with cancer once again. She has been a supporter for me through my journey starting the Baskettofpaws! I couldn’t have done what I do training service dogs with out her and others who support and trust in me. Today she flys with Katy who passed her training and can be a true help for Eliza in her travels this week!
