Don't Punish the Growl.

Don't disable your dog's warning system.

By successfully punishing the growl, you are removing an important warning sign that something isn’t right and needs to be addressed. Something is making your dog uncomfortable or fearful.

A growl generally is not the first tool a dog uses to communicate with us.

If you're not "in tune" with your dog, it's easy to miss many of the earlier warnings communicated through your dog's body language. These signals can be very subtle. However, when you understand your dog's body language, you can pick up on even his slightest cues.

Successfully punishing the growl might be the difference in your dog going from a subtle sign of discomfort to a bite.

Always dig deeper: Address what's causing your dog's discomfort or fear.

The people have spoken!

The last "pit bull" ban in the state of Colorado has been repealed by the citizens of Aurora, Colorado.

Thank you, citizens of Aurora, for understanding that dogs are individuals, and laws based on stereotypes DO NOT enhance community safety.

Way to go, Aurora!
