I’m usually not a fan of year end wrap ups. No matter what we miss things, we have something happen right after we finish typing it all out that really belonged in that wrap up … we say too much or too little, focus our path than change it because of new information or because we’ll, it’s now Monday and Thursdays energy isn’t hitting right. Perspective is really evolutionary that way.
I know that’s not popular maybe but man oh man, it’s true.
In true me fashion, I’m going to run a highlight and sneak peaks instead of a wrap up and recap.
2023 has brought us some huge losses along side some tremendous wins. This is the proper ebb and flow I think for the universe.
Roger joined his sisters in finishing an AKC CH and also added a few really nice performances titles on his name.
Vogue and Versace continued to show up and show out and add nice competitive wins to their record all year and proved without a doubt that they are worthy of being the future.
Chyna came on board and melted into the pack earning herself not only a place in our hearts but a home in our program and strengthened a bond with an amazing breeder and friend in the process. No one who helped make her could be anything but amazing. Angela has become family here at Rumorhazit and always will be.
Smooch came in with less fanfare than she deserved but really showed up, tackling AKC like she was born to it and bringing along some baggage named Lyric to keep us all entertained while we stressed a busy competition and show season. She quickly picked up her majors and much of her points, made friends and over and above proved herself worthy.
She also brought a closer bond with another amazing dog woman that has grown into a lifelong friendship and amazing shared passion for the sport.
We made some hard choices and placed nice dogs this year because we believe firmly in “not every dog needs bred” and also sometimes in streamlining a program that’s what happens, dogs don’t fit the ultimate goal. Even if they are good deserving dogs. Sometimes it comes down to something as simple as the dogs happiness over our desires.
We welcomed 2 insanely amazing litters who are already out making waves and holding titles in a few short months of their lives. I can’t wait to see them shine in the coming years.
We have made and strengthened connections that build not only ourselves up but build others up as well. As most of you know, one of the core beliefs we firmly keep in practice is “no one should come up alone” and we have kept that core value front and center this year. Partnerships with people and placing animals where they are most needed is what keeps the fires lit and the quest flowing.
To that end I do want to take this moment to talk about things that are coming attractions.
Vogue will be having her very first litter! While it somewhat seems like this year should hold the honor of calling the win for a coming amazing litter, the fact that they happened to be conceived in the era that is 2023 doesn’t mean they will achieve in 2023. For 2024, they bring together planning and work that spans generations of dogs and blood sweat and tears of the last decade along with solidly brings together a program merger over a year in the making….. ooop… what just slipped here? A kernel of foreshadowing??
That’s right, in 2024 RumorHazIt will be bringing another kennel into the fold! We have built a wonderful symbiotic relationship with many kennels over the years but not many have hit the “same goals same mindset” like MyTyme. With this shift, MyTyme will get to come on board and give us a eastern base in the US to work with and support and bring on another stellar groomer/Owner/handler and knowledge base with years of experience and perspective, open up more blood lines and offer up more support for familiar in our network! The best part is Kim. She comes with this package. For Rumorhazit this means not only do we get that person and their unique efforts, perspectives and knowledge but we get yet another amazing space to co whelp litters that will already be in the lower 48.
This means in 2024 we will be able to have not just a Versace litter with Nicole in TN, but a co bred litter from Darby with Kim as well as a stellar co Bred Auddie litter with Kim later in the season and the possibility for the use of some southern and east coast studs live cover that have just been really hard to make reality for us here in Alaska without some serious travel stress for bi***es. It also brings with it studs like Flynn, Riot and Tully who will help keep this program moving truly forward. I can’t say enough about the huge potential this merge is placing at our fingertips.
What this also means is breathing room for myself and more backup with getting my own plans covered and having another wing girl join the crew to let me really push goals to realities.
As most of you know Alaska doesn’t have UKC which means a ton of extensive travel for me with dogs if we want to utilize the sport at all. With Nicole and Amanda in the lower 48 we have some kids showing in the PNW and South. Kim brings in a Midwest/Eastern available show space for us as well.
And don’t think for a second we are letting Kim off the hook easy. She is now stuck in poodles, her foot remaining in the frying pan so to speak instead of getting to escape off to worry free bassets like she keeps trying to.
While I could go on and on about this for days, it’s a highlight and sneak peak, not a novel. Let’s move on!
As you have noticed above we have a breeding mere days away with Darby who will Whelp in the lower 48 who will bring amazing Multicolor with sound minds and solid temperaments.
Also in 2024 will be Versace having a litter which will whelp in the lower 48. We have a few studs lined up we are sifting through still for her and she will be likely a later in the year breeding pending schedules and heats clearly.
Auddie will be bred in late summer most likely given her heat schedule to Riot and most likely whelp in the lower 48 for her comfort. This will bring amazing compact small (18-22 inch) standards bridging service potential and keeping the ability to still work sports and be mindful of the “if I fits I sits” size constraints that are becoming more and more of a challenge for people. Not every service dog needs to be 26 inches and 60lbs or more. Not all disabilities are the same and we see that.
Tonga will have a litter planned towards the end of 2024 if we can lock in some details for her breeding with her potential stud owner. If not she will push to 2025.
Beastie will be bred to Adair for some lovely large service dog potential while also bringing proper structure and bone that will make mouths water and jaws drop. We expect this litter to be multipurpose and able to go from the ring to the field and keep up on their service work while they are at it.
Roger has 2-3 potential breedings on the 2024 horizon we are so super stoked for. Seeing him bring his potential to the next generation will really be amazing.
Finally, Smooch Pending Testing finishing up, Has a Date with Bean! We expect striking blacks and Stellar whites from this breeding who will have heart and soul, a little bit of cheekiness and a whole lot of stunning movement. While we don’t have service work on our radar as a goal from this match up, the litter will be evaluated for the potential like all our litters are.
The potential in the 2024/2025 era for RumorHazIt really is limited only by how hard we push ourselves!
That being said, these sneak peeks are just that. Peeks into plans and as we all know, in dogs, the best laid plans are often tromped all over by heats and time tables and stud changes and the just plain old “that didn’t go as planned” life loves to throw at us.
As such we always have 2-3 other irons in our fire and adapt and change as time goes by.
There are a few litter plans I haven’t brought up here because we don’t have things really nailed down, or we are waiting on testing. The other factor to mention is the shift we are making in most of our litter plans. If we don’t have enough actual deposits on the table we will sack the breeding out of prudence and push it back or change gears. While I do breed for my own goals and no one else’s, I can’t continue to see the trend in buyers pulling out on breeders last second because they aren’t getting instant satisfaction or because it’s easy to say you want to be on a list and then whoops something changed or because you spoke to 5 breeders and this other breeder has a puppy you can pick now.. you get the idea.
I’m no longer a 20 something year old woman who has kids in the sport and a willingness to stay in my training and grooming 24/7 because I have so much time to give and it’s all fine.
I want to ensure as best I can that people who are obtaining from Rumorhazit are actually committed atleast half as much as we are to the puppy we will ultimately spend a lifetime considering and concerned for.
I will be spending a lot more time educating and traveling in 2024/2025 and this has to be reflected in the way that things are run. It’s what makes Nicole and Amanda and Kim so very important. I couldn’t appreciate them or any of my guardian homes and co owners any more than I do.
If you made it this far, gold star. This was a lot.
Know we are so extremely excited for the future and for the bottom of our fluffy little hearts, thank you for being a part of our past, present or future journey.
