TrackWest Dog Club (inc) TrackWest is the ANKC recognised tracking club in Western Australia Tracking is a challenging and rewarding dog sport which utilises your dog's natural ability.

Dogs learn to use their amazing sense of smell, to follow a trail to find articles and the best reward of all, to find a tracklayer at the end. Handlers learn to read their dog’s body language, this enables them to trust their dog’s nose and follow them into the unknown. We train in the beautiful forest at Gnangara Pine Plantation on Saturday mornings during the winter months (please refer to the

attached map). This is a wonderful backdrop for our tracking activities, allowing us to escape from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy the good company of our fellow trackers are of course build on the special bond we have with our four legged friends. All dogs are welcome! Tracking is a great sport to build your dog's confidence and the bond between you and your dog. Whether you are looking for an exciting new activity to share with your dog, or to take on the challenge of Tracking Trials, everyone is welcome at TrackWest. TrackWest trains Tracking and once members achieve their Tracking Champion title the Club offers Track and Search Trials. We hope you will all enjoy visiting us, to keep informed of upcoming events, get valuable training tips and to be entertained! Well, the Tracking season is not far away for 2025. Almost time to dust off your flags, harnesses and boots!

▶️Trackwest will be holding their Beginner’s Course on 22 & 29 March and 5 & 12 April. All spots are already full.

▶️While the official resumption of training for returning members is 26th April, those that wish to, can attend on Easter Saturday (19th April) for a quick refresh with their dogs.

▶️An email was sent to all existing members on 17th December with a link to renew their membership for 2025. Unfortunately not all members received it so, if you didn’t, please check your junk mail box. If there is nothing there, please email Natasha at [email protected] and she will resend you the link.

▶️For those that have yet to renew their membership, could you please do so as soon as possible to enable us to work out training group numbers and the appropriate number of Trainers.

Congratulations to all of our competitors in the Trackwest Track & Search Trial held on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September.

There was a 100% pass rate for the urban tracks showing great teamwork between handlers and dogs.

With approval from DogsWest pending, the following attained titles:

Natasha with Laddie and Sam with Baci both attained their Track & Search Grand Champion titles, Danielle and Puck their T&S Champion title and Natalie with Darcy and Sarah with Zephyr their TSDX titles.

On Sunday Irene & Scout as well as Pam & Dixie attained their TSD titles.

Thank you to the Judges, Stewards and tracklayers for assisting on the days.

One more Urban to go before we pack up for the season so wishing those that enter on 19th October, good luck and hopefully a few more titles.

The committee have invested in some signs to help educate other users of the pines about Trackwest and trials. Hopefully this awareness raising endeavour will reduce interference with trial tracks.

The signs will be installed along Pessoa Rd leading into scheduled trials and on the day of trials.

To ensure your qualifying cards are up to date with your dog’s titles, a few days after you have lodged your title applications please log into Top Dog Events and: Select “My Dogs” then select the relevant dog’s name, scroll down and select “Update from Dogs Australia Database” then select Save Changes. The new titles will appear on your dog’s record but only after Dogs Australia have processed it. If it doesn’t update please give it a couple of days and try again. Future qualifying cards will then show your correct dog’s titles.

Returning members: an email was sent recently with the link to renew for 2024. Some members have reported not receiving the email. Please check your junk folder and if you didn't get the email please send an email to Tash at [email protected] so she can investigate why. Thanks!
