Working with dogs, especially fearful rescue dogs, can really give you a cynical view of humans. You question how anyone could abuse a living creature. You can easily get angry.
The first photo is from the first day that I met Mosley, when he first arrived at Rural Animal Rescue Effort - RARE. He was rescued from a puppy mill in Alabama. His fear of humans was severe. At this moment he was afraid of literally everything and confused. Shortly after, we took him in. The first few months were a struggle for him and for us.
Fast forward 5 years and he has come so far! He still requires patience and is easily spooked, but yet approaches strangers with curiosity. He loves a good belly rub and has joined his brothers in many adventures. Just yesterday, Marshall was his rock, helping him to relax at a routine vet appointment at Lewisburg Animal Hospital.
There really are great people out there and we can't forget that. So many help to rescue dogs like Mose and help them to live their success stories. It takes patience and often a lot more time than most could assume. I'm here to tell you it's worth it for you and the dog. Stick it out and help these fearful creatures live a better life!

It's so awesome to see Mosley continuing to rehabilitate and become more of a dog! We've been seeing more of this type of excitement lately. He's coming around!
When we took Mosley in from Rural Animal Rescue Effort - RARE, a few years ago, he was one of most fearful dogs we'd ever seen. He especially feared humans. It seemed like he'd never come around, but he improves more every day. He'll even come out and approach strangers that come to the house. He's becoming a dog! 😁
