Her 'brother' W***y is also an Armani puppy, and W***y's enthusiasm and skill at field trials is one of the reasons I asked Jenn Hartman about breeding Fancy's mother, Cider, to Armani.
My dogs are all crate trained, for safety. They travel in crates in the car, and at a lot of dog events, but are also used to a crate in case there were ever an emergency or medical issue and they needed to remain crated for a while. For the most part, at home they're really only crated when eating.
Well. Cider decided to redecorate her crate mat the other day. Here she is, telling me how proud she is of her interior design choices.
Two of mine, Cider and Evie, are notorious bed de-stuffers and have ruined it for the whole gang. No cute fluffy dog beds survive these 2! Usually she leaves a crate mat alone but not anymore.
Ginny was WB again for another point, and Olympia was OHBOV & NOHS Hound Group 3!
Keiki got her first Junior Earthdog Q in Western Pennsylvania!!
None of the other Lorica dogs wanted to play by the human rules to earn a Q, though all wanted the rats for sure 🤣🐀

Thank you Dachshund Club of America, Inc. for the beautiful plaque. I remain incredibly proud of this silly, happy girl. She has outproduced herself with every single puppy. She is spayed and happy being a retired house pet. Cinder is easy to live with (minus wanting to eat the cat), loves the kids, and always has the dog version of a smile on her face.
I'll list out all her kids full names on my kennel page, but without Cinder we wouldn't have some really wonderful dogs: Cider, Teddy, Yeats, Marty, Opus, Olympia, Archie, Arwen and Caster. She's produced two separate Field Trial Absolute winners and one Best In Specialty Show winner, and two that have multiple regular Hound Group placements (both are also NOHS Group winners).

Now all 3 puppies from my Ithaca Litter are Dual Champions! I remember when they were tiny little potatoes in the whelping box and the litter cobreeder, John Merriman, and I were looking at them and going - one day, I bet you'll all be DCs. We planned this litter with a lot of thought, a linebreeding on top producer GCH Tarlyn's Line Leader MW. Hoffmann is a son of DC Siddachs Carmen who was a top field dog in her day (as well as a multi NOHS BIS winner, and BISS). So much potential in their little furry bodies. And here we are!!! It's just amazing when a breeding works out in real life the way you envision it in your head.

My goal with breeding Hoffmann to Cinder was to produce beautiful dogs who could excel in the show ring and field, and wow - Archie and his littermates are doing just that. (Cinder, by the way, is Kismet's littermate. So it's all in the family!)

This is my daughter with my friend Dr. Anne Rosenberg (Ev-Ry Dachshund)'s dog, Violet - we have some pretty amazing temperaments in our wires (Anne's and mine) for this dog to come in here and just fit right in with my pack and kids. Violet has met my kids intermittently since she was a puppy and always is happy to see them.

Last weekend was the Albany Capital District Dachshund Club field trials in Carrolltown, PA. This is one of my clubs and we had a great time! It rained most of Saturday, and Sunday got very warm. We had some successful Lorica dogs each day-

She is our Meme daughter who lives with my friend (who also owns Meme's brother, Elliot) ... she came to visit for a while and I threw her out into the field with zero training- and she put her nose down like her genetics are telling her to! Not enough to make a call back in the larger stakes the first day, and beat by more experienced/confident dogs the second day. But she shows promise!

More crazy Cinder and Caster Muted the video for your sanity
Cinder has definitely gone stir crazy from being confined for so long after her spay. She feels back to normal and is resuming normal activities which includes playing chase.
Meme had her agility debut today and earned a Q and a blue ribbon in novice standard preferred! This outdoor trial is hosted by my club, the Susque-Nango Kennel Club and I understand it's one of the few outdoor trials left here in the northeast at least. I'm always a little hesitant to do any competitions outdoors with my dogs as they also field trial and the grass brings extra challenges, so I'm proud Meme got over sniffing the deer poop and quickly moved on. Meme is DC Lorica's Going Viral RN CGC TKN Finished her CH last weekend, back to work this weekend! Evie, Harry and Teddy also has good moments but no Qs. Tomorrow Evie, Meme, Teddy, Cinder, Robin and Sol all run to represent Team Lorica.

Robin got another master JWW leg today, and he got his first Scent Work Novice Container leg yesterday. Busy, versatile dog!!
Evie JWW run from Friday (the only day we made it into the trial). I'm sharing this even though we NQ'd. I fully blame myself- I shouldn't have tried to slow her down before the weaves because I threw off her momentum. This was our last trial before the (human) baby arrives so it'll be a while before we get out to another trial - I still love that she had fun and left the ring with her tail wagging - she has no idea if she earns a ribbon or not, she just loves this sport!

Jates's temperament test - to give you all an idea of what it looks like! Everything was novel. They have never met Rebecca before, or been in this building, or seen any of the equipment used. Each puppy is tested individally.
Jates - Puppy Culture "box game" He gets it! This is shaping behavior, and in my opinion helps make the puppies love learning from a young age. You have to full screen the video to see the "box" (metal lid) I use for them to touch. Please ignore that I train my dogs in PJ's after the human baby has gone to sleep.

Powering up the clicker- this is Jates. This is just early training that a click = food. All my puppies have foundational clicker training. I do personally phase out the clicker for a verbal "yes!" with my keeper puppies. But the clicker is a FABULOUS training tool and I send one home with each puppy. #PuppyCulture really helps shape their little brains to enjoy learning.

The "whole dog" is important to us - we strive to breed healthy, conformationally correct Dachshunds with keen hunting noses, intelligence and trainability (YES, Dachshunds are trainable!) We participate in conformation (dog shows), field trials, earthdog, barn hunt, lure coursing, and obedience/rally obedience in both the AKC and UKC venues. We live with our dogs on 83 beautiful acres in Broome County, part of New York's scenic Southern Tier.
