I miss her skinny butt. Not a day goes by I don't think of her.
You can see how skinny and hunched she was getting. That's what happens with Kidney failure in cats. Just beware! The body and bathroom habits are dead give aways. A simple urinary analysis lab work-up can determine kreatinine and Urea levels.
I have to update this for Roxy. This is her momma. She is down to 4.9lbs and I have to make the ultimate decision for both her and myself.
The last 3 years has been tough figuring out what was going on with her. She's had dietary changes, jabs and scans, lab work of all kinds and her kidneys were failing.
So this past 6 months we've been giving subcutaneous fluids twice per week 100ml per visit since her body can't handle more. Its not closing up and the fluids spill out.
I've given her all kinds of medications through tight vet care. Any changes, and my vet and I have been on top of things.
Her problems were going on when I've been having my own problems. It's been stressful for both of us. I won't lie..I've been a selfish mom doing what I can for her and giving her a complete quality life, but she's hiding more, facing away from me sometimes over by her food dish.
I mean she still comes around and wakes me up 30 minutes before my alarm wakes me up in the morning (pissing me off), but as she steps up on me and looks down at my face meowing telling me something, I get up to see what it is.
I will miss her rubbing on my legs, laying on my hands, arms, in my waist dip when I lay on my side, her meowing for me when I come in through the garage downstairs, those upward looks of love and contentment when she lays on my lap. She looks to make sure I'm there.
I wasn't there when she was a kitten, and I'm grateful for the almost 4 years of having adopted her from Homeward Pet Adoption center up in Woodinville Wa.
Her previous owner had her since kitten down in Phoenix AZ for her 1st 6 years. She moved up to Washington State where her owner kept her for 4 more but had to give her up for her own health issues. I received a letter from the previous owner to get some details about Roxys history. Born May 8 2008 which makes her almost 14.
She was meant to be mine.
I don't think anyone else would have given as much for her care as I have.
