Sweet senior EARL is very handsome and gentle boy, who is estimated to be around 6 years. Poor Earl was dumped in BARC's parking lot late on Monday afternoon 12/18 and just 24 hours later the shelter confirmed he would be on the euthanize list for Thursday 12/21. The shelter has not documented any interactions or care for him since yesterday when they processed his intake after which they immediately put him on the list to be killed on Thursday. He was understandably TERRIFIED when dumped in a parking lot and having strangers coming after him. They shot him with a tranquilizer and he has been TERRIFIED since. There has been zero actual aggression noted on this sweet boy's part aside from fearful warnings such as low growling and snarling - which is completely natural given the terrifying situation he was dumped into.
EARL is a handsome gentle soul who appears to be being written off and forgotten about because he's a senior and is noted as being on the euthanize list due to being HW+ (like most dogs brought into BARC) and an ear infection (easily treatable) , fleas (treatable) as well as his "behavior" which is normal given he is being manhandled, locked up and placed on the list to be killed within 24 hours of intake. Earl is a smart boy and knows he is in a bad situation and he has a REASON TO BE SCARED.
Earl is a sweet BEAUTIFUL boy that is still very much full of life, and deserves to not be overlooked and given up on because of his "estimated age". He may very well be much younger and was clearly neglected by the despicable person that dumped him in a parking lot like trash. Earl definitely does not deserve to die alone and forgotten at BARC. We are confident if rescued,Earl will bring years of unconditional love and devotion to his forever family. Earl is a truly strikingly handsome boy who deserves his own chance at having a forever family or a foster home for Christmas that will return his unconditional love and devotion.

12/19/2023 - Low growling when I crouched next to his kennel to take his picture. When I stood up he lunged toward the door low growling and baring teeth.
12/19/2023 - Yesterday this dog was dumped in eval parking lot. When I appraoched he froze and then tucked his tail and ran. He went under the fence and when we went to the fence to tranq him, he started snarling. We had to tranq him. Today he low growled at the male tech and then took a treat through the bars.
12/19/2023 - Placing on Beh Consul:
When approaching kennel he was actively lunging, growling, baring teeth, dilated eyes and tail was tucked.

S/O: found on property and was observed shaking head. dog kept running and had to be tranquilized.
- bilateral ears have moderate to marked stenotic thickened ear canals with moderate brown ceruminous exudate.
- there is a small dermal wound on right pinnae base with crusting.
A: chronic otitis externa
P: cleaned ears while in sedated and applied claro AU . due to chronicity will need to see private vet for chronic management.
panacur susp. for hookworms 18cc PO SID x 3 days
did not prescribe oral abx at this time for the base of ear. suspect would self-resolve since otitis is being treated.
