Thank you to everyone who helped today to move birds or tarp pens. Laurie, Ben, Laura, Scott, Hailie, Jo, Mike and Adrian.

The silkies are getting used to their new digs and the large fowl are getting used to theirs. We will move them around once they have some time to settle.

A couple immediate ways to help would be:

•Oxine & Vetrx the chickens were exposed to smoke, perhaps meds. We will assess their respiratory system here shortly. The Church Life LLC in Blair NE will be housing the birds. Address is available via Google for Amazon.

•Feed we buy is at Tech Partners Ag. +1 (402) 721-1770 calling and applying credits to the account so care givers can buy feed. They are a small business so they aren’t open until Tuesday. Typically Monday-Saturday am. We will notify them Tuesday.

I’m going to clarify that none of her dogs were harmed. As many of you know, she bred and recently had rottie pups. All but one pup are enjoying the holidays at their new homes, the rest are safe and with her & her family.

WATERLOO, Neb. (WOWT) - Waterloo, Valley and Yutan volunteer fire crews spent much of Saturday afternoon battling a house fire.

Waterloo Fire Chief Travis Harlow told 6 News at the scene his department got the call around 12:25 p.m. to a home just east of the recreation area’s campgrounds on F Street. They found smoke on approach and flames in the basement.

Harlow noted the home’s internal structure was partially compromised, including the stairs to both the attic and basement. The balloon-form frame of the home aided flames in spreading from the basement through an exterior wall to the attic space and through the roof.

Crews briefly withdrew from the structure early on, attacking from the outside for safety. The blaze has since been declared under control.

Harlow told 6 News no injuries were reported to fire personnel. No one was home at the time, but several animals were found both inside and outside the home. Several of them perished; the Nebraska Humane Society was called in to handle the pets.

Hi folks, it’s with great sadness to let you know Tina Slocum with Little Minion Silkies suffered a devastating and life altering fire today. She lost the majority of her home, all of her cats and kittens, all the silkies she bought in Ohio and all of her silkie growouts that were in her brooder system in her basement. The joy of celebrating Christmas with her entire family has been shadowed by this tragedy.
