Oswego Firefighters Local 4773 hosted their annual softball tournament on Saturday, May 25th. It was a beautiful day and a great turn out. The best part of the day for us, was seeing Pat Watson, a member of Oswego Firefighters Local 4733, throw out the first pitch and play in the tournament. One year ago, Pat was battling cancer. He attended last years tournament, after being discharged from the hospital having just undergone treatment. Today, we are happy to say, he fought the good fight and kicked cancer’s ass!

It was a repeat year for Joliet Fire who took home 1st place and Aurora Firefighters Local 99, who brought home 2nd. Oswego Fire placed 3rd.

To Oswego Firefighters Local 4733, your support of our foundation enables us to continue to financially donate to firefighters battling cancer. We greatly appreciated all you do and cannot thank you enough!!!

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our own, a valiant firefighter who fought not only to protect those in danger, but also battled courageously against cancer. Today, we gather as a community to remember and honor the life of firefighter / paramedic Bradley Belanger, who selflessly devoted his time and energy to safeguarding our community for the last 23 years.
As we mourn the loss of a beloved firefighter, let us remember the moments of bravery, the sacrifices made and the impact Brad had on the Sycamore community. Brad's legacy will forever be etched within our fire department's history.
In this time of grief, our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the Belanger family, his friends and his colleagues. Let us unite as a community to offer support and comfort to those who mourn, reflecting the camaraderie that he embodied throughout his service.
Details regarding memorial services and ways to honor Brad Belanger will be communicated shortly. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the gratitude of a community forever indebted to his courage and sacrifice.

I will be an advocate for this for life. We waited 2 years for a donor match for Marco. I truly believe if a match was found sooner he’d still be here today.

September is Leukemia Awareness Month. Consider joining the bone marrow registry and becoming a donor. A simple process that could save someone's life.

With sadness we share this post. Thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences are with Officer Joe Gudella’s family, friends and fellow officers of the Batavia Police Department. RIP Officer Gudella. 🙏🏽

It is with deepest sympathies that the Batavia Police Department announces the passing of Officer Joe Gudella. Officer Gudella was found deceased on March 27, 2023, while staying at a family home in central Wisconsin. No additional information is available regarding his death at this time. In memorial, the City of Batavia has lowered the City’s flags to half-mast.

Officer Gudella joined the Batavia Police Department in January 2022, after serving with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. Officer Gudella was thoughtful and compassionate, and his positivity and zeal for life were infectious. He had a servant’s heart and a passion for making people feel welcomed and loved. In his time with the Batavia Police Department, he made a lasting impact on his peers and the community that he served with pride. He will be sorely missed by all.

Officer Gudella is survived by his wife and two young children. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow officers, during this trying time.

It is with sadness we share the news of the passing of Itasca Firefighter/Paramedic Frank Nunez. Frank fought a very courageous battle against cancer. Our thoughts and condolences are with Frank’s family and the Itasca Fire Protection District.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Brother, Frank Nuñez. Frank had been the definition of a warrior since day one and remained an absolute inspiration, always showing up wearing a smile. Though Frank’s time with us was much too short, his legacy with be synonymous with the Brothers and Sisters of the Itasca Fire Protection District and Local 3461. “The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it.” -Thucydides.

Information regarding Frank’s services will be announced later.
