Many have already messaged us about Thor because of his GORGEOUS eyes! This amazing 5-year-old mixed breed has SUCH a sweet personality! Thor walks easily on a leash, knows MANY commands (sit, stay, drop it, leave it, etc.) AND he is housetrained! Thor had a very difficult path to reach the safety of the Metter Shelter and will need a GENTLE person willing to give him the love and reassurance he needs. Sadly, there have been people who did not treat Thor with the love he deserves, so he is a little shy at first. But once he knows you are a person of kindness, he is such a sweet, loving boy!! This handsome boy has SO MUCH love to give…Are you ready to be the soft landing this baby deserves? When Hurricane Helene ripped through southeast Georgia in the early morning hours of September 27th, she brought unprecedented devastation and overwhelming hardship to Candler and surrounding counties, leaving many without basic resources. The response from companies and charitable organizations who poured in disaster relief supplies, along with first responders and volunteers who worked tirelessly to distribute them, is nothing short of amazing.

While meeting the immediate needs of people came together quickly, meeting the needs of pets took more time. On October 10th, we were blessed to receive a donation of more than 29,500 pounds of dog and cat food from Greater Good Charities and Champion PetFoods. In the last 10 days, we distributed nearly all that food to pet owners and animal welfare groups in Candler and 12 hard-hit, surrounding counties.

We are beyond grateful to and for this donation. We also thank animal welfare organizations and volunteers who helped distribute food across the region. The attached photos tell part of our story.

Watch for future posts as we will continue to distribute the remaining pet food until our supply is exhausted.

Meet Atlas…Avery’s gorgeous brother! This handsome blonde lab/hound mix is a little shy like his sister, but is also eager to play when he gets the chance. Once Atlas hits the grass, he just loves exploring the yard, which is why his pictures do not do him justice! We just can’t catch a good pic when he’s on the move! This good looking, friendly fellow is a must-see in person to appreciate his attributes. Like most Lab/Hound mixed breeds, Atlas demonstrates a willingness to please, a friendly demeanor, and an eagerness to play. He is people and dog friendly. Like his sister, Atlas has just started leash training, and learning commands due to his age. Call 912-685-7877 to meet this handsome boy! *Adoption fee is $40 cash, which includes 5-way vaccine, Bordetella (kennel cough), flea treatment, deworming regimen, bath and nail trim, microchip and free registration.
