Iāve cried more in the past 24 hours than I can stand. Parker is comfortable in his stall but heās still unwilling to stand for more than a few minutes and it takes a lot of prompting to get him to do so. My poor baby is still mentally there but his body is failing him and itās breaking my heart. The grief is overwhelming and it seeps into every corner of my life. I canāt eat or sleep. I have terrible dreams about losing him. Nobody prepares you for the amount of loss and suffering you will experience in rescue and no matter how many times I go through it, each one feels like salt in a wound that will never heal. ā£

We have just a few days to see if his higher dose of meds will help him and then our vet will be out to discuss any other options. I am so scared of what that day might look like. Penny is one lucky lady to have survived not only a drug bust and seizure of the property she was being kept on, but she was also being argued over by the neighbors for who would get to slaughter her in the coming days afterwards. We took the largest hit ever this month is cancelled Patreon subscriptions and Iām scrambling to figure out what we are going to do. As of this morning we are down $975 and the numbers will keep updating throughout the day. This is devastating for our already small budget. A thousand dollars is two weeks worth of hay. Parker will be 9 years old in just a few weeks. Penny will be 5. For large breed farm pigs this is unheard of outside of a sanctuary setting. Both of them are unbelievably lucky to be living a life full of friendship and never ending autumn apple snacks. This is the life I so desperately want for all farmed animals but especially for pigs. They are so incredibly intelligent and sensitive. More so than any animal Iāve ever met. More than most people too! ā£ā£I hope that someday everyone has the chance to meet a pig that will change the way they look at their meals. This tiny angel was brought to the property but a neighbor last night after being found unresponsive and very sick. He is likely around 5 weeks old but is weighing in far below the normal range for that age. Heās already feeling much less crummy after getting cleaned up and started on antibiotics but itās going to be a long few weeks until heās healthy enough to be adoptable. ā£

Marlie was rescued by our dear friend @kittenxlady four years ago and has spent nearly her entire life here at Morningside with her best friends Charlie and Billie. Female birds have such a tough time due to the high rate of egg production that depletes their body of its natural calcium. This in turn pulls that calcium from their bones and creates many mobility issues. ā£
