There are many reasons feeding your dog in their crate is a good idea.👇

A BIG one is the positive association they build with their crate!

When you're crate training, it's important that your dog's crate is a place they feel safe and comfortable. One way to help them with those positive feelings is to feed them inside the crate!

Have you ever tried this?

Did you know that there IS a wrong way to greet a dog?🤯

Reaching over their head, making eye contact, or invading their personal space with hugs and cuddles can be super uncomfortable for our dogs. 😬

The best thing you can do is to let them approach you, and let them get to know you at their own pace. 🐕

Do you let strangers greet your dog?👋

If your dog is an escape artist, this post is for you...👇

During the holidays, there's an uptick in dogs escaping from their homes. This is not only incredibly dangerous and scary; it's frustrating trying to corral a dog that doesn't want to come back inside!🙃

Here are my favorite ways to keep them contained (and safe!) for the holiday season. 🐕

If you find that these aren't working for you, send me a DM and let's get you a free training consultation.

You can share a few things with your dog on Thanksgiving, BUT...👇

Moderation is key!🔑 Remember that your dog's stomach is MUCH smaller than yours. Enjoyment of these things in excess can still cause a tummy ache!😬

How are you including your dog in Thanksgiving?🦃

There are tons of great reasons to crate train your dog!📝

You can leave the house with assurance that your dog is secure, and that your property is not damaged.

Your dog is safe!

It's also good for them, too. Aside from safety, the crate is a safe space that gives your dog a place to escape from chaos.😌

If your dog chews on EVERYTHING...🙃 👇

It might be time to talk to a dog trainer.

Dogs can participate in "destructive chewing" for a number of reasons! Anything from anxiety😣 to excitement😁 can cause this behavior.

AND, in order to stop the behavior, it's important to consult with a professional who can help you determine where it's coming from. ✅

Does your dog have separation anxiety?🤔

While these aren't all the symptoms of separation anxiety in dogs, they ARE the most common. 💡

If your dog has separation anxiety, you shouldn't feel like you can never leave the house; send me a DM and let's see if we can give you your life (and your dog's confidence) right back. 😉

If you don't take your adult dog outside, you're essentially asking them to hold their bladder or bowel for that amount of time. 💡💭

If your dog holds their bladder or bowel for too long it can lead to serious and expensive illnesses.

I recommend taking your dog to the bathroom, on average, about 4️⃣ times a day.

This will lead to a healthier dog that is more responsive to training!

"Toys" are tools...🤯

Yep, you read that right!

➡️ Toys are tools that give dogs an outlet for their innate drives.

Chewing, hunting, play, scent work, licking, sight and sound, and more!!! 🎾

In other words ➡️ Get toys that foster a better mental and physical wellbeing for your dog.

What's your dog's favorite toy?🎾

What's the best way to travel with your dog?🤔 🐕 🚗

👉 In a crate!

Crating your dog not only keeps them contained to limit distractions, it also serves to keep them (and you!) safe.

➡️ Crating your dog means you'll have one less hazardous object should you happen to get into an accident; and they'll be unable to run off if you become incapacitated.

Do you crate your dog in the car?💬

When Is Group Training The Solution? 🤔

Group training is best for dogs working on similar issues.

➡️ Training together provides great socialization for all dogs participating while helping them correct similar problematic behaviors.

Teddy and Freya both came to me needing leash training and they worked well together during their board & train stays.

Both dogs made fantastic progress individually while getting great opportunities to interact with each other.
