I’m likely planning on doing a repeat breeding between Sue and Lana in 2024 as several have expressed interest.
***I’m starting a list, so anyone interested, please let me know! This will be Lana’s last litter.
The current pups are phenomenal so far: couldn’t ask for more natural ability, lovely temperaments, and drive for days. My two earned perfect NA scores at 6 months and several more pups are testing in spring. My two are starting UT training already. The two in law enforcement are progressing quite well in their training. Most importantly, all the pups are cherished family members and flourishing in their homes!
Info on parents from my past post:
Lana is the complete package GSP. She misleads many with her extremely sweet demeanor and disposition—everyone who meets her falls in love. But don’t let that fool you, she’s fire in the field and is sometimes a Malinois disguised in a floppy ear body when it comes to work!
She easily earned a Utility Prize II the same year I was hyper focused on Sue’s Invitational training. At the same time she earned her JHR and was even featured in an AKC video demo as one of the few non-labs. She recently finished her CD with high placements as well. She hasn’t been in the show ring enough to finish as our priority is performance, but her conformation is to die for. She’s also a blast to play with in disc and dock jumping.
Lana is the most stylish dog I’ve had in the field. Her intensity is unrivaled, and her biddability is just as intense. She was incredibly easy to get rock steady and clean up her natural retrieve. She has strong natural affinity to water, big range for a NAVHDA dog, and fantastic ground covering search.
In the home she’s a very sweet, snuggly, and calm house dog that’s the complete opposite of her fiery field self. She’s never met a stranger. Even though she didn’t grow up with kids she is a natural with them and even served as a therapy comfort dog of sorts at JFS with me. She’s a fantastic little bitch that brings a lot to the table.
Sue is the ultimate in versatility even beyond the field. Titled with all first placements and high scores in AKC obedience, and one of only a couple of GSP’s in the US titled in the sport of Schutzhund (IGP). His drive to work with his handler is unreal, and even landed him a spot as the only bird dog to ever participate on America’s Top Dog.
In the field Sue is everything I want in a GSP. He has an incredible nose, great range, and ground covering search. He won’t quit. In the grouse and woodcock woods his ability to track running birds is uncanny. He takes that same work ethic to his retrieve work and has put his NAVHDA skills to great use in finding crippled ducks. At his last Utility test he had such a monster 25 minute duck search a judge had to get him in a kayak! He’s the perfect combination of independence and biddability, when he does find that duck he just cannot wait to get back and present it to me.
NAVHDA is where Sue has really shown. NA Prize 1 at 4 months old, and UT Prize 1 our first time trying it. He had a lovely run in the Invy and missed that VC by only a few points. Form follows function with this boy, he’s a Grand Champion in UKC conformation and has many Best in Shows under his belt.
Sue has a great off switch and is just my best bud at home, and has served as a therapy dog for children service case workers. He’s my running and skijoring partner, and for fun we play in dock jumping and disc. He’s about as well rounded and versatile as a dog can get and an exemplary representation of this amazing versatile breed!
While I prefer hunting homes, I will consider active sport homes on a case by case basis.
